  11:55am grace gold way:

is that you in the wonder woman outfit?
Avatar 12:01pm C.S.:

Hallelujah. Julie's back.
  12:03pm grace gold way:

back in a gold crown with a red star
Avatar 12:05pm C.S.:

That picture just screams 70s...Wonder Woman...wood paneling...macrame plant hangers...captain's chair at the table...yellow checkered wall paper.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm Julie:

hey guys! Yep that's me...mom made me wonder woman in a turtleneck
  12:10pm paul:

Wonder Woman in a turtleneck. Stylish, yet practical.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm Julie:

it was very nice too bad my arms are blocking it
Avatar 12:13pm C.S.:

Ha! That's Wonder Woman's outfit for chilly autumn days. The things parents did to make sure we had a nice Halloween. Now our neighborhood doesn't even get trick or treaters anymore.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Threemoons:

Greets! LOVE the WW outfit.
Avatar 12:15pm Tidepoolbay:

Julie! Keep on keepin on!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Threemoons:

And yeah, door-to-door trick or treating pretty much died in my old childhood neighborhood after the whole "stranger/danger" thing really picked up in the late 80's...also killed Girl Scout cookie sales door to door...now of course I just get spammed by all my friends with kids when it's time to order them online...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm fred:

Julie! Welcome back
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm dale:

ooh, special sunday treat!i like the painted on stars on your costume. DANIELLE DAX!! this sounds different from the version on dark adapted eye - it's cleaner, i like it better
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Julie:

I was in Texas...I didn't need to be that warm, but I didn't have the equipment to hold it up yet.
Avatar 12:18pm C.S.:

@Threemoons And paper boys and girls. How did we all survive our childhood?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm dale:

lost patrol! or snow patrol. some patrol. love this one too.
  12:22pm DaveinPA:

I wonder if he does this at any of his MSG gigs... encore, maybe?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm Threemoons:

CS--yeah, seriously. I walked to and from school every day until high school, my best friend was the paperboy on the weekends (delivered by bike, ON THE STREET OH THE HORRORS) and we both did door to door stuff for Brownies/Cub Scouts respectively.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Julie:

Oh I wish!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm dale:

this is billy joel on vocals?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm Threemoons:

And yeah, home-made Halloween costumes, none of this plastic printed crap with a cheap mask stuff. And tons of candy to be sorted through. Still nobody did the whole apples thing or the popcorn balls because maniacs with razor blades doncha know.
Avatar 12:24pm C.S.:

@ Julie I think the turtle neck clearly makes you the disco 70s version and not the Axis-fighting WW II version. ;)
Avatar 12:25pm C.S.:

Supposedly the razor blades thing is just an urban myth according to Snopes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm adampsyche:

that was a good jam! beautiful set!
  12:26pm JakeGould:

Wonder Woman in a turtleneck is completely different from what’s in theaters right now… That 2017 Wonder Woman has nipples on her armor.
  12:28pm JakeGould:

All that crap is “stranger/danger” fear mongering B.S. Nobody ever got poisoned by candy from strangers.
Avatar 12:29pm C.S.:

@Threemoons We went to as many houses as we could..even side streets we weren't familiar with because it was one of the only times we got candy. Stayed out late too. Around 9 PM. I'm only in my 40s but do I feel like an old geezer at times.
  12:29pm Dean:

Seconded, @JakeGould. Adults wanted the "holiday" for themselves, and they got it. Yeah, I'm bitter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Threemoons:

Jake and Dean--alas, it was also the era of the fake Satanic ritual abuse cults and crap like that....I feel glad that at least I got some good memories in. And some amazing costumes.
  12:33pm JakeGould:

Yeah, as someone pointed out to me recently that whole satanist scare crap in the 1980s coincided with women’s rights getting stronger! GOTTA STOP THEM WITCHES WHO JUST WANT NICE THINGS AND TO BE TREATED NICELY!!!
Avatar 12:35pm monicamarinm:

Loving the costume Miss Julie! might be good inspiration for one of my pieces!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm fred:

Can you find a goth Sinatra cover? I don't think it exists, but that would be perfect for this fill-in. Goth bands, you have a couple of hours to make it come true
  12:35pm Dean:

Fake?! Dang, another dream quashed.

For more along these lines, read James Kincaid's Erotic Innocence. Fun, if now dated, book about the hyping of news about child molesters at day care centers, etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm Julie:

A goth version of Summer Wind would be amazing wouldn't it?
Avatar 12:38pm C.S.:

There is Strangers in the Night by the Volcanoes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm fred:

It Was a Very Good Year has potential too
  12:39pm Mark M.:

Cool Elvis cover.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Julie:

I'm sure there's a version of My way by someone not Sid Vicious
  12:40pm middlebun:

Better than Elvis.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm fred:

Ugh, that's a Claude Francois song
  12:41pm Mark M.:

You don't hear stuff like this on radio much anymore.
  12:42pm Mark M.:

Nothing better than going back to the roots of early riock.
Avatar 12:42pm listener mark:

I thought I heard the beginning of "Telephone" by Lady Gaga before. I knew something was up. Hello Julie! It won't be dark for hours yet. Starting to rain up here in Sullivan County.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Uncle Michael:

good morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Julie:

Umm...no I didn't play Lady Gaga...
Avatar 12:45pm listener mark:

No I meant the intro part then it was something else.
  12:45pm 07032 for Life:

I say we start DARK SUNDAY AFTERNOONS OF THE SOUL...now...permanently.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm fred:

Dark night of the soul, but it's noon and almost summer. Upside down bats are confused.
Doug said there a new/old show coming on the drummer stream. Is that yours?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm Julie:

No, fred, not me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm dale:

speaking of wonder woman, any lynda carter in the hopper? the kiss tribute at 2:30 on this clip is out there.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Julie:

Dale Lynda is in the next set
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm fred:

Mayuko had a great bat pic on her playlist earlier this year: blogfiles.wfmu.org...
  12:51pm Dean:

I need advice. I passed up two LPs yesterday, two bucks each: Alan Price, the '77 eponymous record, and Night Ranger, the one w/ "Sister Christian." Should I have grabbed 'em?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Wonder Woman Julie. Thanks for filling in today.
Avatar 12:53pm Tidepoolbay:

Pink Floyd! Richard Wright on vocals!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm dale:

ooh! from one of her country albums? i'm getting all kertwitterpated!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Julie:

from her first one. One of her originals.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm Julie:

ioooh I like Alan Price...pass on Night Ranger
  12:55pm Dean:

Thank you!
  12:56pm Jonesy (NOT THAT ONE):

Can't find the 70s photo ! Home page ? Love what your playing ... if it fits in could I ask for some Get down Stay down ? Thoa is wonderful is she not ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm Julie:

I don't know that song, Jonesy. and the picture is on the playlist
Avatar 1:01pm monicamarinm:

Loving your playlist today Julie, wanna be here all day, away from the news. Thanks for this piece of great Sunday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Summer and Michael:

Hi, Julie! Love that you're on!
Avatar 1:04pm Roberto:

Avatar 1:04pm TehBadDr:

Hey Julie! Nice surprise for my Sunday afternoon to find you on. Great pic BTW!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm dale:

my cat squeakers has been waking me up at 4 or 4:so every morning. i don't mind getting up early but i can never get a disco nap in..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Julie, you should apply for one of those helper monkeys to tote that laptop for you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm dale:

i hate to admit i like her stumblin' in duet with chris norman.
Avatar 1:09pm C.S.:

Regarding Wonder Woman: Always thought this was pretty funny: www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm dale:

wow. she has a karen carpenter timbre to her voice.
Avatar 1:09pm monicamarinm:

Lynda Carter! living.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm Julie:

dale that was a huge hit for her, nothing wrong with that! Hey everyone, good to see you. and thanks Monica, glad you're enjoying.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm dale:

someone should do a guilty pleasures show on fmu - stuff you hate to admit you love. a deejay was playing all 1977 songs a couple weeks back and i suggested he play 'sam' by onj but no go.
Avatar 1:17pm TehBadDr:

@C.S. while we're on Wonder Woman vids, this one has been a favorite around the skate community for years. Role model that she wears pads and lid, but also she pushes mongo!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm fred:

@dale: was that Chris M? If so, he walks to his own drummer, don't take it personally
  1:18pm Stevel:

What great sets! Enjoying the opportunity to listen live.

I have a disturbingly deep love for Jones and X-Ray, but I'm more than pleased (less disturbingly) with your fill in!
  1:18pm Marie:

Hi Julie, really enjoying the show. Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm Julie:

thanks Stevel. And I'm with you, big IBJ love right here for many, many years. Hi Marie, thank you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm Julie:

the next song might make you groan but I love it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm dale:

yeah - chrism. i wasn't insulted. he played the popu vuh/herzog soundtrack i suggested. that was huge.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm Switchblade Batman:

Ever since Guardians of the Calaxy 2, I always think of Baby Groot dancing to this song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm Julie:

Some of us are obsessive planners, so not taking a request is really nothing personal
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm Julie:

oh really! I haven't seen that
  1:24pm ?:

Wait....wait....what? What's going on here? There's a PLAYLIST! There's LISTENER COMMENTS....? I am used to enjoying some solitude here from 12-3. What are all these people doing on my blank listener comment page........? At least the show is awesome.
Avatar 1:24pm TehBadDr:

This ELO tune is vaguely Beatlesque.
Avatar 1:24pm C.S.:

@TehBadDr Ha. I had forgotten (aka blocked it out) about that. It was extreme before extreme existed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm Julie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Julie:

Tony Visconti did an interesting cover of this too
Avatar 1:25pm TehBadDr:

@? No Radio For Old Men this early aft.
Avatar 1:26pm Roberto:

Dale, I've got a couple of those squeakers as well. They do tend to get squeakier at the most inopportune times.
  1:26pm George in WO:

Flashback to your first set: I met the woman who fronted Lost Patrol in the parking lot of Morristown High School last month. She saw my WFMU bumper sticker and we chatted for a while. They were featured on the FMU Gone Wild DVD.
Avatar 1:26pm Tomophobic Tom:

John Lennon used to talk about how if the Beatles were still around they'd sound like ELO.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Switchblade Batman:

Yeah @Julie its like the opening sequence. Good to hear you, BTW.
  1:27pm Stephen Masucci:

Great show, Julie!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm dale:

eldorado is still a favorite album.
Avatar 1:27pm Roberto:

Tony Visconti was a visiting artist at my MFA program circa 1990. I remember my notes from his presentation. Simply: "Tony Visconti...is insane."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Switchblade Batman:

@Tomophobic Tom, when I first heard ELO I thought they were the Beatles
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Julie:

Thanks Stephen! George, Molly? There was one before her.
  1:28pm Dean:

Buddy of mine gave a personal tour to Visconti with his then-wife, May Pang, of Disneyland.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Julie:

Tony mixed my very first live guest. It continues to amaze me.
  1:29pm George in WO:

Julie: forget her name but she's the woman on the FMU DVD.
Great tunes BTW, Thanks!
Avatar 1:29pm Roberto:

Oops. I was thinking of Vito Acconci. Never mind!
  1:30pm Dean:

So Vito's notes were, "Tony Visconti ... is insane"?
Avatar 1:31pm Roberto:

No. That would have been funny though. It was all about Vito.
Avatar 1:31pm Roberto:

Sorry folks, me brain's even less functional than usual today.
Avatar 1:33pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Whut? There's Joolee?? Rollins archive on KCRW will have to wait...
Avatar 1:33pm Roberto:

Me lose brain? Uh oh!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm fred:

Vito's work is all about Vito, that's what isn't interesting about his work
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Julie:

Oh one of my friends hipped me to an appropriate Sinatra cover...so I'll try to squeeze that in last set
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Switchblade Batman:

is 91.1 coming in crackly for anyone?
Avatar 1:35pm TehBadDr:

And this is so Kim Beale-esque.
Avatar 1:36pm Tidepoolbay:

I'm on 90.1
Avatar 1:36pm Tidepoolbay:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm fred:

@Julie: You have to find a spot for it! IBJ, you know
Avatar 1:37pm Roberto:

I used a lot of alazarin crimson in my painting days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm Switchblade Batman:

Odd. Might be where I am then. My building is terrible for reception.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm dale:

i was gonna ask about some moody blues. didn't need to!
Avatar 1:41pm Whosondephone:

Do it! No excuses!
Avatar 1:41pm Tomophobic Tom:

OK I don't deal with change well. I can take the format change OK, but if Bill Kelly is now "handsome and dashing" this may just not any longer be my time........
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm dale:

what would follow 'your song' better than the moody's 'my song?'
Avatar 1:44pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Has some Donovan :
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm fred:

@Tomophobic Tom: Maybe he was when Julie's pic was taken. Though I don't think she's that old
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Julie:

Dale, I have moodies coming up later! Tomophonic this is only a change this week, the boys will be back!
  1:52pm Morgan:

Loving this fill-in, Julie!
Avatar 1:53pm TehBadDr:

Synth music, attack now! 8^)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm Julie:

thanks Morgan! (morgan visconti?)
Avatar 1:54pm Tomophobic Tom:

@ fred haha! But I must say I often wonder what poor Bill Kelly did to deserve so many old jokes. It's not like all the rest of us are a bunch of spring chickens either!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm fred:

Well, he often brags about how long he's been there. Also, he's a Yankees fan, which deserves some grief, especially of the unwarranted kind
Avatar 1:58pm TehBadDr:

This is very good, thanx Julie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Julie:

thanks TBD!
Avatar 2:00pm C.S.:

Wonder if Ghost Cop is an Axe Cop reference?
Avatar 2:00pm monicamarinm:

Yes!! loving it!
Avatar 2:01pm Tomophobic Tom:

@ fred - I once flew from Detroit to Montgomery Street and imagine my joy meeting the radio legend, but they my lasting disappointment when he recoiled in horror at my efforts to offer a heartfelt and somewhat alcohol fueled embrace. Some things are not meant to be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm fred:

@Tomophobic Tom: I can only wish Bill Kelly recoiled from me. I'm French, so he wouldn't get that low
Avatar 2:08pm TehBadDr:

Robyn, still trippy after all these years.
  2:09pm Alice:

Hi Julie, Enjoying the Show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm Julie:

thanks Alice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm dale:

this moody's first came out on caught live + 5. the plus five was the best part of the double lp set.
  2:11pm JakeGould:

I hear the new Wonder Woman is really good. Unlike the other D.C. universe bullshit, it’s not filled to the brim with that dark and brooding, “The world is ending and I am the only one who can save anyone!” bullshit.
  2:12pm JakeGould:

Jesus Christ do I hate all of those “Weight of the world is on my shoulders and only I can save them…” B.S.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm Uncle Michael:

The new WW was directed by a woman that grew up, just down the road in Lawrence, Kansas..
Avatar 2:13pm TehBadDr:

@Jake, that's cool. But I want to know if she still shreds! (see above)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm Uncle Michael:

Really nice to hear the Moodies get some love on FMU.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm Switchblade Batman:

Nooooooooooo! I need this!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm fred:

@Uncle Michael: Are you going to switch with Doug? If so, when?
Avatar 2:15pm Roberto:

Gotta jet. Bai Joolz!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm fred:

One of the most disturbing Twin Peaks scene
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Julie:

thanks for listening Roberto!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Uncle Michael:

fred, Doug and I will swap on or about September first for 15 or 16 weeks.
  2:17pm JakeGould:

@UncleMichael: Cool! Did everyone hear about the gay law professor who is suing Alamo Drafthouse for having women only screenings of Wonder Woman? I can’t even… Shaddup everyone. www.washingtonpost.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm dale:

years ago i was working on a bell atlantic commercial and julee cruise came in to read the voice over stuff. i was gobsmacked.
  2:18pm Dale:

It is happening again.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm fred:

@Dale: which Dale are you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Julie:

I was never a Julee fan but I heard this during a rewatch recently and it stuck in my head
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Julie:

Im not at the new show yet, I'm stuck in boringtown season 2
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm dale:

i started watching the original twin peaks on netflix and couldn't. i don't know if it was just so different for the time or the fact that the world watched as a collective and we all talked about it the next day, but i was bored to tears watching it now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm fred:

I can't see the new season, being in a benighted country
  2:22pm Joel K:

I tried a rewatch of the the original...made it to ep 3.
Avatar 2:22pm C.S.:

For a show that had tons of buzz when it first came out, it crashed and burned pretty fast.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm Julie:

I like the intrigue, but I have little patience for the quirky northern exposureness
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm fred:

@dale: there could be some truth in that: after the last episode I went banging on friend's windows. In vain, because they were doing the same. It took us a while to regroup. There was nothing like it
Avatar 2:25pm C.S.:

Was in film school at the time and that show along with Fargo were all the rage. Okie Dokie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm dale:

it's like we all had to watch moonlighting too and discuss it the next day. and max headroom.
Avatar 2:25pm TehBadDr:

I re-watched Twin peaks a year ago and loved it. I'm also the person who might have watched Eraserhead >20 times!
  2:27pm JakeGould:

Truth be told, as much as I like David Lynch, “Twin Peaks” was basically a soap opera. I can’t invest that much time into caring about things; bleagh to episodic dramas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm dale:

re wonder woman, i was thinking about cathy lee crosby being w.w. first and now i'm going down a pointless hole googling her. THANKS julie!
  2:27pm JakeGould:

“Max Headroom” was easier to swallow since it was episodic. That is what I like… Episodic TV.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Julie:

that Cathy lee costume was crazy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm Julie:

oh Max Headroom was fantastic
Avatar 2:28pm TehBadDr:

@Jake, that's why you binge it 3 -4 episodes at a time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm dale:

yeah, her outift was like a patriotic robin hood. maybe that was the goal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm fred:

I live in France, you can't imagine how mind-blowing was Twin Peaks here. There was nothing even remotely like it on TV at the time
  2:30pm Joel K:

Cruise has a cool single/EP with King Dude. Check it on bandcamp
Avatar 2:30pm listener mark:

Kate Bush! Outstanding Julie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm dale:

ooh, debra winger played diana prince's sister!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm fred:

Really great video: www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm Julie:

Kate COVER! real Kate coming up soon
Avatar 2:31pm C.S.:

As a recovering Trekkie, I note many new fans to the franchise can't stand the original series and I wonder if that has to do with shorter attention spans and not taking into account it was made in the 1960s? Sometimes shows don't age well but others are so interesting, they become time capsules. X-files holds up pretty well for the most part but the changing technology over the years is starting to date it
  2:31pm phat:

I was just enjoying the idea that Dawn French and Hugh Laurie were in the Kate Bush video for Experiment IV.
Avatar 2:31pm C.S.:

Mrs. Addams played Diana's mother.
Avatar 2:31pm TehBadDr:

Maxheadroom was good. Blipverts! They would have their place now as most millennials have the attention span of an ant.
Avatar 2:32pm monicamarinm:

Truly enjoying the show Julie, big fan here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm dale:

carolyn jones?
Avatar 2:32pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Who comes w/in leagues of bringing Surrealism to Network TV like Lynch has?
Popularity throws me off things - I'm like that...watching less & less in life & listening more & more...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm Julie:

great video!
Avatar 2:33pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Sound as Weapon is *definitely* on the table.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm dale:

max headroom could stand a reboot. and the california raisins
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Julie:

I have been corrected, the new JCM movie is How To Talk to Girls at Parties.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Uncle Michael:

Maybe we could exhume Clara Peller while we're at it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm Julie:

thank you monica! If Max comes back it has to be with Frewer. Which is not a reboot or a remake.
  2:38pm phat:

This Elton is the most Jonesey and X-Ray track you've played. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm Julie:

Uncle Michael did someone say you were moving times?
  2:39pm phat:

  2:40pm Dean:

Avatar 2:40pm TehBadDr:

Funny, I remember Frewer being cast in other roles shortly thereafter that just didn't seem to fit, but I agree
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm Julie:

fmu rulz I am old but not as old as you think considering some of the music I'm playing
  2:41pm fmu rulz:

Avatar 2:52pm northguineahills:

Wow, that Wonder Women costume is badass!
  2:52pm Listener Robert:

I liked the way you put "Rise" on at first, as a Slow 45, right?
