Forget the shlock, it's time to ROCK!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Yes! A big dose of loud, grindy rock & roll to drive away the bad people and their bad ideas.

Avatar 12:35pm PKNY:

I remember that Ed was involved with the recording of one of the greatest breakbeats used in hip-hop: "It's a New Day" by the Skull Snaps. A quick Google search turned up Ed's bio on Facebook, it turns out it was his first official session, and it lead to him producing Living Colour:

  12:45pm Polyus:

I gotta confess, I thought this was a toss-off Cosmic Psychos song.
  12:46pm Polyus:

(and not a cover of a fellow Aussie)
Avatar 12:48pm V Priceless:

still my fave Heads record
  12:50pm PeterD:

If we can pose questions:
My big question for Ed Stasium would be, does he have to get into a different head space for each different band or musical style, or is it all pretty much the same from where he sits?
  12:55pm Jim:

Cartoon = great tune!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm Sean from Bridgeport:

Love this song and it has been awhile since hearing it. Thanks Diane!

Ed on the stairs : en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm Coe:

This was a running joke in my families house. If you were asked in the presence of my Grandfather what you wanted for Christmas and didn't have an answer he would ask if you wanted a Doodle Li Boop
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Michael 98145:

i've received several Whosiewhatsits over the years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm MD:

  1:55pm Dean:

Re: the drummer on "Doodle-Li-Boop," is it possible it was the composer, Alan Abel? He was percussionist with Philadelphia Orchestra from 1959, obviously an accomplished musician.
  1:58pm johnk77:

shave and a haircut
2 bits
1:59pm Michael from the Left Coast:

Dean you may be correct. I suspected Sam Ulano because he did similar recordings, but it would be likely to be the composer if he was a drummer. good call on that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I heard "Doodle-Li-Boop" one time before, on a different station. Glad to catch it on WFMU where I can clicky-star that buzzard!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Michael 98145:

... and play it again and again
Avatar 2:01pm Cheri Pi:

Late! Corporate lunch accomplished.
  2:03pm Dean:

The drummer plot thickens: a story in Billboard, March 2, 1955, reports a drumathon in a window at Macy's on West 46th St. by Ulano, aiming to drum for 72 hours (smoking cigars the entire time). "The stunt was the brainchild of Alan Abel, head of A-Bell Records, and a would-be legit producer." Not sure, then, if this is the Philly Abel.
Avatar 2:04pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

same (re: late) also same (re: corporate lunch, or rather, benefitting like a thief from a catered exec lunch that was canceled) ,,,,,,,,,,, also: greets.
  2:06pm johnk77:

2:14pm Michael from the Left Coast:

Freakbeat has been around for a long time. It's a great shop.
  2:14pm Dean:

Not that new, I guess...but newer than Moby Disc!

  2:47pm Dean:

Roy Thomas Baker produced them. But not the first album, which was Alan Parsons.
Avatar 2:49pm Cecile:

Oh, ok. That explains why one of the Pilot guys sang vocals for Parsons for years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm Michael 98145:
