Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm Michael 98145:

we're all genetically programmed to fail at the end. what gives us
strength is how we live until then.

"Feu" rhymes with "boo[k]" or "too[k]".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Lewis:

who comes in at 6 now that Clay has the morning gig?
Avatar 3:46pm βrian:

@6:00 www.wfmu.org...
Avatar 3:47pm βrian:

So was there a formal announcement about the morning show? I'll miss hearing Clay.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm fred:

@βrian: In France at least, "Feu" doesn't rhyme with that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm Lewis:

Thanks Brian - a bit lazy up hear in the midwestern heat and humid... (rumor has it the isthmus is under much the same conditions).

I think the Clay news came out a couple of weeks ago - I heard him talking about on the Dusty show a while back...
Avatar 3:52pm βrian:

Blame my phonetics teacher whose last name is Neu — I kid you not.

La Petite Paire des Peuples does have track names here:

nolagosmusique.bandcamp.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43pm fred:

La petite paire des peuples is Thomas (who runs the No Lagos label) and Jérome (aka Blenno Die Wurstbrucke). The name is a pun on "le petit père des peuples" which was a nickname for Stalin in France. The historical name translates to "little father of the people", with the pun switching paire (pair) for père (father)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm Fabio:

@Mary: Thanks!!
  4:45pm Mark Williams:

nice work, fred.
  4:53pm Brian in New Orleans:

..checking in....sorry I'm late..
Avatar 4:55pm Fredericks:

Sounded like SAM took over Fabio's show for a minute. Then Fabio got back a hold of the reins.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...oh - SAM wouldn't have a chance...
Avatar 4:57pm Fredericks:

Didn't last very long, Rev.

"Between 1949 and 1958, Henry worked at the Club d'Essai studio at RTF, which had been founded by Pierre Schaeffer in 1943."

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm BronwynB:

hello fabio and everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm northguineahills:

There was even an article out years ago where David X Cohen admitted that was the sound they were going for when they made Futurama.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 5:20pm JtotheK:

hi bronwyn!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm BronwynB:

  5:33pm nic:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avant-Garde Electronique...but really captures the ear & the interest...'catchy' almost - but want another word...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm Michael 98145:

engaging
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Good compositions, w/ both intrigue & humor - exotic but illustrative...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm northguineahills:

I once attempted a realization of "Variations pour une Porte et un Soupir" sampling the very creaky front gate of my apartment. Neighbors thought I was nuts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...an audio Miro, almost...
Avatar 5:42pm steve:

anyone know of any good books on music concrete and the like?
Avatar 🎸 5:43pm TDK60:

An audio Miro, hmmm...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm fred:

@RevRab: There's plenty more where that came from: the man's health had been poor for a while, but he was still putting out new music at least as recently as late last year. Over 6 decades of music to go through
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Incredible. I presume his influence was deep & wide.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm Michael 98145:

oh, now, this
Avatar 5:54pm Fredericks:

Steve, I learned a great deal from this book: Plunderphonics, 'pataphysics & Pop Mechanics: An Introduction to Musique Actuelle

Andrew Jones

Focuses on John Oswald as I recall, but has a pretty in depth history of Musique Concrete. Only book I've read on the topic, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm common:

That was great
Avatar 5:56pm steve:

wow nice, thanks Fredericks
  5:58pm nic:

thanks great !!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm fred:

@RevRab: I think he was a huge influence for Matmos. That "Symphonie pour un homme seul" was from 1950, that's amazing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm Michael 98145:

thank you again, Fabio
  5:59pm Minty:

Cool!
Avatar 🎸 5:59pm Bas NL:

Thanks Fabio!
