Options Brian Turner: Playlist from September 19, 2017 Options

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

I kind of hate the new FMU billboard.

But I love the BT show!
Avatar 3:03pm Brian Turner:

I am here in body anyway. My brain still may be on Qantas.
Avatar 3:03pm Cecile:

As it should be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Michael 98145:

starting to levitate over here -
Avatar 3:09pm Cheri Pi:

You're doing better than Chris M, he's in a shipping container somewhere on his way to Guam.
Avatar 3:10pm Cecile:

Is that Guam thing real?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm Michael 98145:

it sure sounded like it is ...
Avatar 3:11pm Cecile:

He lies a whole lot.
Avatar 3:12pm Cheri Pi:

Yes, he's been exiled to Guam.
Avatar 3:12pm Chris from DC:

Oh nice segue.
Avatar 3:12pm Cecile:

what for?

Bummed that I missed fEEDTIME last night.

Avatar 3:14pm Cheri Pi:

I'm really not sure. I think romance is involved though.
Avatar 3:16pm Cecile:

Guam, though.
  3:16pm Mark Williams:

he's Guam and left us.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm Michael 98145:

- i ride all day on an elephant -
Avatar 3:18pm Cheri Pi:

As someone who worshipped Jim Morrison as much as he did, maybe he's exploring the Guam/George Stephen Morrison connection thing... it's anyone's guess really.
Avatar 3:30pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

  3:31pm rw:

coffee filters are disposable now?
Avatar 3:33pm Chris from DC:

Just talking in that voice will probably discourage your suitor.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm Rich in Washington:

Gundella sounds like something you'd have to take penicillin for a month for.
Avatar 3:34pm Cecile:

Avatar 3:35pm Wild Neil:

Hey, is it Chris M's birthday? I think Chris M. said he used to fold newspapers in Paris on a park bench in order to raise money for food.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm joe mulligan:

Did Wm sing this at the hoof & mouth sinfonia one year?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm Rich in Washington:

Funny how much witchy/devil stuff that was considered trivial or harmless prior to the mid 70s would get condemned as part of the Worldwide Satanic CON-spiracy™ now.
Avatar 3:36pm Fox (Rā-chul):

This is exactly what it's like losing NYC.
Avatar 3:40pm Cheri Pi:

It always makes me a li'l misty
Avatar 3:43pm Cheri Pi:

Chris M did a good job.
Avatar 3:43pm Fox (Rā-chul):

Hah, and my bf is currently in LA for a month, scoping it out, thinking of moving there, missing being a New Yorker.

Avatar 3:47pm Cecile:

Hum. I dunno. It is going to be hell week that week for me (dental procedures and other surgery). I did see them once...but still.
Avatar 3:50pm Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm Rory:

Still devastated over William's passing...Every time I've tuned in I hear Uncle Wiggly in a set and I have turn off FMU. Sorry for being a downer on the comments board. I've been a mess...
Avatar 3:57pm Cecile:

Rory, I know.
  4:06pm Polyus:

Really like this Brix tune.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm Rory:

Got to see X back in May. They still got it!
  4:15pm Morgan:

Yeah Pere Ubu! Have to keep an ear out
  4:16pm zuki:

when is Pere Ubu visiting
  4:18pm Mark Williams:

Brian - sorry, can you say again the label putting out the new Rebel release?
  4:20pm pp:

kind of a Marianne Faithful vibe from Kendra
Avatar 4:22pm Brian Turner:

Monofonus Press, Mark.
Avatar 4:22pm Brian Turner:

@zuki, Nov 21.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm Chop Scott:

Welcome back Brian!
  4:24pm Mark Williams:

thank you, Brian.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm Rory:

So good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm Rory:

  4:34pm zuki:

I saw Pere Ubu at Hurrahs on their second visit to NYC - 1977 - talked to DT between sets, he denied ever listening to Captain Beefheart.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm Rory:

Warsaw! Click!
Avatar 4:38pm Cheri Pi:

one of my favorite bootlegs
Avatar 4:39pm Brian Turner:

I picked it up used in Sydney. Is it pretty much the complete Warsaw stuff?
Avatar 4:40pm Cheri Pi:

Yeppers. I have it too and have had it on cd
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm Michael 98145:

Now we're cookin' with gas
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm ɨkɛ:

This is amazing. (A friend has written a non-fiction book about Mickey Mouse. I'll have to point him towards this song.)
Avatar 4:52pm Chris from DC:

I need to go back and listen to the Eyes' "Disneyland". Old favorite.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm common:

  4:58pm Adam from Vancouver:

Same, Rory, same.
  5:00pm Adam from Vancouver:

About Wm., I mean.
Avatar 5:07pm dfb:

giant claw - yeah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm Rory:

@Adam- We'll get through this. Just tough to lose him so suddenly like that. Going to miss bonding with him on trashy horror films, depression and our love for the Butthole Surfers and other cool stuff like that...
Avatar 5:18pm Cecile:

we bonded over drag queens, Steely Dan and Satyricon, but I know what you mean, Rory.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm Rory:

@Cecile- Black Metal for sure! He got me into so much obscure bm and I thought I knew alot of bm bands. Dude was a genius!
Avatar 5:28pm Stay Frosty:

Intriguing title for this piece. Would be cool to see it live.
  5:31pm Adam from Vancouver:

I agree, Rory! To have this community cannot be measured. Wm.'s show was definitely a bright spot for me every week!! You're so correct, I sometimes think I know about noise and black metal music, but that guy had his fingers dug so much more deeply into both than myself. I get a bit choked up every time I think about his lost future voice.
Avatar 5:32pm Cecile:

Me, too, Adam.
But his last show was kind of cool. It's like he knew tomorrow wasn't necessarily his to have and he was all right with it.
  5:32pm Zax:

ha! got +DOG+ from BT @ wfmu stand, bklyn 2012... ahhh, them memories
Avatar 5:33pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I have missed everything.

Avatar 5:35pm Cecile:

The surgery stuff freaked me out, and turned me off them for years!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm ɨkɛ:

Matmos will get a knighthood in the Interdimensional Backwards-Church of Eki-ikE for smashing Bread records. Or a loaf of fresh-baked bread.
Avatar 5:38pm Cecile:

Bread kind of creep me out. So I didn't have much problem with them smashing them.
  5:40pm Adam from Vancouver:

Yes thank you for mentioning that Cecile I really got that sense as well. To go to the heavily used cliché it's likely very very much more difficult on us than it was for him
Avatar 5:42pm Cecile:

Jethro Tull?
Avatar 5:42pm Cecile:

Yes, exactly Adam.
Avatar 5:49pm Cecile:

What a damn week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm Michael 98145:

Thanks, and welcome back, Brian T
  5:56pm Clara Sánchez:

What a wonderful show, Brian! Thank you very much!
Avatar 5:57pm Brian Turner:

Thanks for tuning in everyone. Sorry about my brainlag! I'll be sharp as a tack next week...
