Commence to plunge the frozen bird into the barrel of boiling fat! Excuse the explosion!
Chet and Bill Mac, embouchure from here to tomorrow.
Hey, Bill.
Avatar 12:07am Sem Chumbo:

heh. Walking Warrior, c'est moi.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07am pacific standard simon:

Hello Mr. Mac. I'm enjoying a rare Wednesday night off, before a Thanksgiving work day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09am pacific standard simon:

Had the Chet Baker on the box earlier today, with and without Gerry Mulligan.
Avatar 12:10am Bill Mac:

@Sem I've yet to experience the phenomenon of the combustible bird. I only need to see it. Happy T-Day! What's up PSS! I'm off the next couple of days, it's seemed a worthy excuse to get myself in here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13am Scraps deSelby:

h’lo hey, bill mac!
Avatar 12:15am Bill Mac:

Buenos Nachos Senor deSelby!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15am pacific standard simon:

Who woulda thunk Pere Ubu woulda had such a long career? Longer than Alfred Jarry's entire life, I think.
  12:16am Stashu:

Bill Mac! Happy thanks giving to you and yours!!!!!
Avatar 12:17am Bill Mac:

Hello Ms Stashu, same to you n yours! Stay away from that triptophan!
Swag For Life Member 12:18am Jinx:

this is oddly catchy
Avatar 12:19am Bill Mac:

Tis Jinxsy - I generally can't stomach too much NWW but I'm rockin like Ray Charles right now.
Avatar 12:20am Sem Chumbo:

@350F, it's 3 minutes a pound for deep fried turkey.

When I first moved to the country, I'd buy these dressed 30lb + mutant birds, 6 at a time, fresh, the day before Thanksgiving. Had a whole freezer just for that purchase.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20am pacific standard simon:

I've already had two thanksgiving suppers, thanks to my local supermarket hot bar.
Avatar 12:20am Bill Mac:

Step back all, the food nuts are here...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22am pacific standard simon:

I have the Homer Simpson gene, sorry.
Avatar 12:22am Bill Mac:

@Sem Was your intention to sell them that day or just sit on them?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23am fleep:

Sitting on frozen turkeys is a thing?
  12:24am rw:

Hello! Working in the kitchen but had to check in! Shows off to a great start!
Avatar 12:24am Bill Mac:

Should be a summer thing methinks
Avatar 12:24am Bill Mac:

Hey rw, surprised to see a crowd gathering this morn.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25am pacific standard simon:

Props to kitchen workers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25am Ken From Hyde Park:

Happy Thanksgiving, DJs, listeners and to all ships at sea.
Avatar 12:26am Sem Chumbo:

Bill, so happy to see it's be the sound of wrapping paper tearing and Zzzzzzerohour Xmas morning.

Roast one for the giant T-Day crow,, and freeze the rest, with the hilarity of Skill-sawing them to pieces over the fall and winter to look forward to.
Avatar 12:27am Sem Chumbo:

Heard an ugly humpback dolphin story today @fleep. Not one of THOSE, are you?
Avatar 12:27am Bill Mac:

Argy bargy Ken!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29am pacific standard simon:

Presidents make a big deal over choosing a White House Official Pet, but do you ever see them choosing a turkey? Or an iguana? NO.
Avatar 12:30am Sem Chumbo:

Oh, boy. Was I 10 or 11 when I first heard this?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31am fleep:

@Sem just a basic bottlenose, and I keep my flippers to myself.
Avatar 12:31am Sem Chumbo:

1965. 12.
Avatar 12:31am Bill Mac:

Looking forward to the Christmas show. Thanks to Mr McGasko I'll be on starting up right about the time folks are ready to chill out.
Avatar 12:32am Bill Mac:

@Sem Popped up on Ye old iPod yesterday... whatta great tune!
Avatar 12:34am Sem Chumbo:

We have a couple of Weavers to thank for that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37am pacific standard simon:

Except the Donald. No pet. Oh, maybe Barron, based on his irrelevant press conference appearances, lately.
Avatar 12:37am Bill Mac:

@PSS I'm surprised there wasn't an executive order to off the turkeys this year
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38am doctorjazz:

Hey Bill and others out in Zeroland... Probably conk out soon, but figured I'd check in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39am Scraps:

PSS, re Pere Ubu’s longevity: it maybe means less when you consider that “Pere Ubu” means essentially David Thomas. There’s nobody except Thomas in it from the seventies, or even maybe the eighties; I think Michele Temple is second-longest band member currently.

Though they are (to me) mostly relevant still, which is impressive.
Avatar 12:43am Bill Mac:

@DoctorJazz Hey man, pleasant dreams if I don't hear from you anymore tonite
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43am doctorjazz:

(love this xylophone track...)
  12:44am Mike tp:

clean triples!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47am pacific standard simon:

Scraps, even so, I would have not predicted such longevity for the man who sang "Final Solution' back in the mid-seventies, when I received that 45 via mail order.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48am Scraps:

(Jarry died at 34, so you’re right. ;-) )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53am pacific standard simon:

Trini Lopez was indeed a psycho in that movie.
Avatar 12:54am Sem Chumbo:

Toss up with Telly Savalas, Charles Bronson, and Don Sutherland, @PSS.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54am pacific standard simon:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56am doctorjazz:

Great track, love this Della!
Avatar 12:56am Bill Mac:

@PSS David Cassidy!!! 67 when he passed - two years younger than Lemmy...
I love you too PSS...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56am pacific standard simon:

Oh yeah, Mel Tillis died. I expect Dave The Spazz will cover that ground.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56am coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00am Scraps:

Jorge Ben, yay!

Oh, thank you for the Odessa track. Love that.
  1:03am JakeGould:

Hey Bill! Logging into say “Masters of the Xylophone” just made my night.

Avatar 1:06am Sem Chumbo:

Bill, well past my bedtime. Catch up w/ you next time, Christmas Day for sure. G'night, all.
Zeroed, out.
Avatar 1:07am Bill Mac:

Later Sem!!!
Avatar 1:08am Bill Mac:

@ JakeGould Xylophones.... who'd a thunk it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09am pacific standard simon:

Somewhere back in the '90s, I found a copy of King Missle's THEY at a thrift store in the Mission District of San Francisco. I took great pleasure in "accidently" playing the track "Double Fucked By Two Black Studs" over the restaurant PA where I worked.
Avatar 1:10am Bill Mac:

@PSS Excellente!!! I DO love you, Simon. Can I call you Simon?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10am doctorjazz:

Keeping my clicky-star finger busy, but I gotta crash. Catch you next time, fun holiday all!
Avatar 1:11am Bill Mac:

@DJ Have a good T-Day!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14am pacific standard simon:

Bill: It appears that we are already brothers, since I also own a John Berberian oud album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17am pacific standard simon:

And a rubber rat, which sits atop my bread mixer.
Avatar 1:20am Bill Mac:

@PSS I think Brave Combo covered one of his songs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32am Scraps:

Bobby Conn is one weird live act.
Avatar 1:34am Bill Mac:

Is that a good thing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36am pacific standard simon:

Curious about what Annabella is doing these days. It seems she is much concerned with pretender versions of Bow Wow Wow that do not feature her (understandable), and also turning white, like Michael Jackson. Hope that's just apublicit's fantasy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37am Scraps:

It depends. Maybe on my mood, even.
Avatar 1:41am Bill Mac:

@PSS I just checked some pics. She looks older but I don't see any pigmentation adjustment.. rmeinds me, I was just looking at some recent video of Dale Bozzio (Missing Persons). She shoulda left if behind...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51am pacific standard simon:

John Berberian albums used to be common in thrifts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52am coelacanth∅:

rest in peace
Avatar 1:53am Bill Mac:

Weird, I have a soft spot for this one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54am coelacanth∅:

it's not the worst thing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55am coelacanth∅:

probably at least one/year for my whole life i get a partridge family song stuck in my head. ("i woke up in love this morning", usually)
Avatar 1:55am Bill Mac:

it's definitely attached to a lot of childhood memories
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56am coelacanth∅:

me too, though i never liked it then! i heard my sister playing it though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02am pacific standard simon:

Here's he image I objected to of Annabella
Avatar 2:02am Bill Mac:

I think I must've caught it my brothers transistor radio
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02am Scraps:

I still think “I Think I Love You” is a great song.
Avatar 2:07am Bill Mac:

@PSS I wonder how old that picture is - she's near 50 at this point.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09am coelacanth∅:

i enjoyed it just then, i'll admit! it's as good as a lot of other pop songs from that era, despite however it came to be.
  2:09am blee:

Avatar 2:10am Bill Mac:

Me too!
Avatar 2:11am Bill Mac:

Speaking of soft spots - one of the best things to come out of the 90s
Avatar 2:13am Brian in UK:

Hello Bill and late birds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14am coelacanth∅:

my computer didn't want to display that album image before so i image searched it. (it's not a greatest hits album; it's the first pf album) i didn't get the giant wave of childhood until i saw that image of "the partridge family album". i know it was the first non-christmas music to be played on the stereo in 1970. my sister was so happy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14am pacific standard simon:

I read Shirley Jones's autobiography, so I have permanently implanted image in my memory of her masturbatory technique.
Avatar 2:15am Bill Mac:

@PSS Huh what?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15am coelacanth∅:

Avatar 2:16am Brian in UK:

So who are the three guys behind the Prez?
Avatar 2:17am Bill Mac:

I remember trying to get past the kiddie records we got for Christmas. I think one year I got An Evening with Groucho (?) and the Cher album with Gypsies Tramps and Thieves
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18am Scraps:

I have Flying Microtonal Banana, and I still can’t decide whether I like it or not. So I keep playing it....
Avatar 2:18am Bill Mac:

I dunno - it's a Clinton pic. I like that the bird looks like he's making tracks before someone changes their mind
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19am coelacanth∅:

the one on the left is his lady getter, the one on the right is his herb supplier.
Avatar 2:19am Brian in UK:

Bill, will you have co-host for four weeks come Monday?
Avatar 2:19am Bill Mac:

BTW, greetings brother Brian. How's retirement treating you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20am pacific standard simon:

Don't go there if you don't want to know.
Avatar 2:22am Brian in UK:

Getting used to it by stages. Used to say it is a bad idea to suddenly stop full time so try and run down the hours you work so it is not such shock.
Avatar 2:22am Bill Mac:

@BiUK - Absolutely, she's been looking forward to another shot at knocking me out of the big chair.
Avatar 2:23am Bill Mac:

Maybe the turkey is his lady getter...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25am pacific standard simon:

I probably need to go to bed.
Avatar 2:25am Brian in UK:

Need more than one show for that despite the computer skills.
What's not to like about Spike. Still pissed off thinking about my 78rpm of Cocktails for Two/Chloe breaking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26am coelacanth∅:

i woulda guessed public relations...he's/she's certainly more charming than those other blokes
Avatar 2:27am Bill Mac:

@PSS No worries Simon, eat much today! We'll touch base again soon!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28am pacific standard simon:

I bought a Spike Jones 78 at a thrift store in the '70s. The next person in dropped a six pack on it and broke it.
Avatar 2:29am Brian in UK:

You see one of those birds running at you across a field you would get out of the way.
Check the ass to see if the feathers have been ruffled!! Can't trust no one these days.
Avatar 2:30am Bill Mac:

@BiUK Aargh! I think Chloe, Feetlebaum and Holiday for Strings are my favorite Spike things
Avatar 2:34am Brian in UK:

Bill, we have a similar comedy gene, I still find Cosby's monologues funny, cannot find it in me to dislike them because of what is happening to him now. What is funny, stays funny, irrespective.
Avatar 2:38am Bill Mac:

We were taking about attachments to nostalgia. Cosby was part of my fabric - we went to the same high school and his stories were relate-able to people my age because he's only 20 years older - the neighborhood was basically the same place.
Avatar 2:38am Bill Mac:

Oh yeah, he was funny too...
Avatar 2:40am Brian in UK:

Bill, the most important sporting event of the year. Cricket Ashes between England and Australia started at Midnight our time. You folks have baseball but this is as deep as it gets.
  2:41am The Missus:

Call me after show b4 you put things away
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42am coelacanth∅:

i usually can still find humor funny - just as i can still enjoy music - after i learn some deplorable news about the creators of it.
... for some reason though, since i did some research (that i don't know why i never did decades ago) that revealed to me that peter paul & mary were at least as abominable as led zeppelin in regard to taking songwriter credit (and royalties), i can't listen to it.
Avatar 2:43am Brian in UK:

Even the pilot on the aeroplane taking the England team was sledging them over the PA.
  2:45am yippie:

great rockin out and jazzin it up with you
Avatar 2:47am Bill Mac:

Right on Yip! Thanks for cashing in
Avatar 2:49am Brian in UK:

Only thing I ever bought was Leaving on a Jet Plane. Just remembered it was by John Denver. Bought it days after chopping off the top of my finger servicing my motor cycle. Jan'70?
Avatar 2:51am Brian in UK:

Bad month for the Young family. Great single.
Flash & the Pan were cool too.
Avatar 2:52am Bill Mac:

Got a Malcolm tune queue up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53am Scraps:

Avatar 2:55am Bill Mac:

Thanks folks! Eat up that Tom Turkey. RIP Malcolm Young David Cassidy Fred Cole Mel Tillis Della Reese! Be well all, see you soon!
Avatar 2:56am Brian in UK:

Nice one, Bill. Mind the roads.
  2:56am choggie:

Some Bon Scott love, from Malcolm to the world, we love the original screaming Irish!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56am coelacanth∅:

pp&m's first and 3rd albums are what weened me off shitty children's records that bored me at the age of 2-3. our whole family would sit around the living room and sing along with the entire albums on weekend nights.
it's impossible to say what i might think of it if i were introduced to it later in life.
  2:57am choggie:

People ask me everywhere....Is that really all your hair??!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57am coelacanth∅:

...so, not being able to listen to it now because i'm disgusted with the people who made the music is big for me.
  2:58am choggie:

Awesome show mate....Saved and shared
