Goooood morning :-B
  11:33am Dean:

This is why I love Don Rickles' story about asking Sinatra to do him a favor while he's dining in a restaurant with a woman. He asks Sinatra to stop by his table to say hi. Sinatra complies. Rickles says, "Frank! Can't you see I'm busy here?"
  11:35am paul:

@cat, episodes 2 and 3 are great, too.
Avatar #1 Hit Supporter Marathon 2021 Swag For Life Member 11:35am Uncle Michael:

Beats the Shecky Greene story.
  11:36am clarke:

wow, dean - i was going to mention the SAME story!!!!
  11:36am Dean:

Could be apocryphal, but Rickles used to tell it, and I so want to believe it's true.
  11:37am clarke:

except i think Rickles says: Frank, can't you see i'm with people!?!
Avatar #1 Hit Supporter Marathon 2021 Swag For Life Member 11:37am Uncle Michael:

Shecky's was true, too. "Frank Sinatra saved my life once. He said, "Okay, boys. That's enough."
  11:38am clarke:

has any writer ever broached the subject of mafia connections, etc. in a sinatra book??
Avatar 11:40am Michael Shelley:

This book is all over that - quoting FBI tapes & papers
  11:40am Dean:

Ha! I think there's a related Rickles story along those lines. He claims when Sinatra first saw him do his act he points him out in the audience and says, "Frank, make yourself at home. Hit somebody."
  11:40am clarke:

  11:41am Dean:

I'm gonna live until I nap.

Pretty sure Mailer addresses mob ties in Harlot's Ghost. Not non-fiction, but...

  11:43am George in WO:

  11:44am Mr C:

Both James Kaplan books on Sinatra, The Voice and the Chairman, are first rate in every way. Similar bookends to Guralnick 's Elvis.

Paul--if you like Jerry Fuller, listen to some of the Knickerbockers' songs (he wrote and produced many of them). Andrew Sandoval's Come to the Sunshine show on the FMU website has an hour of Knickerbockers' music. If you're not familiar with it, you're in for a treat. If you didn't know, Fuller also wrote and produced Arizona for Mark Lindsay and Show and Tell for Al Wilson.
