At the end, the train passengers, the engine and finally the train to Paris leaving Amiens.

This first group of sounds is an unreleased piece by Jonáš Gruska, founder of LOM records and instruments. He sent it with this text: Federovo is an album about soundscapes of small wooden hut in the mountains of Slovakia. No electricity, no running water – just meadows, pastures and woodlands. Album contains various representations of biophony and anthropophony. Experimental close-up grass insect recordings, mixed with distant hums of cargo trains travelling few kilometres through the valley, sheep-bell drones, short story about making tea on a wooden stove, village party echoes and night walk through the forest with two girls slightly scared of bears.

Present meadow experiments are about capturing micro worlds in the grass. Very sensitive and low-noise microphones are placed amongst the microcosm of the fauna and set to capture long recording sessions, since it takes a while until the local environment accepts the microphone intruders and starts to sing again. One can hear detailed crackles of the grass itself and small insect footsteps accompanied by occasional fly or a bee.

Recorded in Federovo near Stankovany village, Slovakia in June 2017.

Each of those descriptions gives the spirit a lick of something wonderful and wistful. The material and the IDs together are a Gruska Gruska win win.

the station hall with a piano player is one of the most beautiful things i've heard in a while. definitely going to revisit this track soon.
Avatar 7:53pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

Yeah, I wonder if that was just someone who happened to be hanging around playing? A couple of years ago here in boston they put all these pianos just out in public places so people could play them whenever they wanted to. It was pretty great actually
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm
gloomsday:

i adore that. there are some pianos that pop up around portland occasionally that people can play. it's so wonderful and inspiring.

oh, these are wonderful. i'm super fond of the one you selected for "Svätojánska Zábava." the composition and colors are really pleasing to the eye.
Avatar 8:31pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

yeah! That one has so many good crushed paper lanterns and fans and things, reminds me of a lizard's neck in a way
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35pm
gloomsday:

that's a neat comparison, and i can totally see it now that you mention it. i'd love to see some of these installations in person. the fact that photography can capture the depth/textures of these at all is pretty amazing, but i'm sure up close is a totally different, visceral experience.
Avatar 8:42pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

yeah she uses so many different types of materials and surfaces. I've never seen anything really big by her, most of her recent shows have been overseas but she did have one in new york that I missed of course
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54pm
gloomsday:

aw, boo! hopefully someday the stars will align. the one you selected for "Lamuka" is wild. i want to exist right smack in the middle of that space and take in all those great details.

I was checking something out related to Xmas music with this show still playing, and absently left the holiday playlist going, so a while back I had an uninspired version of Silent Night sharing the speakers with Apakapa. One of them was happily improved through the union.
