hi jesse! missed you these last couple weeks :) good to have you back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:02pm melinda:

hi neighbors
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:02pm listener james from westwood:

Evening, Jesse and all!
Avatar 7:04pm Jesse Kaminsky:

Hey everyone! Glad to be back after two weeks off, I have a few recordings from my trip to Arkansas to share with you tonight
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05pm gloomsday:

love it so far :)
  7:06pm hunter:

hey neighbors, first time listener here. so far so good.
Avatar 7:06pm Jesse Kaminsky:

Hey hunter, welcome to the fields!
Avatar 7:13pm hunter:

thank you!
Avatar 7:26pm geezerette:

It's like being two places at once. Really dreamlike.
Avatar 7:29pm Jesse Kaminsky:

@geezerette, this is the first time I'm playing some of my own recordings and it's honestly a little surreal. I bought a new recorder and was using these binaural microphones so it's actually the sound that went into my ears that's played back, more or less..
Avatar 7:31pm geezerette:

@Jesse, and it sounds that way. I hope you're a film maker, this is so fluid and lovely.
Avatar 7:33pm Jesse Kaminsky:

Avatar 7:33pm geezerette:

Do you resume recording at each next place? I like the continuity very much.
Avatar 7:34pm Jesse Kaminsky:

Yeah, these are 5 separate locations/dates/times etc, mixed together. It probably helps that they're all recorded on the same equipment with the same head
Avatar 7:35pm geezerette:

...just what I was thinking!
Avatar 7:39pm david_:

hello all. great stuff as always Jesse
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm melinda:

Did you spend the holiday in Arkansas?
Avatar 7:40pm Jesse Kaminsky:

Hey David! Thanks for filling in for me two weeks ago!
Avatar 7:41pm Jesse Kaminsky:

@melinda, yeah, a little over a week just hanging out and playing dominos mostly, some of which you heard

into the light of an audio only experience
Avatar 7:47pm Jesse Kaminsky:

I transitioned to some not-mine recordings so not positive of the birds on this one. He wrote about these bird sounds: This is the sound story of a grove at the end of the winter that resonates from the next soon spring. The birds feeling safe come here to sleep every night for several days and wake up in a myriad of songs and screams in the early morning.
Avatar 7:49pm Jesse Kaminsky:

For a very content looking recordist near a stream, here's his discogs page: www.discogs.com...
Avatar 7:50pm david_:

totally, I dig the country birds in the early morning winter light
Avatar 7:50pm david_:

thanks for painting that picture
Avatar 7:51pm geezerette:

Sounds like a very happy cat is involved.
Avatar 7:52pm Jesse Kaminsky:

I think those might be wings of near-flying birds!
Avatar 7:54pm David D:

My pleasure, Jesse - as are these sounds...
Avatar 7:56pm David D:

Looks like I'll have to hit the archive for your Arkansas recordings, which I just missed.
Avatar 7:56pm geezerette:

There's a large tree just outside our window, and night is falling, so it's as if the tree and the birds have come into the room.
Nice illusion.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:07pm gloomsday:

jesse, i forgot to mention! i loved that vincent duseigne field recording you played from a few weeks back of the train station in amiens, france so much that i posted it to my facebook. kenzo from ken's last ever radio extravaganza happened to stumble upon it there, and his most recent episode was dedicated to over 100 of vincent duseigne's field recordings--mixed and looped and strung together--including the one you played. the result was pretty magical, and it was all thanks to you! :')
Avatar 8:09pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Two straight hours of live-collaging Vincent Duseigne recordings (with a few seconds of Jesse's show in the middle): wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10pm melinda:

This is really nice.
Avatar 8:10pm Jesse Kaminsky:

hey gloomsday, that's so cool! That was really such a nice piece with the piano in that space, such a great moment in space. He actually has a piece on that Matins de France that I almost played!
Avatar 8:11pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I used that piece (with the piano) as the closing of a recent dance I mixed/hosted (audio not online yet).
Avatar 8:11pm Jesse Kaminsky:

Hi Kenzo! I'm putting that on right after I finish here if not sooner! Honored to be on your playlist :)
Avatar 8:14pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Thanks for your find.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:14pm gloomsday:

the piano combined with the mundane bustle of the train station totally shook me, haha. i'm super stoked to dive in to more of vincent's work, too. thanks for sharing the love, doing what you do, etc., etc.!

hi kenzo :)!
Avatar 8:16pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

(oh, hi!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16pm gloomsday:

and to get back on track, i second melinda's comment. this is super pleasant.
Avatar 8:18pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I'll be checking today's out later, Jesse!
Avatar 8:35pm geezerette:

seconding gloomsday, sharing passions could almost be the wfmu mission statemen.(..or a bumper sticker).
Avatar 8:40pm Jesse Kaminsky:

I'm adding some art now, images of paintings and other things by Ellen Burchenal, an artist from Baltimore: ellenburchenal.com
Avatar 8:42pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04pm Webhamster Henry:

Hi Jesse - missed the beginning, but the last bunch of minutes have been great! I heaven't heard Mary Jane Leach for a while, thanks!
Avatar 9:10pm Jesse Kaminsky:

Hey Henry, glad to hear it, that's a real nice reissue, much needed in the world
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32pm Webhamster Henry:

I hope you in the NYC area can all hustle over to Phill Niblocks this season!
Avatar 9:36pm northguineahills:

Well, I got here in time!

I miss Phil Niblock's concerts at his loft!
Avatar 9:37pm Jesse Kaminsky:

hey northguineahills! You have a new lion!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm gloomsday:

oh no i'm in love with this send help
Avatar 9:48pm Jesse Kaminsky:

I'm afraid there's no help on the horizon
Avatar 9:50pm northguineahills:

Loved the old school Sakamoto, Das Ding, new to me!
Avatar 9:52pm Jesse Kaminsky:

Das Ding's been around since the 80's but I'm not sure he released anything between like 1985 and 2009. Then just started back up again with some great sounds all of a sudden, at least it seems that way from here
Avatar 9:52pm coelacanth∅:

Jesse i just scrolled up and re:you@7.34 are you recording onto tape?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58pm gloomsday:

that was another fantastic program tonight. thank you, jesse! have a good night, fellow noisy neighbors~
Avatar 9:59pm coelacanth∅:

Thanks Jesse
Avatar 9:59pm geezerette:

Thanks, Jesse!
Avatar 10:01pm Jesse Kaminsky:

@coelacanthø, I was all digital recordings on an Olympus dictaphone and some binaural microphones. Thanks everyone, have a great week!
