Hi Mary and Whatevernicks!
Avatar 12:40pm Mary Wing:

Howdy, doctorjazz!
  12:48pm Dean:

Totes whatevs.
Avatar 12:51pm Mary Wing:

Fer shure, Dean!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Ike:

Thanks for supplying sounds to block out my coworkers, who are noisy and rumbustious today. Also, I just discovered the word "rumbustious" (boisterious or unruly) today.
Avatar 1:08pm Mary Wing:

I like that word, Ike; hope I can remember to use it soon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm Ike:

Seems like you play Lush a fair amount. And I'm always chuffed* to hear it!

adjective, British, informal
very pleased.
  1:43pm Dean:

I wonder if "Solar Ass" is inspired by George Bataille's essay "Solar Anus"?
Avatar 1:48pm Mary Wing:

Heh. Maybe...
  2:03pm Dean:

Nope: "'Solar Ass’ was written as a love song to a donkey..." Bataille, OTOH, uh, https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/georges-bataille-the-solar-anus
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm Webhamster Henry:

200% Whatever today!
Avatar 2:07pm Mary Wing:

166% actually. :-)
Avatar 2:32pm northguineahills:

Busy right now, but I just wanted give Mary a giant hallo!
Avatar 2:32pm northguineahills:

(that was ambiguously spelled wrong on purpose)
Avatar 2:32pm Mary Wing:

Hi NGH, did you move yet?
Avatar 2:33pm fred:

Good afternoon Mary and all. I'm happy to get 50% whatever instead of my usual negligible score
Avatar 2:37pm Mary Wing:

Participation Ribbon for Fred!
Avatar 2:38pm northguineahills:

Yep, I moved, involved w/ the epic headache of getting auto insurance so I can pick up my motor carriage. Barely got four hours of sleep as I tried to go to bed 'early' last night w/ melatonin. two more puzzle pieces to be fixed by tomorrow.
Avatar 2:41pm Mary Wing:

That's one hurdle almost done. When does the new job start?
Avatar 2:42pm northguineahills:

Well, I'm back in the third grade....
Avatar 2:45pm northguineahills:

@fred: I was in the middle of a late night move, and Daniel Menche was played, and I mentioned how you wanted to get him to appear at IRCAM. Then it appeared that before my comment posted, the real Daniel Menche commented. I wish I could remember which dj it was, the last few days have blurred.
  2:47pm Dean:

Here it is, @ngh: http://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/74160
Avatar 2:52pm northguineahills:

PSA: If you're older then 18, and have a copious amount of vinyl, hire movers, even if there are no flight of stairs.
Avatar 2:52pm northguineahills:

Now I remember why I used to....
Avatar 2:53pm Mary Wing:

Oh that's annoying, these turntables don't turn off slowly like the ones in studio B do.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm doctorjazz:

Love this English Beat, not so much at this speed.

When I moved (many years ago, much vinyl then, much less than now...), I had movers. They looked at the smallish LP cases, figured it was nothing much. By the end of the move, they were sticking pins in a doll with my likeness...
Avatar 2:55pm northguineahills:

back to the phone, thanks Mary!

Mary, use a finger for a tiny bit of friction on the outside of the record. (I used to be accused of being a turntabilist).
Avatar 2:56pm Mary Wing:

Yeah, I'm trying but it's a bother. So much for this great idea. :-P
Avatar 2:57pm fred:

@ngh: I guess that dream got more unlikely though: I'd been working on a couple of guys who had a lot of influence on the residency process, but one left to start his own company. And the other is about to retire. I don't have the new guys' ear at all
Avatar 2:58pm northguineahills:

@fred: Keep dreaming the good fight, someone has too!
Avatar 3:03pm fred:

Nice that it happened on Daniel Blumin's show: two of my pals have been guests there
  3:09pm JakeGould:

Woo! Extra innings!
Avatar 3:10pm Mary Wing:

Bonus dopeyness, yep!
  3:14pm JakeGould:

Saw a really cool dog in the park.
  3:15pm Dean:

Avatar 3:17pm fred:

This French lesson record must be quite old
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm Stanley:

Have we switched to the stream? This is the most weird shit I've heard on WFMU for a long time.
Or have i been transported to another reality?
  3:19pm Dean:

Please, please have a Navajo lesson!
Avatar 3:20pm Mary Wing:

This is the stream, Stanley!

I wish I had Navajo instruction!
Avatar 3:30pm northguineahills:

I have many language instruction records, but none in Navajo.....
Avatar 3:57pm fred:

Good thing it wasn't Bohemian Rhapsody, some of us still have PTSD from that infamous Ken show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm doctorjazz:

(I loved that Ken show, have inflicted in from the archives on former friends...)
Avatar 4:08pm Mary Wing:

The best was the drunk guy's version, heh.
Avatar 4:14pm fred:

@Mary: right! that was epic
Avatar 4:39pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Go Mary go. Thanks for this marathon!
  4:46pm Dean:

Wait. You're telling me that you found a Navajo instruction file?! While I was away at a meeting?!
Avatar 4:47pm fred:

I know it's ludicrous, but this Laurie Anderson track reminds me of FMU alumnus Ed Shepp
Avatar 4:47pm Mary Wing:

Yes, I did a little search on the interwebs, Dean, and found some stuff.
Avatar 4:47pm northguineahills:

Haven't heard this Laurie Anderson....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm doctorjazz:

Thanks Mary, gotta run (tickets tonight for Sex Mob, with John Madeski and Nels Cline, psyched!)
Avatar 4:49pm Mary Wing:

Wow, nice, doctorjazz-- enjoy!
  4:50pm Dean:

The irony cuts both ways on this one. Arguably, we have DJT here in the US because a lot of well-placed voters--albeit not a majority--believe that expertise is overrated.
Avatar 4:57pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Oh, I'm up next! Two hours, first a happyscape ("Swirled Freely") of musical electronics and wordly field recordings; then, a scaryscape "You Have Nowhere to Go (What's Wrong?)", an repurposing of Walter Murch's sound montage work in 1971's THX 1138.

Come play in just a few minutes! wfmu.org...
Avatar 4:58pm northguineahills:

Thanks Mary!
Avatar 5:00pm fred:

Thanks Mary! I hope I'll be able to escape work earlier next week (that would probably take waking up earlier though)
