I'm liking this Seduction Through Witchcraft.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28am Passaic River Blues:

This is a weapons-grade track.
Avatar 9:37am PKNY:

Cymande, all hell yeah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40am The Oscar:

Morning! Just tuning in-- bummed I missed Huebner!!
Avatar 9:43am northguineahills:

nas dropping an ethiopiques organ lick sample....
Avatar 9:43am Wild Neil:

PEACE all. This is sampled music from Broken Flowers! I forget the guy's name...its very cool! I REALLY like the Hip Hop Marty plays....its usually a couple cuts above the usual crap on the radio. Just like with Country music...the old stuff is better by far.
Avatar 9:45am Marty McSorley:

yeah the Mulatu Astatke sample is from Yègellé Tezeta killer track
Avatar 9:46am Chris from DC:

This Delinquent Habits is always good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46am Sebastian:

I like what I hear!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am Passaic River Blues:

I could listen to a 40-minute cut of this vamping.
  9:53am Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am listener Rey:

piano solos are one of the things I really miss in contemporary salsa
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58am Greg from ZONE 5:

Morning, gang
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03am Greg from ZONE 5:

Shaq gets a lifetime pass for "What's Up Doc?" w/ Fu-Schnickens.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04am listener Rey:

Yes! Shaq-Fu was killin' it back in the day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05am The Oscar:

Shaq is apparently dating a woman from Gardner, MA, in the backwoods zone I grew up in, and occasionally does charity work there. Gardner is ALSO home to the world's biggest chair. If we can get a photo of Shaq sitting in the chair, I will die a happy man.
  10:05am Cecile:

Compared to the crap out there, he sounds like f'ng Kool G Rap.

Digging this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am MD:

Outstanding !!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am MD:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08am Itzall Ablurr:

Shaq is great, it's not even up for debate. Question for all of you who may know- is that him on those commercials for "The General" insurance company? My TV ain't great, I can't really tell if it's just a "lookalike". Seems weird that he would do those, unless of course he OWNS the company. Inquiring minds...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09am The Oscar:

@Itzall It is-- I feel like Shaq is in like every other commercial on TV since he retired. Probably an easy paycheck, and if it sustains his lovable eccentricity, I'm all for it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12am Guido from Cologne:

Omar Khorshid!!!
  10:15am Cecile:

Itz, it's him! He also made Gold bond powder entertaining.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20am Itzall Ablurr:

Thanks Oscar, this will keep me from losing any "barroom bets". Who wouldn't cash those checks?!? Once at the ATL airport, he was coming down the LONG escalator (if you've been there you know, it's like the length of a football field), about 20 feet or so behind a friend of mine and her son, who is a big fan. She caught his attention, motioned for him and he STEALTHILY (in her words) crept DOWN the escalator, snuck up behind the boy and of course, tapped him on the shoulder and said something like "excuse me, do you have the correct time?" HE FREAKED. They all laughed their asses off and once again, he proved how awesome he is and how EASY it is to make someone's day just by doing a small, kind thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am The Oscar:

@Itzall That's awesome. When he was a Celtic a few years ago he basically became a local character around Boston. I remember at one point he was doing some sort of "living statue" routine in the Pit in Harvard Square. Dude just seems to be a sincerely lovable human.
  10:25am Brendan:

Shaq don't fake the funk on a nasty dunk
Avatar 10:33am Chris from DC:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37am Passaic River Blues:

Appreciate all the Shaq love here! He was a genuinely competent MC and his work with Keith Murray and Fu-Schnicks was enjoyable. Shaq is also a part investor in the only movie theater in Newark, CityPlex 12 on Springfield Avenue. It’s an awesome joint. The AV system is called ShaqDX and each movie opens with a pre-recorded video of Shaq sitting on a stool admonishing the audience to be quiet. “Your mama raised you better than that!” He’s also got a small stake in a building going up on the site of the old Science High School. And he'll still shout out "GEORGIA KING VILLAGE!" at his appearances.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39am Itzall Ablurr:

Avatar 10:44am slugluv1313:

omg French version of "Sonic Reducer"? Happy Bastille Day! :)
loving all the Shaq stories -- yes he does seem to be a truly lovable guy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44am drr:

Plus those raps Shaq did about Kobe...
Avatar 10:46am Chris from DC:

Yeah! Probably going to catch Ian's solo thing tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48am Ken From Hyde Park:

Can someone ask Shaq to come to WFMU for a live show / interview? I'm not on the tweeter.
  10:56am Cecile:

Avatar 10:57am Chris from DC:

Roky's turning 70 tomorrow I believe.
Avatar 11:10am Claw!:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12am annie:

listening from another tab and heard this; i told myself, dead prez.... and yep..... do you know if they ever released the "lights out" video ever?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am Passaic River Blues:

In observance of the holiday, I broke out my ancient, stained Dead Prez t-shirt for the 4th of July. M1 and Stikman would not have been impressed.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am listener Rey:

you dont often hear this extended version. Marty dont take no shorts!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32am The Oscar:

BOBBY CONN! Speaking of "extended versions"...
Avatar 11:33am PKNY:

Props to Bobby for going the extra mile and nicking the Nillson album cover as well.
Avatar 11:33am CeeDubbles:

That's it, I'm dead, killed by Marty via James Brown.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35am The Oscar:

I'm always somewhat surprised that BC isn't more famous than he is, but then I remember that his most accessible single is MASSIVELY un-radio-friendly.
  11:35am Laurie:

Killing it today dude.
Avatar 11:37am PKNY:

If only the complete take of JB's "Escapism" existed on wax, 19 minutes long on the CD. Listen to James babble barely coherently over the groove is one of my favorite things ever.
Avatar 11:39am Henry:

best show on FMU
  11:40am Cecile:

Greg, there is an invisible silent C in front of all FMU commenters. All are welcome in the C section.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am steve:

Marty i love your 90s/00s selections - never hear this stuff anywhere else these day!
