hey irwin and everybody!
Avatar 3:05pm pierre:

weird, and it's not like anybody care, but i'm listening to WFMU through the app on the phone, plugged into my amp, while watching the comment board/playlist on my computer.

Bonsoir from Paris Irwin, long time no hear
Avatar 3:05pm Hoboken Jack:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Irwin:

Hello all. RSM, you'd never believe what's transpiring one floor below as I program reddio. Will mention on the air.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Passaic River Blues:

Is that really R. Stevie Moore?
Avatar 3:09pm pierre:

Salut RSM !

  3:12pm RSTVMO:

What a beautiful day this is!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm Irwin:

Ah, fixed. Technical difficulties are a way of life here. Part of the charm of low-budget radio.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm Passaic River Blues:

Big ups Bloomfield!
  3:14pm RSTVMO:

Bloomfield RIP, back in TN again
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm Irwin:

"Reddio" is a Judsonfountainism.
Avatar 3:16pm pierre:

@Michael 98145 : I like this "among us" thing that you've got here.
And can I ask you from what movie that picture of N. Portman is from ?
Avatar 3:25pm Itzall Ablurr:

And, speaking of Sabu... (Hoboken Jack, @ 3:05) any word of his recovery?/hopeful wfmu appearance? Wishing him all best.
Avatar 3:26pm Itzall Ablurr:

Thanks Irwin for the Dino Saluzzi and Jon Christensen song- that was beautiful.
Avatar 3:29pm Roberto:

Bai Tom!
  3:32pm berbo:

You should get Wire to autograph all the old CD players.

Then you can sell off the old CD players and buy new ones.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm Carmichael:

Heya Irwin and listeners. Clickied the Ooga Boogas.
Avatar 3:34pm Roberto:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm Michael 98145:

Great bass line on this QMS.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Thanks for THIS Dino song, too.
  3:45pm pierre:

Baby gramps is on the FMA
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm Irwin:

Thanks, Will. There were at least two other appearances. Gotta get 'em in the FMA. He never does the same set twice.

Avatar 4:01pm Will from Seattle:

here's a appearance he made in 2004
  4:04pm Laura L:

Back just in time for the font controversy. Is it the "WFMU" font on the billboard that is so reviled? Helvetica in a Hurricane?
Avatar 4:04pm Itzall Ablurr:

N. Korea's GONE? Hmmm. I thought I heard a distant snap, crackle 'n pop sound earlier, just assumed it was the construction work outside.
Avatar 4:33pm glenn:

oh, joe. what a kidder.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm mrdonutsu:

Is that Ann Magnuson?
  4:41pm jan:

Joe Frank- I can't concentrate on work....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm Irwin:

The gals are Joe's friends Kelly and Debi.
  4:43pm berbo:

"I'm not recording this".
C'mon, it's Joe Frank - of course he's recording this!
  4:44pm Ghetto Pastrami:

"I'm not recording this. "
Avatar 4:46pm Roberto:

This isn't entirely implausible. My parents are actors and they would occasionally rehearse loud arguments in the house. At least that's what they told me...
Avatar 4:48pm Itzall Ablurr:

"I'm pretty sure this happened". Classic.
Avatar 4:49pm Roberto:

As George Takei would say -- oh my.
Avatar 4:52pm TehBadDr:

So sad that Larry is gone, and Joe is almost on his way out. This stuff is brilliant. All of them telling stories and taking the piss!
  4:53pm Marc15:

She definitely spoke the truth about the p***s
  4:55pm John in Bklyn:

@mrdonutsu It does sound like Ann!

@TehBadDr Is Joe in bad shape? I hadn't heard anything.
Avatar 4:56pm Roberto:

That segment was seven minutes shorter than usual. You were making it sound like it was going to be a five-minute bit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm common:

how goes it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm Passaic River Blues:

@John in Bklyn: www.gofundme.com...

Roberto: You can buy the full uncensored ep at JoeFrank.com. ALL THE NAUGHTY BITS!
Avatar 4:58pm TehBadDr:

John, he's doing better, has made some shows for a podcast series, but...
Avatar 4:59pm Roberto:

Thanks Irwin, good to know.
  5:00pm John in Bklyn:

@Passaic and TehBadDr Thank you for the info!
Avatar 5:00pm glenn:

probably should have been called sunday morning cervix.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm Mike Sin:

Way after the fact because I was listening at work.
re: Sony CDP XE-500 players -- I'm the main broker and procurer of these 1997-2000-produced units. They usually play manufactured/"silver" CDs without a problem, but they were never designed to play CD-Rs. It is completely hit and miss with those.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm Mike Sin:

re: "Dino's Song" -- that track by QMS never fails to put a big smile on my face.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm Irwin:

Scott was in earlier and explained to me the staff's dependence on these obsolete units and your ongoing acquisition efforts. Thanks, Mike!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm Irwin:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Mike Sin:

re: "If 6 Was 9" -- If someone told me it was Elvin Jones playing drums on the track instead of Mitch Mitchell, I'd totally believe it! Mitch really channeled him on this track!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm chris:

love Redding's bass on this cut, too
Avatar 5:13pm glenn:

new courtney? i haven't heard this.

Avatar 5:17pm TehBadDr:

@Irwin That Courtney was great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm bnowb:

I remember first hearing "the distance"; instant "Cake" fan. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Michael 98145:

she is touring the facility
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm Irwin:

Short Skirt: such a great throwaway track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm Brian C.:

Sweet Jane with alt lyrics?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm bnowb:

Yea, that is one heck of a B side.
Avatar 5:19pm glenn:

cake really is great.
Avatar 5:24pm TDK60:

A quick look at Wikipedia for Axis Bold As Love has no mention of Elvin Jones in the personnel section. Probably Mitchell on drums, who could play jazzy. I think that's why he was chosen by Jimi for the band.
Avatar 5:27pm TehBadDr:

I'll take some spy music with a side of SOB please.
Avatar 5:28pm Seanbelly:

Did Hushdrops do the soundtrack to Three's Company?
Avatar 5:31pm glenn:

Amy Annelle appeared on this show a few years ago. It's in the archives. She's undergone a lot of health probs in the last few years. Spoke with her recently and she hopes to return to recording and performing soon. Lovely gal.

  5:52pm John L. Adams:

Jebus! I used to really groove on P. Glass's music until you hear more than 4 works by him and scream out "Its the Same Fucking thing EVERY TIME!"

Avant-garde / minimalist Wanker. Minimal range, thats for sure!~
  5:55pm Laura L:

This version of Phillip Glass's music sounds better than Phillip Glass's versions of Phillip Glass's music!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm Passaic River Blues:

Thank you, Irwin. Great show today.

Gamelan Pacifica - lovely end to an enjoyable program
