Heya Duane!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Ah, cool. Nice little tribute to Walter Becker.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm JtotheK:

hi duane, hello everyone.
Avatar 12:03pm Duane:

Hi ya Cheri..Ken! Yup..a lil Walter B. Tribute for an hour or so
  12:03pm The Moist One:

Any Roy Ayers in the future?
Avatar 12:04pm Duane:

TMO: hopefully not TOO soon:) he's still with us
Avatar 12:09pm Cheri Pi:

One of my earliest memories too is also of Steely Dan's music <3 It was a favorite of American expats in Japan
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm AnAnonymousParty:

Steely Dan: Never the same band twice. Larry Carlton turned the "Peg" riff into an entire song (Room 335).
  12:11pm The Moist One:

Duane, thanks !!! A classic from Roy Ayers. Still have and love my vinyl
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm Passaic River Blues:

I think you played an interesting Terrence Parker song several weeks ago that sampled "Aja".
Avatar 12:13pm Jshatan:

Roll out the bones and raise up your pitcher
Raise up your glass to Walter Becker - one of the kings, for sure.
  12:15pm frenchee:

love this demo version! thanks Duane
Avatar 12:21pm Dominick:

Oh, I'm gonna be digging this
  12:22pm jess:

love this! will you play Peg?
Avatar 12:23pm PW:

Lord Tariq and Peter Guns in our future?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm JtotheK:

Organized Konfusion, haven't listened to this in a while!
Avatar 12:28pm Lixiviated Life:

Duuuuuuuuuuu-aaaaaaane Trrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaiiinnnn
  12:29pm The Moist One:

Making me think Maggot Brain
Avatar 12:33pm Jshatan:

This Ice track is sick! I was just looking at The Royal Scam last night and noted that Becker and Fagen gave Paul Griffin co-writing credit on The Fez - I guess that clavinet is all him!
  12:35pm chris:

Listening and loving it. Hi, Duane and all.
Avatar 12:36pm Jshatan:

London 74 was smoking - I also have a Record Plant session from then that's pretty damn good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm Passaic River Blues:

I bet Prince Paul would have something to say about the passing of Becker. He definitely mined some SD for De La. Also, this live cut is killer.
Avatar 12:43pm kwhitehead:

This live track is incredible. Where can I find it?
Avatar 12:46pm Jshatan:

They were also playing "My So-Called Mobile Home" on tour - never released a studio version of that song!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Your Ace From Exchange Place:

@kwhitehead www.pastemagazine.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Poco is playing ... Andy Breckman should know about this.
Avatar 12:55pm dale:

i really like this poco dan tune!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm Michael 98145:

is this the new wedding march ? :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm The Oscar:

To me, Steely Dan is the sound of riding in my dad's car as a kid-- all their albums are fully ingrained in my subconscious. Amazing how unmistakable their songwriting is, even when covered by someone else.
  1:14pm Eyal:

this is great music !
Swag For Life Member 1:14pm jamesmulry:

any song about new york = automatic like from me
Avatar 1:15pm Duane:

Jamesmulry: it's so good!!
  1:19pm david from ks.:

,,,a steam powered dildo ? I was always wondering what Steely Dan was a reference to. I guess I should read more of W.S. Burroughs material. Hmm. Classy sound none the less. Good stuff DJD !
Avatar 1:26pm Little Danny:

Love this Anthony Shakir... When was it recorded, Duane?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm AnAnonymousParty:

Avatar 1:39pm Duane:

Thanks for all the nice comments. glad you;re diggin:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm -Ken:

Duane, this track (The Bear) is out of phase - half the song is missing when listening in mono.
Avatar 1:40pm Cecile:

I didin't follow them religiously, but they had an incredible influence on my development.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm AnAnonymousParty:

The singer? He's in the basement, just follow the sound of his voice.
Avatar 1:41pm Duane:

ken: yeah that's the demo quality unfortunately of the track
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm AnAnonymousParty:

Almost sounds like a monitor mix.

such a good show @Cecile
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm Kat in Chicago:

Got pulled into a meeting :( looks like I have to revisit this one!
Avatar 2:05pm Polyus:

I don't think there is another DJ that could make me enjoy a Steely Dan tribute, much less want to go back and listen again. Nicely done, Duane.
Avatar 2:08pm Duane:

Thanks Polyus!!
  2:08pm luke:

listening in from the Swiss Alps, Duane. Nice set, that shakir is ridiculously good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm AnAnonymousParty:

Hammond B3 has 61 keys top and bottom, he's usin' 'em all.
Avatar 2:10pm Duane:

thanks Luke!!
Avatar 2:14pm Cecile:

this sounds like "the money checks"
Avatar 2:17pm Cecile:

wow, this is a Rare Earth song that doesn't suck.
Avatar 2:18pm Duane:

Cecile: there's a few. that "MA" Norman Whitfield album is pretty dope!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm AnAnonymousParty:

Hey, this isn't "Get Ready"!
Avatar 2:19pm Cecile:

My autistic brother in law saw Rare Earth in Calumet, MI this summer, and pronounced them awesome.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Michael 98145:

( the intensity of autism could lead to some fascinating music criticism )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm mb:

Great show, Duane! Better if not as good as your Prince tribute.
Avatar 2:23pm Cecile:

He likes a whole lot of different things. He's more open-minded musically than most neurotypical people I know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm AnAnonymousParty:

Rare Earth played at a Homecoming in Bethalto Illinois ~2001. Bethalto is not a large town. It's barely a small town. Everybody there was like, "WTF, where'd these guys come from?" Apparently it was some friend/relative thing that happened while they were on their way from point A to B.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Michael 98145:

@Cecile, i'm still amazed to encounter people who have no interest in music whatsoever. sad, really.
  2:26pm Alan:

Streaming to my ears late night in Bangkok! That's a first!
  2:27pm luke:

one night in Bangkok
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm Michael 98145:

Good evening, Siam
Avatar 2:29pm Cecile:

I know. I'm related to two of them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm AnAnonymousParty:

Duane, I think you got a dozen gold stars outta me today. Well done sir!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Michael 98145:

- and here's one more
  2:35pm chris:

Killing it, Duane! This is the train with the most gain!
Avatar 2:35pm Cecile:

Otis is feeling it. Lots of times reggae covers make the original real sleepy.
Avatar 2:36pm Cecile:

tough arrangement, too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Michael 98145:

( fondly recall trying to center those off-punched 7-inchers on the turntable .... )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm AnAnonymousParty:

@cecile, it's the 2-4 groove that does that.
Avatar 2:39pm Cecile:

yeah, but this last arrangement had some snap to it. Didn't plod along.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm AnAnonymousParty:

Guess it's the difference between simply changing the beat vs. making the beat work with the arrangement.
Avatar 2:42pm Cecile:

I think that's that it is!
  2:46pm A.T.F.:

There would be no D without the Dragon..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Michael 98145:

As always, thanks again, DJ Duane

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Passaic River Blues:

  11:22pm Becky:

  11:45pm Becky:

Hi--back again. Seriously this is the best SD tribute EVER. Steely Dan has been my favorite band since I was 12, and I have not heard most of this stuff. Illuminating! 11/10!
