Love this show. It's appointment radio for me on the road. Great driving music.
  Sat. 10/21/17 1:07pm Doc Rock:

Knockout - very similar to Nutocker by B. Bumble & The Stingers.
  Sat. 10/21/17 1:15pm Stevel:

LaCrosse Wis. used to be the home of Heilmans' Old Style, which had a powerful influence on our world view.

Re: Evan Johns - Get Out of Denver - baby go go
Avatar Sat. 10/21/17 1:24pm Von the Trucker:

Didn't Jerry Lee Lewis cover this, once?
  Sat. 10/21/17 1:27pm Doc Rock:

Von - Jerry Lee did a version on his London Sessions album in da mid 70’s.
Avatar Sat. 10/21/17 1:31pm Von the Trucker:

Thanks, Doc. I thought I saw that on a Jerry Lee album when I was a kid.
  Sat. 10/21/17 1:35pm Gopher grave-yee:

Valhalla Memorial Park in the valley (where Lorna was stuffed in the ground) is a great place to take a date with a bottle of turkey 101. Not like there is much more to do in N. Hollywood than drink, date, produce porn or build spy planes! HiCCuP!!!
  Sat. 10/21/17 1:36pm Doc Rock:

Hey Von R U familiar with that song Nutrocker?Later covered by Emerson Lake and Palmer on their Pictures At An Exposition album.
  Sat. 10/21/17 1:36pm Stevel:

KDKA Pittsburgh Django Jack Bogut loved "The Shortest Song in the World ", and lots of other schtick
Avatar Sat. 10/21/17 1:38pm Von the Trucker:

Doc, yes. A true classic, both versions.
Avatar Sat. 10/21/17 1:40pm Von the Trucker:

I used to listen to Jack Bogut in the mornings, when I was a kid. He also used to play Sousa marches to rouse people out of bed.
  Sat. 10/21/17 1:40pm Doc Rock:

Ha Ha - The Shortest Song In The World. Great. 18 seconds. Good thing 45’s were only about 49 cents back then.
Avatar Sat. 10/21/17 1:43pm Von the Trucker:

49 cents is about what they still cost, in some thrift stores.

My 7 year old was just going crazy over "Tell Me Baby". "That song's been stuck in my head for like two years!"

Where did this come from?!?
  Sat. 10/21/17 2:13pm Stevel:

Von: Yes! A personal favorite of mine was The Slithery Dee. Sort of a Santa's helper, Krampus deal. Absolutely my entry point for radio. Toured the station, met someone. I'll have to ask my mom if she remembers who.
Avatar Sat. 10/21/17 2:16pm Von the Trucker:

Steve - Was Bogut the one that did "Old Frothingslosh, the pale stale ale with the head on the bottom"?
  Sat. 10/21/17 2:26pm Doc Rock:

The Cadets recorded for Modern Records, the Bihari Bros. Label in Cal. The same group recorded under the name The Jacks on RPM records. They only used the name The Cadets when they appeared live on stage. Wacky but true.
Avatar Sat. 10/21/17 2:28pm Reeshard:

Usually, as Fool's Raradise unfolds, I scan my cable listings for future monster movies to record on the DVR. I've discovered of late that the Bollywood show 'Namaste America' is on during Rex's time slot. Turns out FP & Hindi film dance routines are a great match! The sight of dozens of colorfully clad, naan-fed beauties gyrating to the sounds of the Sting Rays is a Thing of Beauty. The experience is most heartily recommended.
Avatar Sat. 10/21/17 2:31pm Von the Trucker:

Makes sense, Doc. George Clinton did something similar with Parliament/Funkadelic in the seventies. Same band two labels, simultaneously.
  Sat. 10/21/17 2:40pm Stevel:

Von: Sounds right. Apparently we did meet Jack B during a station tour that my mom talked them into.
Sat. 10/21/17 2:47pm Jennifer in Colton:

Accordion songs , Rex!? Is it that late in the show already???
  Sat. 10/21/17 2:57pm Doc Rock:

Von - Yes!!
