Morning Jeff...Great choice to kick things off!

Avatar 12:04am Jeff Conklin:

Morning, fellas...
  12:04am J Dream:

Greetings from smoggy Los Angeles
Avatar 12:05am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

cheers from Philly
Avatar 12:06am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

Is it Dylan's birthday or something? Good songs either way...
Avatar 12:07am Number Six:

Good Evening, Jeff & Everyone!
  12:07am DJ E:

Clark's solo work is so brilliant. this album in particular moves me so. yet he never gets his due.
Avatar 12:08am Jeff Conklin:

Just feeling Dylan covers for a bit, his birthday is in May...
Avatar 12:09am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

cool...I am feeling the covers too!
Avatar 12:10am Megadano:

I 100% never tire of Ernie Graham.
  12:10am DJ E:

anyone here have feelings on the "I'm Not There" soundtrack? I feel like a lot of the covers proves that Dylan's singing is more powerful than we think. No one can sneer like him, though Lennon is close. Cat Power's cover is good though.
Avatar 12:12am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

@Dj E I remember getting that soundtrack because I read Greil Marcus claim that the italian rap crew's sampling was amazing...and it was SO shitty....
Avatar 12:13am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

Also I saw that movie in the theater...it was a bad movie, but at least it was going for it...
Avatar 12:14am Jeff Conklin:

@Megadano: Same
Avatar 12:15am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, who else is still kind of interesting even when they are sometimes boring/bad?
Avatar 12:19am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

oooh, Richard Thompson! Pretty good songs, even when produced by Jeff Tweedy?
  12:20am DJ E:

@adam I'd saying the Flaming Lips are always at least trying for something, even if it fails.
  12:20am Hippie Jesus:

Good morning all!
Avatar 12:22am Jeff Conklin:

Avatar 12:22am Jeff Conklin:

I liked the Tweedy RT record but I like them all
Avatar 12:23am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

yeah me too
  12:23am dave in Brooklyn:

Personally, Sonic Youth’s cover of I’m Not There rips my heart out. I find it tough to argue that they didn’t capture the essence of that song, which is f’n staggering IMO
Avatar 12:24am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

@dave oh yeah, I forgot about the version of Going to Acapulco, by a dude from a band I forget but I don't think I ever liked? Nailed it on that song though, if I remember right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25am tuner fish:

great sunn cycle!
  12:27am DJ E:

@Adam that was Jim James from My Morning Jacket. I liked him, has a very distinctive voice so he doesn't even try for a Dylan impression.
  12:30am All Bunny:

Greetings from Albany, NY
Avatar 12:30am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

Oh shit, new Ash & Herb?!?!
Avatar 12:32am Jeff Conklin:

Yes, new Ash & Herb. Tape/digital forthcoming on their own label, Flower Room.
Avatar 12:32am Number Six:

Really nice!
Avatar 12:34am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

Skull Rock...wasn't that what they'd have to have Beavis and Butthead's shirts say when they weren't on tv? Good song title either way...
  12:35am MONEYBAG$:

Skull rock's not dead
Avatar 12:38am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

Free Folk's Not Dead, ha ha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44am Ken From Hyde Park:

I just looked it up. Butt-head's says "Skull" and Beavis' says "Death Rock." Otherwise, it was AC-DC & Metallica and Stewart's shirt had Winger. That show cracked me up.
Avatar 12:46am Jeff Conklin:

Important research. Good work, guys.
Avatar 12:51am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

Jeff, you are pretty much straight edge right?
  12:52am All Bunny:

Mesmerising lead
Avatar 12:58am Jeff Conklin:

@Adam: I live a free life.
  12:59am Hippie Jesus:

Probably just my ears, but this John Peterson vocals sound a good deal like, Martin Gore.
Avatar 1:09am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

I like the Fotheringay cover....maybe...you're not as "free" as you think, Jeff!
Avatar 1:10am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

J/k it is bad...
  1:12am Hippie Jesus:

Anyone else experiencing “buffering” issues? Not once while the music was playing, but several times while our DJ was speaking. I may need to Lift My Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven.
Avatar 1:13am Jeff Conklin:

Oh no, my rambling is the best part!
Avatar 1:27am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

your talking is good Jeff, I always like it!
  1:34am Hippie Jesus:

@adamkenzo speaks truth, so many nuggets of wisdom when Jeff speaks!
Avatar 1:36am Jeff Conklin:

Haha. A necessary evil but thanks
Avatar 1:37am Jeff Conklin:

Avatar 1:38am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

these jams...are very good!
Avatar 1:40am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

also, I am not a super Deadhead, but it's pretty rare that there's a medley of Dark Star AND the 11, right?
  1:41am dave in Brooklyn:

This is fuckin killer, Jeff. I can’t understand how I survived without this show
  1:43am Hippie Jesus:

Was this once (like for one recording) referred to as, Uneven Eleven?
Avatar 1:43am Jeff Conklin:

@Adam: No, that trio was very common in the late 60s.
Avatar 1:44am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

ah, I should check out more 60s Dead then!
  1:51am Jeff Conklin:

@dave: Thanks, man. What WERE you doing before??
  1:52am dave:

@Adam: try this: https://archive.org/details/gd1969-02-22.sbd.miller.112691.flac16
Avatar 1:53am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

cool, thanks Dave!
  1:58am Bayta:

This Geist & the Sacred Ensemble is great! Never heard of them before.
  2:02am dave:

@Adam: sure, as an Eleven fanatic, I think you'll find the energy of those '68 & '69 shows pretty addictive
Avatar 2:05am Jeff Conklin:

@Bayta: Agreed!
  2:06am dave:

@JC: not listening to enough psych, clearly. Mind = *
Avatar 2:20am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

we love you Jeff, you are doing ineffably great work with your show
Avatar 2:21am Jeff Conklin:

Oh, man, thanks so much. So glad to be doing it...
Avatar 2:57am AdamFromOldeKenzo:
