Been died at the age of 60 on August 19, 2010, in Hasselt, Belgium, of a heart attack while at the Pukkelpop 2010 music festival where he was on-tour as a sound man for Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

I believe I saw The Byrds at a short lived Rock Palace in Boro Park, Brooklyn, on New Utreicht Avenue. Must have been late 60's, and didn't have a clue what personnel was at the time, just knew they had some hits. The Dead and Airplane played there, but it closed down in a few months. It was an odd place for a Rock Venue (I didn't get to the other shows).

michael been was a sideman in harry dean stanton's band. with the call michael fronted the band, played bass, and was the main songwriter.i do not think harry dean played live withe call, at least not very often. harry dean did play harmonica on a call recording. black rebel motorcycle club was great live, and michael was their front of house sound man. they did a fantastic show at irving plaza nyc, probably the early 2000's, and that was the last time i ever talked to michael.

As it happens, I played Emmylou's Quarter Moon in a Ten Cent Town this weekend. "One Paper Kid" is one of my favorites. Realized I don't know the first thing about Walter Martin Cowart, who wrote it.
