Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm -Ken:

Hey Everybody! Wanna know a secret? Fabio's theme song, "Mr Giant Man," by James Last, is THE MOST FAVORITED song on WFMU, Period. But now other DJs like Matt Warwick want to knock this classic off its pedestal. You must prevent this. If you have not already favorited :Mr Giant Man," DO IT NOW! Just click the star next to "Voodoo Party" over there to the left. Dont let James Last become a second class German novelty act.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm annie:

done and done!
  4:02pm Mike tp:

I love these theme song choices. Ray Franks theme rings. bell. Von track is going to good places.

The Buchla! I haven't even thought about those for years...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm steve:

new Buchlas are as confounding and intimidating as the old ones, and REALLY expensive: buchla.com...

The Thursday Night Package will be missed but I welcome Micah.
Avatar 4:25pm PKNY:

Though there is an hour break in between, Music of Mind Control and Sinner's Crossroads is a pretty good package, I must say.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Great show - talk about obscure & fascinating genres...thing is, it makes me feel a sucker to enjoy Mind Control music - esp. @ a sleepy hour...then again, FMU itself being a Cult...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm Ike:

LSD cults?!?!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm steve:

those new Buchlas are kind of a joke lately, even though they still sound unique. there's not much justification for the price besides the legend people associate with them. there was a great full length synthesizer doc recently and probably the best quote in it was the guy who said that Buchla could shit in a bag and sell that for hundreds of dollars.
Avatar 4:37pm Chris from DC:

$5000 does seem like a lot for an easel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm Stanley:

Hi Guys. Is Micah back on the schedules? I checked but couldn't find him

Avatar 5:00pm V Priceless:

yeah, new TP off the charts fun

cheers for the Hammill greatness
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Van der Graaf is the Pretty Things to King Crimson's Stones.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03pm ⓘⓚⓔ:

I love it but it's so glacial. The original was a fascinating melding of Lynch with fun mainstream soap, and this is just pure Lynchland, all of his obsessions and movies in a melting pot. Both versions are great but this takes some getting used to. (***vague spoilers***) Is you-know-who's storyline an everyday horror story about getting senile and aphasic while nobody around you notices and you just get pushed around from one thing to the next? Horrifying! Will our hero ever recover from the other place?
Avatar 5:05pm TDK60:

Don't watch TV but I do like this here radio program.
Avatar 5:07pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

H to He... is an infinite classic (RE: van der graaf generator). Also, agreed on Mulholland Dr... And this set so far is epic gold happy-pills.
  5:11pm Tee Ess:

Is this Catherine Ribeiro?
  5:12pm mr answer:

Avatar 5:13pm chocolate monk:

no playlist update... do you think Fabio is away for a jazz cigarette?
  5:13pm nic:

this is funny_but i can't speak italian so i have no idea what it's about
Avatar 5:14pm rascal yammers:

I'm trying to keep up... so hard for me to do. Thankfully there is the archive pop up player for those sleepless nights;)
  5:14pm Tee Ess:

Avatar 5:16pm Fredericks:

This Valerio Cosi song kinda bugs me unless the guy is singing so convincingly. Then I love it.
Avatar 5:17pm Fredericks:

I am not giving it a star. The organ player bugs me!
Avatar 5:17pm Fredericks:

Is it Keith Emerson?
Avatar 5:17pm Fredericks:

Or Jan Hammer?
Avatar 5:17pm TDK60:

The organ is burning up in a big Om. I love it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Mr. Giant Man harvested four more clicky-stars so far today.
Avatar 5:19pm Fredericks:

Not Jon Lord.
  5:19pm Tee Ess:

Is a jazz cigarette a euphemism for something? Asking for an enemy...
  5:19pm Dean:

Sounds like classic early '70s Italian prog.
Avatar 5:19pm Fredericks:

Dean, huh.
  5:20pm nic:

love this !!!
Avatar 5:21pm TDK60:

...unless I had the wrong tune! ha!
  5:21pm kata:

thank you :)
Avatar 5:22pm Fredericks:

Definitively less proggy unless I have the wrong tune.
Avatar 5:23pm Fredericks:

  5:23pm Dean:

Same here. Maybe we're talking about two different tracks. Pretty sure I meant the Nicolai.
Avatar 5:25pm rascal yammers:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm common:

Yo, Fabio and all. Happy Thursday!
Avatar 5:27pm TDK60:

Happy Thoisdee to you too Common.
Avatar 5:28pm Fredericks:

The Cosi organ was just too much for me. Om or no Om.
Avatar 5:30pm Fredericks:

Is there a speedy acoustic guitar playing quietly underneath this piece or do I need a shower?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Sounded to me like a leetle sample of Syd gittar from 'Interstellar Overdrive' @ the end.
  5:37pm nic:

loved the last one 2
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...or maybe I meant 'Jugband Blues'...like that...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm Uncle Michael:

I've been loving the Colin Stetson album...and it's a certified FMU hit.
Avatar 5:41pm TDK60:

Avatar 5:43pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

YAY. This Reinhart
Avatar 5:44pm dale:

hey fabio. been listening outside while pulling weeds - really zen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm Carmichael:

I love the pulsing of this ...
Avatar 5:47pm Jeff:

Have y'all heard "Sorrow" - Colin Stetson's reimagining of Gorecki's 3rd Symphony?

I totally recommend settling in to listen to it when you have time to enjoy the whole thing.

It's done in deep, dark horns with metal-style drumming underpinning a powerful swelling part. Really grabs you. Kind of makes the original orchestration feel a little lightweight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm -Ken:

Im kind of upset that Mr Giant Man has barely budged from its 82 "favorites."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm redkayak:

Good stuff here
  5:54pm Mott:

i went back and watched the last episode of the original Twin Peaks series (episode 30). and it is seamless continuity with the new series on Showtime. my kind of weird
Avatar 5:55pm dale:

no inane banter with pun-like references to laurence luckinbill at this point of the show - i'm so sad.
Avatar 5:55pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

This set is the capital city of central nervous system .
Avatar 5:55pm dale:

the TNP is forever altered.
Avatar 5:57pm dale:

fabio is a fantastic curator of aural landscape.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Watching TheMonkees as a toddler gave me a porpoise in life.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm common:

Thank you for this !
Avatar 5:57pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Great movie! Dolenz dies TWICE!
Avatar 5:57pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

[in hindsight, that seemed harsh]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

That's what it's about - how to Kill The Monkees.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm Carmichael:

This song was buried so deeply in my psyche, I could sing along but not remember who it was ...
