Ridgewood Radio features concert recordings by adventurous bands and experimental musicians and restored archival tapes from private and institutional collections captured at venues large and small across the five boroughs of New York. It is produced by David Weinstein and Outpost Artists Resources operating out of the Ridgewood section of Queens, NY, where you'll find more yellow bricks than on the road to Oz and the cemetery of your choice is never more than a few blocks from home.

Afternoon, frigid Ridgewood! Windy and chill on this side of the Hudson, too!
Avatar 3:04pm northguineahills:

I convinced and helped Talibam! plan a Florida leg on their next US tour. Can't wait!
Avatar 3:05pm weinstein:

Oh James, I hate to whine about the cold, I'm from Chicago I should know better.
Avatar 3:06pm weinstein:

Talibam! has a new album out and lots of side projects. I think they may outlast Trump.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm steveo:

Ding! Greetings & happy to be listening.
Avatar 3:08pm weinstein:

Thanks, steveo. Settle in for a (mostly) gentle ride.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm doctorjazz:

I've Been Dinged!
(hi all)
Avatar 3:11pm northguineahills:

The cdrs alone I got from Matt take up a good proportion of my cd shelf, then you add official releases, vinyl, side projects, etc, and you have enough music to listen to for weeks. Always a blast live.

At one gig, for whatever reason, I got on stage and started playing the piano. Most groups would have kicked me out, while they just went w/ it.
Avatar 3:11pm weinstein:

Well that's better than being t-boned. Hi Doc!
Avatar 3:13pm weinstein:

Yes, ngh... the TaliBoys are unpredictable and inclusive by nature of rebelliousness.
Avatar 3:15pm coelacanth∅:

greetings all
Avatar 3:21pm weinstein:

Greetings, coela. How's your environment today?
Avatar 3:24pm northguineahills:

I'm not encouraging anyone to do so at the next Talibam! gig, but it you must, it's an option....
Avatar 3:34pm northguineahills:

I missed Mary's "ding-ding-ding", so this is an acceptable substiture.
Avatar 3:38pm weinstein:

We are mounting DING3 on Friday if you want to join us at Outpost!
Avatar 3:47pm northguineahills:

I'm trying to get my wife to go if she's in town.
Avatar 3:48pm coelacanth∅:

David, regarding environment...my aural environment is quite good! otherwise, i'm swimming in fake spruce leaves and an enormous tangle of tiny lights and wire. (but getting paid by the hour, so it could be much worse)
...how're you?
Avatar 3:49pm northguineahills:

I'm looking to go back to visit Brooklyn in late winter/early spring to correspond w/ my friends' live shows, so if you you're curating/etc around then let me know,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm steveo:

it's like you were reading my mind about wishing I could have been there...checking in with my spousal unit re: friday
Avatar 3:50pm weinstein:

Wow, coela, we suspect you are decorating windows!
Avatar 3:55pm weinstein:

ngh: my next big thing is february, curating festival at Roulette, I think you know about this one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Webhamster Henry:

Hi Ridgewood Radiators - the volumes been down - d'oh - but I've been listening.
Avatar 3:56pm northguineahills:

Ok, back to work, hear y'alls thens.

@david: I'm looking at late March/early April. (solar orbit anniversary).
Avatar 3:58pm coelacanth∅:

nah, i wouldn't mind that job though. i'm de-lighting a very big, expensive fake xmas tree for someone who wants to donate it to her meeting house. i told her it would take less than 10% of the time to waste the string lights (at least 1000 of them, each one clipped on and a very complicated electrical set-up...) but fortunately she knows how i hate wasting at the cost to the planet and she feels similarly and said remove them all. untangle them and if any strings don't work, take all good light bulbs out and save them.
Avatar 3:58pm northguineahills:

You're at 74 Wythe Ave?
Avatar 4:00pm coelacanth∅:

ngh @3.11 had you been drinking?
Avatar 4:01pm weinstein:

Outpost is 1665 Norman Street. I think you are looking at Output, the dance club.
Avatar 4:01pm coelacanth∅:

(i could see me doing that if i'd been drinking and were close with the band)
Avatar 4:02pm northguineahills:

oh yeah, Outpost is where Bryan(Spinoza) does his Bunker nights I get them confuesed.
Avatar 4:03pm northguineahills:

@coel: I may have been imbibing and partaking in the devil's lettuce that night (it was a good show).
Avatar 4:04pm weinstein:

ngh: you are now straightened out and coela: you are clearly entangled!
Avatar 4:05pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar 4:07pm northguineahills:

keep the the water passing through those gills, coel!
Avatar 4:10pm coelacanth∅:

(and some extra of the fresh variety if i'm partaking of the fire variety)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm Stanley:

I've been listening from the start. Didn't think I'd enjoy this but it's memorising.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm Stanley:

Avatar 4:13pm liz phair∅:

it's mesmerizing too
Avatar 4:17pm coelacanth∅:

i've done minor electrical work, but i don't understand why one string light wire would suddenly branch into 2, which would then branch into 2 again...(& then disappear into the pile of wire where i don't know what happens to it)
Avatar 4:17pm weinstein:

I know, I've listened to it twice now and it is seductive. They create quite a journey,
Avatar 4:18pm coelacanth∅:

- i'm glad this music isn't frustrating!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm Webhamster Henry:

Percussion: banging on things.
Avatar 4:20pm still b/p:

The light strings have become self-aware and seek to spread and colonize and make removal difficult.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm steveo:

i'm imagining that each time you untangle a strand, it makes a happy ding....
Avatar 4:27pm coelacanth∅:

sbp so i probably should keep a safe distance to the mass
Avatar 4:28pm coelacanth∅:

steveo, i wouldn't know!
Avatar 4:32pm weinstein:

I think the future versions of this should be the untangling show. Ruth says she wishes she was drinking and untangling to this.
Avatar 4:38pm still b/p:

Many a good waste-averse man and tippling lass ha' gone missing in the work among hungry tendrils. And those newer projection dinguses for house exteriors...they'll transport ye to another dimension. Don't look 'em in the dazzlin' eye-lens!
Avatar 4:39pm coelacanth∅:

well, i haven't started drinking yet. maybe after the first DING! (hypothesis being that each wire will come undone easier than the last) -full liquor cabinet here and the owner of the house has maybe quit drinking, if anyone wants to help!
Avatar 4:42pm coelacanth∅:

thanks,sbp i'm trying not to, but....the twinkle!
i have the dogs here, but they're not really paying attention. it might be too late by the time they jump in.
Avatar 4:45pm weinstein:

I'm trying to explain to Ruth the new laser house decor things.
Avatar 4:45pm northguineahills:

wait, it's beer o'clock already! Why wasn't I notified!??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm steveo:

for ruth
Avatar 4:52pm coelacanth∅:

it's not beer o'clock here yet -though i do see some light here at the end of this tunnel.
...hmm, maybe that's not good
Avatar 4:53pm weinstein:

Ruth just keeps repeating wow wow wow. I can't believe she didn't know about these! (She doesn't watch TV, she says) thanks steveo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm steveo:

I don't watch tv either, Ruth, but I've seen them in real life (in Brooklyn, even)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm steveo:

I'm at 90% for Friday, just need to finalize childcare arrangements... I'm excited. Can't believe it's about 5 already. Thanks!
Avatar 4:58pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Walk Directly Into Fear (you can do everything): Starting in just a few moments, here on the Drummer stream. Come say everything! wfmu.org...

(Dreamy, chaotic, profound, ridiculous, important, soothing. New words, ideas, musical recombinations, live phone callers. What would you do with seven minutes?)
Avatar 5:00pm northguineahills:

Thanks David, nice set, it really saved on typing out the playlist. You giving Bryce a run for his money (actually, shortest playlist outside of Jim Price!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm listener james from westwood:

Had no idea where we would go moment to moment, which is my favorite sort of radio odyssey. Thanks, David and Ruth!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm Stanley:

Great stuff. Bye David
Avatar 5:00pm coelacanth∅:

Thanks David that was most Excellent!
