Yes, it was the first live ios radio feed, before there were user-created apps, using a trick with Safari and the way it played streamed quicktime movies.

I remember reading about WFMU in the Wire in 1998 when in college, and my office had great (at the time) bandwidth and I was able to get the tinny sound of WFMU in FL and Monica was playing, I've been addicted ever since, and then got to move to NYC and play at WFMU.

I love this stuff. I adore Meredith Monk. But given her contemporaies in Brooklyn, Quens, and the Bronx, who scratched records and improvised their lyrical beats, and became an international phenomenon, you have to wonder how to determine who truly created someting phenomenal and authentic, and who was lost in solopsism. Or more importantly. How a successful artistic platform was promoted and marginslized simultaneously, a form of course found ed by poor brown skin kids willing to dig the dirt and create and a Macarthur Grant Winner who is in essence completely forgotton. Who is the real authentic cultural purveyor and how is marginalization determined. Rich and forgotten, or exploited and exhausted. Clearly bets were lost. Meredith verse the boro of the Bronx. I don't think there was any contest. Cultural was out of her reach. And genuine trends were exploited, cheapened, and exhausted.
