Avatar 2:41pm ironybread:

Just going to sit here in silence with the Lee Morgan song playing in my mind on endless repeat until the show starts, at which the real Lee Morgan will relieve my burden
Avatar 2:44pm ironybread:

In the meantime, currently enjoying "Sounds of an Open Office in Burbank" from the album "Just Give Up, It's Hopeless"

Old Codger is guest hosting today?
Avatar 3:03pm Cliff in Prague:

Man, those dickheads.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm chris:

go get 'em, codge... er, Irwin!

I'm in the music business to produce reissue projects that don't make their money back that no one enjoys - isn't everybody?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm rrg:

That wasn't, and didn't sound anything like, the Old Codger.
Avatar 3:05pm Irwin:

One or two were not dickheads -- they were just clueless boneheads.
Avatar 3:07pm Wild Neil:

Peace Irwin et al.
  3:07pm thekenschlampen:

sadly the old codger hasnt blessed my eardrums for nigh on a year
Avatar 3:09pm Irwin:

Can I say DICKHEAD on the chatboard?
Avatar 3:10pm βrian:

No, but you sure can WRITE it.
  3:10pm thekenschlampen:

you can only write it here
Avatar 3:10pm FCC:

Not a fucking chance.

Lyrics by Shep Gordon?
  3:16pm berbo:

"Fwd:" no longer moves me. Its got to be "Fwd: fwd: FWD: FWD" to really capture my heart.
Avatar 3:22pm βrian:

Is it a hiatus or is it an interruptus?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm Michele:

Irwin! I need that I Wanna Make a Movie track! Great show so far!
Avatar 3:23pm Irwin:

Will swap it for a t-shirt, Michie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Michele:

Avatar 3:35pm Irwin:

Folks, this is the "improved mix" of Peter's tune. He personally affirmed this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm Alison Porchnik:

I appreciate that.
Avatar 3:36pm ironybread:

Even if it's exactly the same as the old mix, it's better, because he's added...nothing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Alison Porchnik:

Sorry but this song does nothing for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm thatpatsmith:

aww, memories of the glory days of inappropriate music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm Alison Porchnik:

Well, that's not true actually. There's something about it that makes me vaguely angry at him.

Oh Laetitia, she's sooooo talented! And her voice is pure heaven.

Was it Magellan who first circumcised the globe? I forget.
Avatar 3:51pm Itzall Ablurr:

Marty Stuart has bucked every dumbheaded "music biz" trend in Nashville and redefines what it means to be a "country" artist. How'd he do it?!?
Avatar 3:52pm Hoboken Jack:

Cannot find any Grudzien obits on the mighty web. There's a J. Peter Grudzien who passed in 2015, but he wasn't the outsider music type.
Avatar 3:53pm FCC:

marty's a great guitarist, a good singer and a decent human being. sometimes that's enough.
Avatar 3:54pm t_J:

when Irwin excused himself from the JM contest made life pretty easy on Clay - except for the chicken wake up part
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Mick:

@Itzall - I finally caught Marty at Bowery Ballroom a while back. Shockingly good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm dgg:

damn, times have changed since you'd sing about Bridgeport. at least when I was there
  3:58pm thea:

ahhhh that's codger- esque
  3:58pm Spaceman One:

My favorite song about Brideport!
  3:59pm Sam:

Bridgeport will gentrify at some point. It wasn't long ago if you sang an ode to Hoboken or Jersey City people will think you're nuts, but now, you'd be on point.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm dgg:

When I was a kid upstate everybody busted on Brooklyn. But none of those people could possibly afford to live there now.
Avatar 4:01pm βrian:

Ok, Joe. Lay those lists on us.
Avatar 4:01pm Itzall Ablurr:

Hi Mick, I've seen him live once and would go again without hesitation. Kenny Vaughn (Fabulous Superlatives' guitarist) plays on the new Pretenders LP and it is mighty fine, in my humble opinion. Of course Chrissie Hynde could record herself reading the phone book and I'd buy it.
Avatar 4:03pm βrian:

Will I be an adult when I finally own pajamas?
Avatar 4:03pm Wild Neil:

I remember Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 1994 and people were just starting to complain about lofts renting for more than $600 dollars a month. Heh! NOW look at it! Its like Greenwich village in the 70's vs the 90's....
  4:04pm Spaceman One:

Bridgeport's property taxes are extreme, with a mill rate of 54.37.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm rrg:

Hey, where'd that picture come from?

From out of nowhere, that's where.
  4:06pm Laura L:

How, Chief Conjoined Mountain-Coyote Head!
Avatar 4:07pm Irwin:

I call that painting "Indianterrier." Found it at the JC Sal Army about an hour before the show. Price was $3.99, marked down to two bucks (special today!, but all I had was a five, which I gladly extended with "keep the change." Gonna hang this gorgeous acrylic somewhere here in the WFMU spirit lodge.
Avatar 4:08pm Irwin:

Thanks to Laura L for the quick Photoshop crop and alignment.
  4:09pm Laura L:

You're welcome--ah, it's a terrier--I should have known with those electric green eyes, of COURSE it's a terrier.
Avatar 4:12pm Irwin:

The Squawhunka tribe were known for bonding with terriers. Look it up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm Ken From Hyde Park:

If Joe Frank is looking for inspiration for more narratives, he could get in touch with Sarah from KC, the young lady from Dave Hill's show.
Avatar 4:27pm Itzall Ablurr:

The painting is worth every bit of $5- good call.
  4:27pm Sam:

Yay, Gstaad!
Avatar 4:28pm βrian:

Is this the episode where they all come down with rat lungworm infections?
  4:31pm Courtney of Morris:

Such a good episode today.
  4:35pm Sam:

I like all the references to nudity and making love. This guy's got his priorities straight, and he knows what's important.
  4:40pm JakeGould:

Joe Frank = Happy Fella!
  4:53pm Marc15:

This guy does not know how to take a hint
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm chris:

Kornfield is such a nice character in these episodes. Thanks, Joe! Thanks, Irwin for airing these.
  5:03pm berbo:

I'm pretty sure I remember the bit about "songs no one writes".

"Grandma looks horrible" could really be a hit.
  5:05pm Listener Robert:

I bet the last time this Joe Frank episode aired, I also commented that C&W music is full of the themes he says songs don't get around about. Maybe he'd say that's why C&W isn't so popular.
  5:09pm Listener Robert:

I just noticed how Indianterrier's left tassel is also the terrier's right front paw. Awwww.

Let's see if we can squeeze them into Rushmore!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm rrg:

I can no longer see the Indianterrier in my browser window. Just an Indianterrier-sized blank space. This is not fair at all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm Michael 98145:

weren't we warned enough about those human-animal hybrids ??
  5:14pm Listener Robert:

Wild Neil, last year I was priced out of the goddamn Bronx! So here I am in southern Sussex Co., NJ, where at least WMFU comes in well, sometimes even in stereo.

Which reminds me: Unless she was pulling my leg, I'm afraid Bronwyn C. misunderstood me yesterday, & went to tell Field Marshal Ken about the sporadic E skip as a "problem with the Mt. Hope NY station", when in reality it's a natural phenomenon.

Have I gotten enough milage out of the 3 comments I'm allowed on a show?
Avatar 5:16pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Great tune this YLT.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Passaic River Blues:

Is this whole post-Joe Frank set in response to the issues raised in "Endings"? It's working!
  5:18pm ray z:

just a quick gentle suggestion... do you think you could just edit the ads out of the rest of the tom wilson shows? i kinda have a desire not to ever have to hear that damn cowsills ad ever again. thanks in advance.

Do not edit out the ads. Don't listen to that man.
Avatar 5:21pm Irwin:

We're going to have a remix contest with the MF ads. I'm compiling all for download. Next week we start.

Avatar 5:33pm ironybread:

Loves me the Bad Plus. Their cover of "Heart of Glass" is lunatic.
  5:33pm Laura L:

When the Ondioline (did I sp. that right?) Orchestra played last year, J-J P's daughter was in attendance; she sweetly said that just like J-J P, Wally is an angel. Aw.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm rrg:

Of course you spelled it right, LL.

Spelt it right, too!
Avatar 5:35pm Irwin:

TBP's drummer Dave King is a monster.
  5:35pm Laura L:

Thank you, rrg! And Hello!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm Guido from Cologne:

Monster track!
Avatar 5:39pm ironybread:

On the other hand that particular Bad Plus song did reek a little of "This song is so hard that only WE know where the 1 is, so if you're tapping your foot, you're doing it wrong"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm Michael 98145:

Always great jazz around here.

( i 'm considering acquiring the Dave Liebman / Joe Lovano CD of Coltrane musics )
Avatar 5:40pm Fredericks:

When I saw The Bad Plus Dave King played with Walkie-Talkies to do an Aphex Twin cover.
