I don't know if there's any getting it, either a piece of music works for you or it doesn't. And that's fine, nobody has to like anything.

"... nobody has to like anything."
Nobody has to like anything.
Nobody HAS TO like anything.

That put a lot of pressure on nobody.
I guess Nobody has to be the most accepting and open minded person ever.

I knew Fabio was going to play this.

Avatar 3:21pm Cecile:

DAMN. Great seg.
  3:22pm Mark Williams:

the present Wire really misses the sonic touches of Bruce Gilbert's guitar. This was one of the last examples of that. Oh well.
Avatar 3:22pm Lixiviated Life:

Seems to me that nobody has to love everybody. Apparently it's a precept for nobody.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm steveo:

Well your nobody called today
She hung up when I asked her name
Well I wonder does she think she's being clever?
You say nobody's after you
The fact is what you say is true
But I can love you like nobody can, even better
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm Polyus:

@mark - I have been liking the "new guy", but I know what you mean.
Still thinking about a last-minute road trip to Chicago to see them in a couple of weeks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm billf:

Fabio, thank you for this segment of good-times rock and roll!

I found with new sounds to just let them all flow over you. Then write down the ones that you like, hate or bother you.
  3:27pm Mark Williams:

via a process of lixiviation, Cecile?
Avatar 3:28pm Chris from DC:

@Mark, yeah curious as to where Wire is at now.

Sure. Or precipitation. Or winnowing or sorting.

They are engaging - being incredibly good and anti-audience at the same time.

Even more awkward is interrupting the soulless airport intercourse to bleat about it on th'comment board...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm Polyus:

@Dr - I have seen it covered by a band with 8 guitar players and 2 bass players. That was definitely over the top.

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:27pm The Oscar:

Just caught up with this week's TP. I've honestly been loving Dougie, but damn that was satisfying.
Avatar 4:28pm V Priceless:

@ Polyus - me too - but I'm gonna be sad to see it conclude, too - fairly certain this is gonna be the end, at least on film. Frost's book, 'The Final Dossier', out on Halloween, will no doubt have more to say...
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:30pm chris:

hi all. ita, The Oscar. very satisfying.

this Pinahs/Ambarchi track is insanely good, Fabio.
Avatar 🎸 4:30pm TDK60:

I like how the drums seem to be out front on this.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:31pm The Oscar:

@VP Yeah, Lynch has pretty much said he has no immediate plans to return to Twin Peaks, or even to make any more movies (though he won't rule either out). But damn, if this is his last narrative work, what a capper to a career.
Avatar 4:32pm V Priceless:

@ The Oscar - his greatest work, IMHO
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:34pm ⓘⓚⓔ:

Yeah, a lot of the season was slow but hypnotic, but now it's moving QUICK. Sadly the ratings (at least on regular linear Showtime) have been bad, so this should be the end. And what an end, indeed.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:38pm The Oscar:

@VP Agreed-- at the very least, absolutely his most ambitious. These past few months have been such a gift.
Avatar 4:43pm chocolate monk:

  4:43pm JakeGould:

No disrespect about season 3 devotees, but I really just want to know how it all wraps up.
Avatar 4:45pm V Priceless:

Lynch's direction demands the viewer to engage Season 3 at a pace that seems even more deliberate and lingering in this nutty 'instant info' digital age then it did back in '91, which I personally find thrilling. Made lots of light-weight 'fans' uncomfy, but also weeded them out early. So be it! Ha!
Avatar 4:46pm V Priceless:

"gift" is the perfect word, @ The Oscar
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:46pm ⓘⓚⓔ:

@Jake, I thought you had started watching S3? No? Couldn't take the glacial pace?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:46pm mrdonutsu:

Ah, this old gimcrack...
Avatar 🎸 4:46pm TDK60:

I thought this sounded like Terry Riley
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm northguineahills:

I love this period of Terry Riley (as well as the others)
Avatar 🎸 4:48pm Bas NL:

Hi Fabio, All. Yes! Swag's in today! Including Fabio's Premium.. he, he, all good things come at once! ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm northguineahills:

What V Priceless said...
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:51pm mrdonutsu:

If you gave up before the "Slow 30s" room in "Gotta Light?" you get what your deserve...
  4:53pm KenW:

What V Priceless said ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar 4:54pm geezerette:

Terry Riley is such a brain-spa. :)
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 4:55pm mrdonutsu:

And of course, by gimcrack, I meant no actual criticism of the work of Terry Riley.
Avatar 4:58pm geezerette:

He's the aural equivalent to Light & Space visual art. Also, sonic landscape.
  4:59pm JakeGould:

@Ike: The pace was not as bad to me as the darkness and the potential the story has for apologizing for the incest and rape of Laura Palmer via interdimensional spirits.

Also, I find that “tree” instead of a dancing midget to be bullshit.

Happy Lynch has been given a platform for his art, but I’m done with “Twin Peaks.”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm northguineahills:

Yes, I needed that brain-spa!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 5:06pm ⓘⓚⓔ:

The ugly story behind the guy who played the dwarf turning into a brain-tree is that the dwarf actor went batshit-crazy and accused Lynch of horrifying insane conspiracy theory-type stuff. I wouldn't have brought him back either.
Avatar 5:06pm geezerette:

Jake, recently saw "Mulholland Drive" for the first time and felt the same way. Think I'm done with Lynch altogether, even though my own conservatism surprises me. I don't need his darkness in my head.
  5:13pm nic:

love this !!!
  5:14pm JakeGould:

I think David Lynch is a great visual artist and he really creates an atmosphere in all of his works. Ever hear of an “Escape Room?” I think he could create an amazing one. But all of his stories and plots are ultimately pedestrian and simple at best. I love “Blue Velvet” but the plot is silly. It’s the world he creates that’s great.

And as far as effing with the genre goes, I think this Showtime series is basically a statement of, “You want to binge on a whole TV series? Binge on this!”
Avatar 5:15pm TehBadDr:

Love this drone!
  5:16pm JakeGould:

@Ike: I heard the midget went nuts. But still, I’m watching this crappy CGI tree and just cannot suspend disbelief.
Avatar 🎸 5:19pm TDK60:

It's heartening to me to know Terry Riley is still around, making music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm common:

Happy Thursday Fabio et al
  5:21pm KenW:

LOVING THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar 5:22pm geezerette:

Yeah, Lynch knows art history as much as film and music history; no argument on the strength of his image making.
  5:25pm nic:

love this !!!
Avatar 5:26pm geezerette:

Avatar 🎸 5:28pm TDK60:

Ah, it's an LP...hear the pops?
  5:28pm KenW:

Lynch has brought the unhinged tangental logic>illogic of dream imagery to television in a way that nobody ever has, or probably ever will. TP3 is tremendous, and especially wonderful that he came out of semiretirement to produce his ultimate masterwork.
  5:28pm nic:

i just watched Mulholland Drive i thought it was all pretty lame even for a dark dream Naomi Watts was great
  5:29pm Jonathan:

Very cool music. Very meditative for me which came just at the right moment.
  5:31pm nic:

love this 2 !!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm Fabio:

@KenW: AGREED! right on the money!
  5:44pm KenW:

Thanks Fabio, that means alot!
Avatar 5:46pm geezerette:

Agree he's a great visual artist, a surrealist, love the way he uses music, but you can't love absolutely everything.
I think of him as the flip side of Disney in a way. Together, they provide a fairly complete illustration of the American (searches for less cliched word but can't find one...), "psyche".
Avatar 5:48pm geezerette:

And I love Hitchcock & Man Ray, go figure.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 5:50pm Carmichael:

Heya Fabs and art lovers.
  5:52pm KenW:

@geezerette, this season's Twin Peaks is by far the best thing Lynch has ever done, it's got everything I ask for in an artists work, especially the difficult parts that you have to struggle through, which ultimately makes the show a visionary's art piece rather than the by committee television show. Just my opinion of course,,,,
Avatar 5:54pm TehBadDr:

I have images of Laura getting down and dirty!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm northguineahills:
