is all new reggae music this lame? Jeff, sorry to be critical but what about the classic artists and songs? All I ever hear are bad covers of 70s and 80s songs with a reggae feel. aren't there any GOOD new reggae artists around? Please educate us, this is the schoolroom right? Where are the legends of reggae? For real I hate 90% of this new music.

please educate us. 90% of this new reggae is the equivalent of soft rock.

Dekker? Tosh? Marley? Perry?

Hey Anon - Drunken Creep here - While it's tough to top the classic reggae of the 70s, remember music strikes us in different ways at different times. While I can completely see myself agreeing with your comment, I was introduced to the show in many early mornings driving trucks around NY NJ. And let me tell you, starting up the truck on a subzero morning, sometimes sticking a hair dryer in the diesel tank to thaw the biodiesel, then this music came... It fxxkxn kicked ass!!! There's a Saturday morning show on WKCR called footsteps of reggae music, it's very similar although I prefer RSH. While I don't make any excuse like "You have to be in the right place when you hear it", I will say that those mornings made me love this new reggae, and today while I have the morning off, I am happy to hear it now in my free time. Just another perspective. Again, the classics are classic for a reason, no question there.

I just haven't heard one new song in years here that I like. it's all crap. isn't there anyone making good new reggae? the lyrics, the melodies, most of us really bad or stolen from bad pop music. I just don't get it...and yes I'm high.

I hear new music in other genres that I love from first listen. New reggae? it's just bad.

I hear you on the soft rock comparison, but respectfully disagree, I love this stuff. Also worth mentioning I work with a lot of guys with Caribbean backgrounds, and they all love this music and know all the words. And I don't think those guys would like a lot of other new music. So some of it just has to do with what feels familiar. Anyhow, enjoy the rest of your sunday!

New hip hop and rap is good, not all classic hh/rap fans agree but it's good and has merit. the bulk of this stuff is just bad.
  Sun. 6/11/17 11:48am anon:

can't we have both? isn't this the schoolroom? educate.
