Greetings Jeff
  12:01am KP:

Awesome Roger track, Jeff. Now we're rolling
  12:04am sam:

Evening Jeff...Wow haven't heard the McGuinn track in ages. Need to pull the album out. Great start!
Avatar 12:05am northguineahills:

Well, this starting superb, Roger McGuinn into Shelagh McDonald.
  12:07am MONEYBAG$:

Just realized I was listening to this and a Roy Montgomery record at the same time which didn't sound quite right
  12:08am east hollywood:

New. Avant Ghetto T shirt just arrived. Super special couture!
Avatar 12:09am northguineahills:

@MONEYBAG$. That sounds quite correct. Roy Montgomery goes w/ everything, like hot sauce....
Avatar 12:10am Jeff Conklin:

Morning, everyone
  12:12am MONEYBAG$:

if Roy was droning in a different key maybe
Avatar 12:15am northguineahills:

@MONEYBAG$: you just need to take the Cageian approach....
  12:47am Santos L Halper:

Hey Jeff and all. Got my shirt recently too : ) Been digging on the archives, nice to catch some live. Gotta crash though, chasing the sun tomorrow. Hope the SC clouds will part so I can see that star go dark...
  12:48am zenkoan:

What an especially beautiful first set this has been
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52am Tome:

Great stuff indeed AHHH t!!!
Avatar 12:54am northguineahills:

Being channeled by Channelers.
Avatar 12:56am Jeff Conklin:

Got some great new music this week. Glad you are all enjoying
Avatar 1:05am northguineahills:

Dialed the right channel to channel the Channelers in the Channel.
  1:07am rw:

50/50 sounds like pretty good odds to me for unsolicited music.
  1:08am rw:

And hello! Enjoying the show (as always).
Avatar 1:11am Jeff Conklin:

50/50 may have been a bit generous but oh well (and thanks)

I head the Dead on another WFMU show this week, on Friday night Thatcher Keats was filling in and played an Eyes of the World.

Avatar 1:37am Jeff Conklin:

Seems like this Grateful Dead band may be catching on...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39am Fuzzy:

I was only 8 years old
my Dad was 23
a different time when we were young and free
when the Dead played this version of Bobby McGee
Avatar 1:40am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

It was from the first Wall of Sound show, it was really good.
Avatar 1:41am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

ha ha speak of the devil

This "Eyes of the World" is pretty jazzy. I always thought Phil was kind of the unsung hero of the Dead.
Avatar 1:47am Jeff Conklin:

@Mark: This be their jazziest year
  1:49am Mark R:

I've been really enjoying your Dead hours every week. Your arcane knowledge of the Dead strengths from year to year is really informative and has definitely expanded my ears.
Avatar 1:55am Jeff Conklin:

@Mark: Cheers!
  1:56am Mark R:

Speaking of '73, I love Jerry and Merl Saunders at the Keystone Corner stuff from July '73 also.
  2:17am dave b.:

Just gotta say.
This era of GD has always been my personal favorite.
Its nice to hear it on the airwaves/webwaves.
I have a very old cassette copy of this bootleg.
I started listening to GD around 1982 and saw them for the first time in 1983.
As fun and good as it was, I always felt like the best part of the party had already happened. It was always a journey through the past, and this was and and still is a fine example of how good a band GD were. Beautiful segues and improvisational playing . Simply beautiful stuff. I love the sound mix of 72/74. You can really hear everyone so distinctively. Lesh and Weir shine. Beautiful music.
  2:28am Mark R:

This Dion track is beautiful. It literally wasn't til that lost album came out earlier this year that I understood what a deep, soulful artist he is. I only knew the early Belmonts stuff. He's a serious artist, and tracks like this prove it. I thought this was Neil Young at first.
  2:35am Mark R:

It turns out most of my favorite Band tunes were sung by Rick Danko.

Thanks for listening, everyone. See you next time...

I hope Rick Deitrick's partner wasn't nervous or anxious cause, you know, you never knew when he came in...Good night. North Korea.
  1:14pm JD:

Very very fine show again Jeff with some big favourites (Nic Jones, Renbourn etc)! Immediately ordered that Rick Deitrick LP on TS, sounds great.
  4:53pm Lucky:

Caught up now. Whew! The McGuinn made me think of Space Opera - similar, but different. The Byrds were a band that had underrated jams. Great show.
