Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Passaic River Blues:

"Meat Sweats"...20 stars and counting!
Avatar 12:36pm Cecile:

It's so great.
Avatar 12:36pm Cheyenne:

Mark Castle's bandcamp page says: "As a seasoned musician and an alarmingly obscure viral presence, Mark will continue to entertain the masses with his style, wit and terrifying eyes."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm chad from oregon:

Meat Sweats was the summer sensation of last summer - and it's going to take over this summer as well! You can't stop the meat sweats!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm chad from oregon:

WHY would you even want to stop it??
Avatar 12:38pm Cecile:

It works on so many levels.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm chad from oregon:

The Meat Sweats run deep!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Good afternoon, comment clan. At some point, there can be a marathon premium of All-Star tracks, those with the most clicky-stars.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Liz Berg:

I don't have a summer jam for 2017 yet, so we'll extend the reign of "Meat Sweats" for a bit. Is that cheating? Oh well! Muah ha ha...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm Ike:

@Cecile@12:07, AGREED!
Avatar 12:45pm Cecile:

I do like Luke Millions and Sam Sparro's Back to the Rhythm. Great yacht-rock retro house. It's no Meat Sweats, but what is?
Avatar 12:46pm Cecile:

Ike, work your magical Ike powers and get some stars for us!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm Ike:

Wait, I have magical powers?!? Nobody told me until now! Do all Ikes have magic powers?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm chad from oregon:

If ever a song required an 18 minute remix, Meat Sweats might be the one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I wonder how many people went out and made fake Friendship Society memberships this morning just to run up the clicky count.
Avatar 12:50pm Cecile:

You. And maybe Eisenhower.
Avatar 12:54pm cobradan:

Making Burritos whilst having Robot Dance Parties in the kitchen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Ike:

@KFHP, although I desperately want "Meat Sweats" and/or "Mr. Giant Man" to beat Don Felder, I pledge not to go to such abhorrent lengths.

Also, I'm too lazy to do that.
  12:56pm Mark R:

Jean-Jacques Perrey was out of his freakin' mind, wasn't he (all due respect, R.I.P.)?
Avatar 12:56pm Mister Dobalina:

I like how Liz always finds some time to sneak in some Latin music in the show.
  12:59pm Mark R:

She's not too sneaky about it--it's pretty in your face!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Passaic River Blues:

Last November, Irwin had Gotye on his show talking about Perrey and the ondioline: wfmu.org...
Avatar 1:03pm Cecile:

Roberto Clemente was killed on his way to give aid to the survivors of that earthquake.
  1:05pm Bobby:

My Summer Jam several years running is Viholliseni Maalla by The Brian Jonestown Massacre, track two from the Aufheben record.
  1:05pm Mark R:

Oh, it's GONNA get weird. It hasn't actually gotten weird yet. Got it.
Avatar 1:06pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

subterranean fog acid. yay.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Matt F:

Hey Liz- What was the bed music just now (right after Jean-Jacques Perry)? It's familiar but I can't place it and it's making me agitated!
  1:08pm melinda:

Hi Liz and people
  1:10pm MayorFrank:

Hello? Male? Purple RIn? I'm jamming along with pink o turned out a pink. \
  1:11pm Mark R:

Passaic, I remember the timing was eerie, because he had Gotye scheduled and there was also a local performance of Jean-Jacques Perrey's music planned, and he died the week it was supposed to happen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Liz Berg:

Bed music was Sun Ra and the Blues Project's "The Penguin Chase" from their uncredited Batman 7".
  1:11pm justin from work:

thank you for the jean jacques perrey ondioline track, i loved it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm Michael 98145:

Avatar 1:13pm Cheyenne:

A bunch of this C_C guy's songs make weird emoticon faces. Into it. Also there's a mini-doc about him on the FMA homepage right now: freemusicarchive.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Ken From Hyde Park:

"The Penguin Chase" sits there with a pitiful two clicky stars. www.wfmu.org... Needs some love.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm Passaic River Blues:

@Mark R: that's right! Irwin killed the guy right off. He also killed Mose Allison, Greg Lake, and a few others.
Avatar 1:20pm βrian:

Music to strut by.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm Michael 98145:

another fresh FMA set
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm Matt F:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Ike:

Does that goddamn piece of crap Mr. Softee jingle that dominates NYC (or s. Bklyn, anyway) have a name? I hate it! I'll use my magical powers to turn their speakers and tires into fish-butt-flavored gelato and melt their faces off of their faces! This jingle is SO much better. Some ice cream trucks in Newark have updated to this one, too.
Avatar 2:06pm Mayor Frank:

  2:08pm melinda:

I prefer this jingle to the usual ones, which are The Entertainer and Turkey in the Straw around here.
Avatar 2:10pm Mayor Frank:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm Polyus:

Whereabouts in the midwest, Liz?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm Liz Berg:

Heading to Indiana and Chicago. Wedding. Lemme know if you've got tips!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm paul b:

Mayuko over on the Drummer Stream themed an entire show a few weeks ago around the supposed mafia-esque ice cream truck wars taking place in NYC : Mr Softee v. Master Softee (an excuse to play a bunch of songs about ice-cream). The very next week though I heard a truck here in Maryland playing the theme from the Godfather...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Ike:

@Melinda, I'd almost kill to get either of those instead of the maddening, insanity-causing Mr. Softee jingle GRRRRRRRRR
  2:15pm melinda:

I like Chicago.
  2:18pm melinda:

I haven't visited in years but the Hideout is an interesting nightclub that also hosts non-nightclub type events too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Polyus:

I don't live in Chicago, but there is a Zdzislaw Bekinski exhibit at the Polish Museum of America happening through early September - trying to get down there for it myself. International Museum of Surgical Science is cool as well. And of course the Chicago Institute of Art, Museum of Science and Industry, Adler Planetarium, Field Museum of Natural History. Mostly I go to a lot of museums.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Polyus:

Good records stores, but you have plenty of those in the NY/NJ area as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Polyus:

Dreamland Faces! Lovely and talented folks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Liz Berg:

Thanks Melinda and Polyus! Also got a nice newspaper clipping in the mail from listener Michael about the Murakami exhibit, which I will def check out.
Avatar 2:23pm Cheyenne:

Quimby's book & zine store is a favorite of mine!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Passaic River Blues:

@Liz: my wife LOVES Chicago. She would likely recommend the Chicago River Architecture Tour, where you get in a ferry-type boat and cruise the river listening to surprisingly interesting commentary. She also has an evolving checklist of restaurants--the Chicago food scene is reportedly dope.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Liz Berg:

YES! Thank you bunches, Cheyenne and Passaic River Blues! Much appreciated!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm adrian in mpls:

And I haven't seen/heard it before - but there is a Harry Bertoia sound sculpture downtown Chicago as well - close to Millennium Park and the reflective bean, which are both fun to check out. And I second the Quimby's suggestion - that place is wonderful.
  2:26pm melinda:

Yes, Quimby's is good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Ken From Hyde Park:

There's the Brookfield Zoo to look at animals. www.czs.org...
  2:31pm macro:

hey Liz I just was reminded of sycamore trees by Jimmy Scott in the old twin peaks. would be cool if you played it sometime!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm Michael 98145:

You could easily spend many days in Chicago. I second the suggestion to visit the Polish Museum of America.
Avatar 2:34pm Itzall Ablurr:

Dear Liz Berg (as opposed to "@"), speaking of Takashi Murakami, I believe he is the uncredited direct influence on the current style of "super flat" graphics so ubiquitous now that Apple has applied it to their OS. Remember when everything had to be all 3-D and drop shadowed? KILLED. Now it's got to be flat and lovely!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm Liz Berg:

Thanks for the info, Itzall Ablurr, I didn't realize Murakami was behind the "flat" style!
Avatar 2:40pm Itzall Ablurr:

He was flat before flat was cool...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm chris:

oh em eff gee... i missed a new Helado Negro.. glad i got back in time to hear that Triptedes track. what a smokin' show, Liz! thanks!
Avatar 2:49pm Cecile:

He's definitely an influence as well as the graphics for the '66 Olympics, as well as classic traffic signage and geometric corporate logos.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm Michael 98145:

everybody get flat. thanks again, DJ Liz. Have a great trip!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm blee:

flat is fabulous.
  2:56pm Joshua:

Yo Liz: Joyner/Nance track title is "Dancing With Mr. D"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm Liz Berg:

I wanna call it Dancing with Mr. T!
  2:58pm Listener142985:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Ken From Hyde Park:
