Avatar 12:18pm Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm mb:

Anytime i hear a band played 3 times in a row i get SRV flashbacks and become nervous someone from the band died.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm steveo:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Stevel:

  12:20pm Cooh John:

  12:22pm Cooh John:

Bogblast all on us.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm blee:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm steveo:

butter bristle?
Avatar 12:24pm MenfussMike:

@MB that's EXACTLY what I was thinking when I heard Diane going into Am I Going Insane. I was working on a spreadsheet and had to check the WFMU page to make sure Bill Ward didn't die. Whew!
Avatar 12:26pm V Priceless:

Bill Ward still alive and well, and making music, thank the gods!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm steveo:

ah yes, I hear the swish/swish/swish of zorro's sword!
  12:28pm Bob:

Ha ha, I thought the same thing! Had to Google to see if anyone died.
  12:28pm JayD:

Yeah! Digging this Sabbath stretch!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm steveo:

there's no way we would have all made it to noon without knowing someone in black sabbath had died, though, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks for the Black Sabbath set. Glad to hear there's no bad news about the band.
Avatar 12:30pm MenfussMike:

Avatar 12:31pm Cheri Pi:

  12:32pm foreign_listener_k:

I cannot resist Temptation, personally
Avatar 12:34pm Cecile:

Do you have Geisha Boys and Temple Girls?
Avatar 12:34pm Diane Kamikaze:

Serendipity, Cecile!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Rich in Washington:

@Ken From Hyde Park: I thought the same thing. Was listening but unable to look at the playlist/chat until recently. I'd assumed the worst.
Avatar 12:36pm Cecile:

  12:37pm Tom from Maplewood:

Easy musical trivia: Heaven 17 got their name from the scene in the record store in Kubrick's "A Clockwork Orange" where Alex meets the two teen bimbos, er, sexualized young females who didn't seem too bright. Alex takes them home, and, er, dances.
Avatar 12:38pm V Priceless:

Glen Gregory has also been holding down the Bowie parts with Woody Woodmansey's Holy Holy, playing all of TMWSTW + other Spiders-era tunes, with Tony Visconti playing bass, etc.
Avatar 12:39pm Diane Kamikaze:

Glen Gregory has the greatest voice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm tallbuildings:

can't believe I missed the Sabbath!
Avatar 12:41pm Diane Kamikaze:

As much as I was into much more aggressive music, the voices on SO MANY of the dance / new wave tracks at that time were all great
  12:42pm songerism:

Is this song in the movie Suburbia?
Avatar 12:43pm Cecile:

I agree. I love Marc Almond more than is reasonable, early Phil Oakey, and Glen Gregory! Alison Moyet!
Avatar 12:44pm Diane Kamikaze:

@songerism, no, you may be thinking of Alex Gibson in terms of similarity!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Rich in Washington:

Diane! We need to hear This Fascist Groove Thang!
  12:44pm foreign_listener_k:

Giving in to temptation - you better believe it
Avatar 12:47pm V Priceless:

@ DK - GG is a great fit for DB - who'd a thunk it? Though it makes perfect sense, as lots of these guys were no doubt influenced by the starman
Avatar 12:47pm Diane Kamikaze:

@VP, oh yeah they were!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm Rich in Washington:

Oh yeah!
Avatar 12:48pm Cheri Pi:

  12:49pm Brian:

Avatar 12:52pm Cecile:

I had a tape in the 80s. One side was Heaven 17, the other was Hall and Oates' H2O. I wore it out.
  12:58pm Dean:

Re: Clockwork Orange: There the band name appears Heaven Seventeen, i.e., no numerals.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm DreamCricket:

WEEE jamming so hard at my desk - people are feeling my feels!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm DreamCricket:

Avatar 1:08pm V Priceless:

H17's "Let Me Go" got tons of airplay here in the NYC-metro area (WLIR) - and other major US markets - circa '82.
Avatar 1:09pm Chris from DC:

Yep, I was in school there at that time.
Avatar 1:11pm Cheri Pi:

Mind blown
Avatar 1:15pm Cheri Pi:

Spot on re: Bernie
  1:16pm Dawn:

Yo, is Bernie aware of Jesse Rae and the amazing music he is still making - genius audacious Scottish collaborator of Bernie Worrel..
  1:17pm Dawn:

I mean Martyn (Ware) - is he aWARE?
Avatar 1:19pm Cecile:

I always said that people often played synths in the 70s too musically. they were just playing crappy melodies that sounded even crappier synthesized.
  1:23pm jaime sommers:

I have those Sparky records! Found them in my mother's collection, my son loves them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm chris:

well-deserved congratulations, Mr. Ware!
Avatar 1:29pm Cheri Pi:

It's not boring at all! Let's geek out
  1:32pm seth from muddy creek:

Great interview. Cheers!
Avatar 1:36pm Cecile:

Avatar 1:38pm Cecile:

Best of luck, Martyn!
