Go ahead and burn.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:02am fred:

Good morning Nate and pyromaniacs. I'm looking forward to this live set
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04am Nate K.:

Hey, Fred. It was a good one. I hope the general good-natured chaos of their session translates to the radio waves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12am fred:

@Nate: Speaking of live sets, do you plan to see Mdou Moctar next week?
Avatar 6:15am Hoboken Jack:

Good morning Nate! Will Aaron Judge catch Mark McGwire (sic)?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16am ultradamno:

Man, I could go for a plate of shrimp right now.
Avatar 6:17am BrassKnuckles:

Aaron Judge four HRs away from breaking Mark McGwire's rookie record.
Avatar 6:17am BrassKnuckles:

Repo Man. After Paris, Texas, my favorite Harry Dean Stanton film
  6:17am jayrope:

Thanx much for the lovely Fish Music from Berlin!
Avatar 6:21am BrassKnuckles:

That sound clip from this track is an homage, right? The janitor from Repo Man with his theories on UFOs, John Wayne being a fag, and scented car fresheners.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22am Nate K.:

@Brassknuckles, I play the clip from time to time and then play a song somewhat related. It's a recurring production touch, we'll call it. Also, RIP Harry Dean Stanton. I watched Repo Man yesterday.
Avatar 6:25am BrassKnuckles:

Such a good movie.
Avatar 6:26am BrassKnuckles:

Nice touch though. Could technique.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28am ultradamno:

Then there's his Lynch to consider: Twin Peaks FWWM, Inland Empire, Straight Story Wild At Heart. Also, Two Lane Blacktop, Alien, Wise Blood, Fear and Loathing. Some of those he's not in that much, but good ones.
Avatar 6:31am BrassKnuckles:

His part in Straight Story might be my third favorite just because he's central to the plot though we don't see him until the end and then his performance crushes the shit out of your soul and makes you realize driving a damn lawnmower to see him before you die is so worth it.
Avatar 6:42am BnowB:

Nate-k Good morning sir . love your show!
Avatar 6:45am BrassKnuckles:

I used to check in Aquarius Records from SF website for latest weekly releases and short reviews. They're gone now. Can anyone direct me to another site that is similar to them? For example, blurbs about a Finders Keepers reissue along with new obscure stuff.
Avatar 6:45am BnowB:

BrassKnuckles - Agree ! Harry Dean killed it and apparently driving your lawn mower is worth it! well said
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49am Nate K.:

Good morning everyone, thanks for dropping by. Live music from Male Gaze coming up around 8:00.
Avatar 6:52am BnowB:

Male Gaze - such an awesome band name!!! love it! lol
Avatar 7:00am BnowB:

Great version is this the original? be your dad.. thats an iggy song?
Avatar 7:02am BrassKnuckles:

Baseball theme again. Andre Ethier is an outfielder for the LA Dodgers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16am Nate K.:

@BrassKnuckles, yes! I was considering pointing that out. The other Andre Ethier sang the Canadian national anthem at a Dodgers - Blue Jays game once.
Avatar 7:21am BnowB:

Smoking myself into oblivion. Happy Sunday
  7:33am cat:

Nate, is your show's name about arson or smoking a doobie?
  7:33am cat:

happy wake and bake sunday bnowb meow
Avatar 7:34am BnowB:

always love your be music nate. Im not sure how long you been a DJ but it seems Ive heard this bed music forever. Your voice familiar but where you always early sunday? i think not..
Avatar 7:36am BnowB:

bed music.. ffs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37am ultradamno:

Looking forward to that Protomartyr
Avatar 7:38am BnowB:

I heard that was good from someone on the boards..
Avatar 7:38am BnowB:

"pass on pass on" isn't that a sonic youth song.. I'm gonna find it...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40am Nate K.:

@Cat, whatever works for you my friend!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40am Nate K.:

@damno, new Protomartyr is IMHO their best yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41am ultradamno:

I'm inclined to believe it if this new track is indicative.
Avatar 7:42am BnowB:

new track is pure fire
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55am ultradamno:

Re: Pitchfork. I don't think I've ever read a review before where a rock singer was criticized for failing to enunciate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:02am Nate K.:

@Ultra Ha! Yeah, seriously, what are they middle school teachers?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:05am fred:

I can't take Pitchfork seriously. I rarely read their reviews, but when a link lands me there I often wonder whether it's all a situationist joke. Their insanely overpriced festival over here doesn't settle that question, but helps making them irrelevant to me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06am ultradamno:

@Nate Reminds me of the first time I saw Pere Ubu. David Thomas made reference to some of the covers of Final Solution that exist, all of which, he said, made "the same STUPID mistake, they sing the words so you can understand them" (or words to that effect).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11am medson:

My Male Gaze records are always in heavy rotation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16am fred:

Sounds good so far, Nate. Makes me want to see them live. And thanks for putting the engineer's name so prominently
Avatar 8:19am BnowB:

@fred agree ..Sound quality amazing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19am Ken From Hyde Park:

Oh dear. That was going so well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20am ultradamno:

I'll jump this bandwagon. This is really good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22am fred:

Their site says they're in Paris next week, but the venue has another band instead. I'm confused
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23am medson:

they killed it at union pool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:24am Nate K.:

@Ken, did you hear something go wrong?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25am Ken From Hyde Park:

It sounded to me like the CD was skipping and then another song started.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27am Ken From Hyde Park:

Wasn't paying attention to which one was playing when I noticed skipping. "Cliffs of Maddness," maybe?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27am Nate K.:

Oh, right, this isn't a CD, though. I think that's just some ambient noise from the studio/digital detritus.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29am medson:

I didn't notice anything. These guys are one of my fav bands
Avatar 8:31am BnowB:

Sounds perfect to me... i heard the band talk between every song. which is cool.. this is a real treat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:32am Ken From Hyde Park:

Maybe it was something on my end. Listening via the phone app and the phone is sending it to the TV's sound bar via Bluetooth. I hope I didn't alarm anyone.
Avatar 8:35am BnowB:

lol @do it live lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35am Nate K.:

Glad everybody is digging it. These dudes were hilarious in the studio. You're only getting a small taste.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35am fred:

Unrelated, but I just ran into this drawing: www.theawl.com...
How come Irwin is only the second most popular boys name?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35am Nate K.:

No worries @Ken!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37am Nate K.:

Sadly a lot of these dates already happened, but that's where the times goes.
Avatar 8:44am BnowB:

surprised how many songs i know by them... an unknowingly educated wfmu listener
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45am medson:

that was amazing. Tell Matt Castleface is one of the best labels.
And thanks for his patience : )
Avatar 8:46am BnowB:

Avatar 8:47am BnowB:

damn sounds so good
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49am medson:

@bnowb The patience thing is a message that comes on every shipping label from Castleface
Avatar 8:52am BnowB:

Ahhh ty median. i dont have spare change for records anymore to be honest. Wfmu my only source.
Avatar 8:52am BnowB:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56am Matt Fiveash:

That version of Dark End of the Street was incredible! What am I doing up? Hey Nate, while I'm thinking of it: gimme a holler in the next week or so, I got a question for you...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57am Stanley:

Well. I listened to the whole of the show, whilst doing the housework etc.. Thanks Nate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58am Nate K.:

Hey, Matt! Yeah, what are you doing up?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58am Nate K.:

Thanks, Stanley. See you guys next week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58am Matt Fiveash:

I have a temporary job this week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59am Matt Fiveash:

Sorry to have answered your rhetorical question!
