Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm Alison Porchnik:

How are you going to eat lunch now, Irwin?
Avatar 3:20pm Irwin:

You should be asking that question of the Old Codger.
  3:21pm Dean:

Oh, look! It's a mise en abyme!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Alison Porchnik:

Well whose teeth are those, then?
Avatar 3:28pm Irwin:

What I said.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Ken From Hyde Park:

  3:38pm zopa:

Irwin, is Dualplover still in business?
Avatar 3:39pm Irwin:

Dunno. Recent record fair score.
Avatar 3:40pm Irwin:

You can always recognize the grunts of Erroll Garner.
  3:42pm MONEYBAG$:

the other day I was actually trying to remember who it was who grunts during jazz tunes, thank you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm The Oscar:

I remember hearing that on my dad's jazz albums as a kid, and I thought it was the weirdest thing I'd ever heard.
  3:43pm Dean:

Make a nice theme for a compilation of pianists who tickle the ivories, grunting. There's a bunch of 'em.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Michael 98145:

shades of Sharapova
  3:44pm MONEYBAG$:

I hear it a lot on the local jazz station because they only have about 12 CDs, mostly Ken Burns collections
  3:45pm Stan:

And Garner was self taught--grunts and all. Grew up listening to particularly Concert by the Sea...
Avatar 3:47pm Wild Neil:

I heard on Catholic Radio that 3am is Satan's hour. Kinda funny hearing this tune which sounds like anything but....
Avatar 3:52pm Listening Out There:

Marvin "Smitty" Smith with Branford?
Avatar 3:53pm Irwin:

These drums are killer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Ken From Hyde Park:

That one from YouTube reminds me of visits to Storybookland amusement park in Aberdeen, SD.
Avatar 3:54pm Irwin:

Justin Faulkner on the kit.
  3:54pm Dean:

On a good day, Branford and his group are stellar. I'm especially fond of the live record from Bloomington.
Avatar 3:54pm Irwin:

Justin at discogs: www.discogs.com...
Avatar 3:55pm Listening Out There:

Ah, thanks. Do not know him by name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Passaic River Blues:

A young gun, I see. This one grew on me within a few minutes.
  4:00pm Dennis Diken:

yeah man, those Kaempfert records with those bass drum bombs were always the bomb!
Avatar 4:00pm Irwin:

  4:02pm the garden:

Who is this guy? Jeez Louise..
Avatar 4:14pm Hoboken Jack:

Poor Freddy.
Avatar 4:20pm Irwin:

Joe's vignettes are often quite sensory.
Avatar 4:21pm Irwin:

wiki: "Another contributor to Kaempfert's music was guitarist/bassist Ladislav "Ladi" Geisler, who popularized the famous "knackbass" (crackling bass) sound, using the Fender Telecaster Bass Guitar, which became the most distinctive feature of many Kaempfert recordings — a treble staccato bass guitar sound in which the bass string was plucked with a pick and immediately suppressed to cancel out any sustain. It was Geisler who lent his guitar amplifier to The Beatles for their recording session with Tony Sheridan, after the band's own equipment proved to be inadequate for recording purposes."
  4:27pm JakeGould:

Does Joe Frank smile?

Covfefe, one and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm chris:

Blue Sands sounds like a Moondog composition to me, for some reason
Avatar 5:06pm geezerette:

yeah, it does.
Avatar 5:08pm Irwin:

Also a bit like Les Baxter
Avatar 5:09pm Fredericks:

Great band. Great leader.
Avatar 5:24pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Yeah - people are always on about Big Brother being Punks w/ the true spirit - but this is nicely articulated in a good way.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm common:

Good day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm Parq:

IMO, Big Bro weren't very good musicians but they had heart to spare. Kosmic didn't necessarily play the shit out of the thing, but they had the chops. For me, much like choosing between apple and pumpkins pies on Thanksgiving, I'll take some of both.
Avatar 5:30pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Listenable Shredcentric.
Avatar 5:31pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:
