melinda - ANY worms in your ears is bad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm

True, dale. I kind of hate that phrase, too, but couldn't think of a better one.

Fox (Rā-chul):

I BEGGED my father to buy me Keds, even though I knew there was no difference between the brand name shoes and the ones that looked exactly alike from PathMark. Because I knew the hell I would get from the kids at school if my shoes didn't have that blue label on the back.

Anhyone else remember when you could get sneakers from discount stores, unboxed in huge bins that we—as kids—all called “rejects?” Now that was a bargain!

I clearly remember bins of yellow Converse high tops. Utterly nobody wanted them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22pm
melinda:

I remember a dime store that had bins of sneakers, but they were a rung or two below Converse. There was a black w/white stripes variety that a lot of kids wore in the 70s, don't know the brand.

to this day i couldn't tell you what the fashion trends were in my grade schools. i did get a chuckle and "nice shirt" on class picture day once, c.5th grade. i wore a paisley shirt, which i had worn before; and the comment came from the girl i most had a crush on, who was wearing a minidress much more colorful than my shirt.
- maybe she was flirting? anyway i didn't give a shit if anyone else didn't like my clothing.

Toxoplasmosis! It infects cat people. It also increases your likelihood of being in the BDSM scene. www.independent.co.uk...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm
melinda:

That's fascinating, Fox. Toxoplasmagondii is also linked to schizophrenia, didn't know about the BDSM.
Avatar 7:27pm
Fox (Rā-chul):

All my clothes when I was a kid came from a thrift store in Paterson, and hand me downs from cousins and from my two Great Aunts who still lived in Paterson. I wore old man 70's pants with high waists and massive plaid, crazy ornate women's hats from the 40's, velvet smoking jackets, etc.

Fox did you like dressing like that?
...i was intrigued by the girls who dressed crazy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30pm
coelacanth∅:

i don't like moist cookies, in general. i like cooked cookies.
  7:31pm
JakeGould:

NOT GOOD!!!
Avatar 7:36pm
Fox (Rā-chul):

I didn't really have a critical sense of myself. I was chubby/fat, I didn't really care. I dressed in whatever I could find, and thought it was fun, and never really thought about it. I was always like that, though. I dressed only by obsessively matching colors, regardless of the fit or style of the article.

i wore hand me downs from my three brothers and when i got them i was happy because i was finally as big as they were.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm

i didn't notice that the clothes were worn out - until i split my pants in 4th grade. suddenly old clothes made me self -conscious.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm

my Aunt Kay was emerald, embedded. on holidays we had to decide who's going to sit and listen to Aunt Kay's stories for hours; but the fact is she had an interesting life and amazing stories - if you could be patient.

Avatar 7:47pm
Fox (Rā-chul):

Hey, Hearty fans: Is there a particular episode in which Hearty talks about how to find solace after the death of a loved one when one is of atheist leanings? I'm having some difficulty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm
coelacanth∅:

interesting, Fox. (@7.36) i don't know how i would've interpreted that, as a child. i was conscious of my clothes in that i picked them. if i got brown fuzzy corduroy flairs it was because i liked them. i never looked at what other kids were wearing.
-i don't know why i rarely got my older brother's cloths. probably because we generally wore our clothes until they were unwearable, i guess.
  7:51pm
steve:

Hearty spoke a good deal about the death of a close friend at his show at Monty Hall during the past marathon... that may be online.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm
melinda:

I think he was considering not airing that performance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm
melinda:

I hope he does, though.
Avatar 7:53pm
Fox (Rā-chul):

Oh, he'd mentioned that. I remember that, now.

I didn't get a chance to attend that performance. I had migraines.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm
