back in a gold crown with a red star
Avatar 12:05pm

That picture just screams 70s...Wonder Woman...wood paneling...macrame plant hangers...captain's chair at the table...yellow checkered wall paper.
Avatar 12:06pm
Julie:

hey guys! Yep that's me...mom made me wonder woman in a turtleneck
  12:10pm

Wonder Woman in a turtleneck. Stylish, yet practical.
Avatar 12:12pm
Julie:

it was very nice too bad my arms are blocking it
Avatar 12:13pm
C.S.:

Ha! That's Wonder Woman's outfit for chilly autumn days. The things parents did to make sure we had a nice Halloween. Now our neighborhood doesn't even get trick or treaters anymore.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm

Greets! LOVE the WW outfit.
Avatar 12:15pm

Julie! Keep on keepin on!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm
Threemoons:

And yeah, door-to-door trick or treating pretty much died in my old childhood neighborhood after the whole "stranger/danger" thing really picked up in the late 80's...also killed Girl Scout cookie sales door to door...now of course I just get spammed by all my friends with kids when it's time to order them online...

Julie! Welcome back

ooh, special sunday treat!i like the painted on stars on your costume. DANIELLE DAX!! this sounds different from the version on dark adapted eye - it's cleaner, i like it better

I wonder if he does this at any of his MSG gigs... encore, maybe?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm
Threemoons:

CS--yeah, seriously. I walked to and from school every day until high school, my best friend was the paperboy on the weekends (delivered by bike, ON THE STREET OH THE HORRORS) and we both did door to door stuff for Brownies/Cub Scouts respectively.

And yeah, home-made Halloween costumes, none of this plastic printed crap with a cheap mask stuff. And tons of candy to be sorted through. Still nobody did the whole apples thing or the popcorn balls because maniacs with razor blades doncha know.
Avatar 12:24pm
C.S.:

@ Julie I think the turtle neck clearly makes you the disco 70s version and not the Axis-fighting WW II version. ;)
Avatar 12:25pm

Supposedly the razor blades thing is just an urban myth according to Snopes.

Wonder Woman in a turtleneck is completely different from what’s in theaters right now… That 2017 Wonder Woman has nipples on her armor.
  12:28pm
JakeGould:

All that crap is “stranger/danger” fear mongering B.S. Nobody ever got poisoned by candy from strangers.
Avatar 12:29pm
C.S.:

@Threemoons We went to as many houses as we could..even side streets we weren't familiar with because it was one of the only times we got candy. Stayed out late too. Around 9 PM. I'm only in my 40s but do I feel like an old geezer at times.

Seconded, @JakeGould. Adults wanted the "holiday" for themselves, and they got it. Yeah, I'm bitter.

Jake and Dean--alas, it was also the era of the fake Satanic ritual abuse cults and crap like that....I feel glad that at least I got some good memories in. And some amazing costumes.
  12:33pm
JakeGould:

Yeah, as someone pointed out to me recently that whole satanist scare crap in the 1980s coincided with women’s rights getting stronger! GOTTA STOP THEM WITCHES WHO JUST WANT NICE THINGS AND TO BE TREATED NICELY!!!

Can you find a goth Sinatra cover? I don't think it exists, but that would be perfect for this fill-in. Goth bands, you have a couple of hours to make it come true

Fake?! Dang, another dream quashed.

For more along these lines, read James Kincaid's Erotic Innocence. Fun, if now dated, book about the hyping of news about child molesters at day care centers, etc.

For a show that had tons of buzz when it first came out, it crashed and burned pretty fast.

I like the intrigue, but I have little patience for the quirky northern exposureness

@dale: there could be some truth in that: after the last episode I went banging on friend's windows. In vain, because they were doing the same. It took us a while to regroup. There was nothing like it

Was in film school at the time and that show along with Fargo were all the rage. Okie Dokie.

I re-watched Twin peaks a year ago and loved it. I'm also the person who might have watched Eraserhead >20 times!

Truth be told, as much as I like David Lynch, “Twin Peaks” was basically a soap opera. I can’t invest that much time into caring about things; bleagh to episodic dramas.

re wonder woman, i was thinking about cathy lee crosby being w.w. first and now i'm going down a pointless hole googling her. THANKS julie!

“Max Headroom” was easier to swallow since it was episodic. That is what I like… Episodic TV.

that Cathy lee costume was crazy

As a recovering Trekkie, I note many new fans to the franchise can't stand the original series and I wonder if that has to do with shorter attention spans and not taking into account it was made in the 1960s? Sometimes shows don't age well but others are so interesting, they become time capsules. X-files holds up pretty well for the most part but the changing technology over the years is starting to date it
