Emily! :(
  7:05pm Listener Robert:

Re your theme music, there's a passage that all the lyrics listings give as, approximately, "I wanna dance [inhale], I wanna dance [inhale]," etc. To me it sounds like, "I want a big hug, I want a big hug...," which makes me go, "Awwww, so sweet." Anyone else hear "big hug" instead of "dance" followed by a gasping inhalation?
Avatar 7:05pm dale:

get out to sussex county if you want to see gorgeous rural farms and state parks and such.
  7:07pm Marc15:

Where is Jimmy Hoffa's body buried, speaking about the Teamsters
  7:08pm james f:

now thats a tease, ladies!!
  7:09pm Emily:

Guys I'm SORRY--I didn't know, okay?!
I'm a NEW New Jerseyian...
Avatar 7:09pm kimzilla:

@Marc, YES! I was trying to explain about unions to Emily, The Teamsters were the toughest!
  7:09pm Emily:

I'm converted, though! It's my home state away from home state <3
  7:10pm Listener Robert:

I'm a new New Jerseyan too, living in Sussex Co., flanked by dairy farms & across the road from Gardens of the World, but you needn't go this far in NJ for gorgeous parks -- and I'm not even counting the LITERALLY GORGE-ous one (Paterson Falls) they visited last week. Pyramid Mtn. Park has great hiking & vistas, and it's just outside Parsippany. For that matter, Eagle Rock is great if for no other reason than its view of the NY skyline.
Avatar 7:10pm kimzilla:

@Listener Robert, I don't hear that, but that's adorable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10pm melinda:

@dale Sussex county is really nice, and my primary experience of New Jersey. Used to visit friends there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12pm melinda:

I call them peh KAHNs. Granny was right.
  7:12pm Emily:

Melinda: she'd be so happy to hear that.
Avatar 7:13pm kimzilla:

@Listener Robert, I go hiking at Eagle Rock all the time with my pups!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm Michael 98145:

Guess I'm just a spud boy
Looking for that real tomato
  7:14pm Emily:

@Michael aren't we all...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm Michael 98145:

[ we caught a possum in a live trap once. by mistake. the possum was not pleased. ]
Avatar 7:14pm dale:

melinda, the sussex county airport diner is great - cheap eggs benedict and when done you can go outside and watch people parachute down to the earth.
Avatar 7:14pm Jeff:

Berkshire black pigs are also an intrinsically delicious breed.
  7:15pm Hypertoast:

No one around me understands my potato
Avatar 7:15pm kimzilla:

@Jeff, we made homemade bacon in my friends smoker, it was incredible.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm melinda:

That must be why humans are sometimes called Long Pig.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm Michael 98145:

  7:16pm Danne D:

Dave Hill has a baboon heart
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm melinda:

I like hearing Kim and Emily on their road trip.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm Greg from ZONE 5:

I know the waitress was Marisa Tomeiā€¦
  7:16pm Emily:

@Michael: I would imagine not. Possums can be awfully nasty.
  7:16pm james f:

Uncommon Heart!

Avatar 7:17pm kimzilla:

@Danne D He would!
  7:17pm Emily:

I love Marissa Tomei! I need to see that movie. All I know is it has a monkey heart and Marissa Tomei.
  7:17pm Marc15:

The name of that Christian Slater movie is Untamed Heart
Avatar 7:17pm Jeff:

Berkshire port seems to have especially scrumptious fat.

Oh, here: a list of tasty breeds:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17pm Michael 98145:

what Emily said
Avatar 7:18pm dale:

go north to the back dirt region of orange county and talk to the migrant workers who tend the onion fields. a real slice of life there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm melinda:

I remember Baboon Heart. I mean Untamed Heart.
  7:18pm james f:

and emily, its nick cage, not willem defoe in Wild at Heart
  7:18pm james f:

damn, you're right Marc. i was so close
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm melinda:

Willem Dafoe did appear in Wild at Heart, and was creepy.
  7:18pm Emily:

James, I think they're BOTH in it, no?
Avatar 7:18pm cosmic matrix:

totally into this programme
  7:19pm Emily:

Thanks Cosmic Matrix!!
Avatar 7:20pm kimzilla:

@Jeff, They tasted so flavorful. It was surprisingly affordable to split a pig, I don't know why more people don't do it. Maybe freezer space...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm Greg from ZONE 5:

In Real Life: "A front porch for your face"
Avatar 7:21pm kimzilla:

I loved that line too!
Avatar 7:21pm cosmic matrix:

no, thank EWE! baa-a-ahhh!!
  7:21pm Emily:

Ahahaha...Greg, that can be our new show slogan! I love it!
  7:21pm Emily:

Farm puns!
Avatar 7:22pm kimzilla:

I am infatuated by donkeys, they seem so sweet, and their voice is similar to mine.
  7:23pm james:

damn, 0-2. goin back to my falafel now
Avatar 7:23pm cosmic matrix:

yup, donkeys are magical. wise eyes too.
  7:24pm Emily:

Aww, James! Don't go!
Avatar 7:24pm kimzilla:

@James, mmm falafel....
Avatar 7:25pm kimzilla:

Speaking of Willem Defoe, he narrated the most AMAZING doc about donkeys called "Do Donkey's Act" It was really terrific.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25pm melinda:

I would split a pig if I had an extra freezer.
Avatar 7:25pm cosmic matrix:

i had a samosa from a farmers' market today and i'm pretty sure the dipping sauce was creamy italian dressing. speaking of falafel.
  7:26pm Emily:

@cosmic oh dear...
Avatar 7:27pm cosmic matrix:

Avatar 7:28pm cosmic matrix:

i love hearing the ol' jersey accent! wow
  7:28pm Emily:

Haha a samosa can cover all manner of sins?
Avatar 7:28pm kimzilla:

@cosmic matrix, we'll see... there is still time for things to go wrong.
  7:29pm Emily:

I know! The accents out there are so interesting!
Avatar 7:29pm cosmic matrix:

stomach of steel. blllaarrggghhhh
Avatar 7:30pm cosmic matrix:

tractor trailer!!
  7:30pm Listener Robert:

Daddy gave Mother a stuffed donkey, J.A. Elmer (J.A. for Jackass) when he was courting her. He kept Elmer away from us kids until we were grown enough not to play with it as our own, i.e. roughly. Then I gave Elmer back to Daddy after Mother died and he'd remarried. His new wife tried machine washing Elmer; no good! But I think there's some symbolism there.
  7:34pm Danne D:

Hilly Kristal - founder of CBGB's was from Hightstown
Avatar 7:35pm kimzilla:

I mean, his poo bag falls off and then he tapes it up and goes back to work. That is farm living.
  7:36pm Emily:

@Robert: huh! What symbolism! Poor Elmer...
Avatar 7:37pm kimzilla:

The fact that he thinks that the poisons he handled only impacted him for 2 days and its not connected to his cancer is quite the denial, huh?
  7:38pm Listener Robert:

No, actually the odds are it wasn't connected to his cancer.
Avatar 7:40pm kimzilla:

@Listener Robert, I can't imagine handing pesticides and carcinogens without gloves or a mask for 30 years doesn't have a impact.
Avatar 7:45pm cosmic matrix:

oohhhh this show is exciting!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Our farm had some hay and alfalfa. As a kid, it was the funnest thing ever to bounce around in the stack frame while Dad & Grandpa dumped hay into it. Later, he bought a Hesston thingy to pull behind the tractor. Eventually, I was old enough to operate it. It would pop out stacks that looked like big bread loaves.
Avatar 7:46pm kimzilla:

Note the Subaru premonition people.
  7:46pm Emily:

There's some foreshadowing there...
Avatar 7:47pm kimzilla:

@ Ken, that sounds like so much fun!
  7:47pm Emily:

@Ken: that's just what they looked like!
I used to ride on my grandfather's tractor with him :)
Avatar 7:48pm kimzilla:

It wasn't the flail, it was a random telephone pole. The only thing in the field.
  7:49pm james f:

watch out!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm Ken From Hyde Park:

If these guys need someone to drive a combine, I'd be highly interested. On weekends, anyway.
Avatar 7:53pm cosmic matrix:

  7:55pm Danne D:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hmm, is it a requirement to hold a combine license in New Jersey?
Avatar 7:55pm cosmic matrix:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm melinda:

Cool! I'd like to go to the Mermaid Parade someday.
  7:55pm Danne D:

  7:55pm Tommy Jack Haynes:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56pm melinda:

I didn't know Chris T was the emcee. Also cool.
Avatar 7:56pm cosmic matrix:

  7:57pm Tommy Jack Haynes:

Chris T has been involved with the Mermaid parade for many years
  7:57pm james f:

Avatar 7:57pm cosmic matrix:
