  12:06am sfolk16:

so happy to finally be able to listen to you live tonight! what a treat!
Avatar 12:07am Jeff Conklin:

Welcome, sfolk16
  12:08am Russ:

Also a first time live listener tonight, though I've caught some of your stuff in the past.
  12:09am sfolk16:

excited to be here! checking in from Yellow Springs, OH!
  12:10am KP:

Hey, Jeff
Avatar 12:12am Jeff Conklin:

Nice to have some first timers. Welcome, all
Avatar 12:12am Jeff Conklin:

Archives are great but there's something special about real time
  12:16am sfolk16:

Indeed. I've been waiting for months to do a 'real time' thing...On a break from work and finally able to do it live...sometimes, these jobs can be a real inconvenience!
  12:16am Mario:

New week. Good morning!
Avatar 12:17am slugluv1313:

good evening, Jeff and everyone!
NICE! actually diggin' this Grateful Dead piece!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19am tuner fish:

Jeff, you seriously need to get with the people at the Sirius Grateful Dead Channel. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE that station, but they are hit and miss whereas your show always features the absolute BEST of the Dead.
Avatar 12:19am Jeff Conklin:

@slug oh
Avatar 12:23am Jeff Conklin:

@tuner: Thanks. My buddy says they don't believe in actual live DJs over there?!
Avatar 12:25am Johnny Sal:

Is it me or has the flare on these jeans gotten much wider? @Road I'm Trying
  12:25am sfolk16:

love it ROAD! Redding and Co. laying it out!
  12:25am Russ:

The GD channel plays some great stuff...but a lot of times they seem to just throw in studio tracks picked at random. I've heard "France" "Good Lovin" and "Money Money" more than once in the past couple weeks! (And I don't listen that often)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26am tuner fish:

Well, unfortunately for some of the stations they DO have live DJs, where I think that just playing music with no talking would be great. Then there are some stations that have some DJs who provide excellent insight into the music. The Grateful Dead Channel is one of the best channels there, and they do play like three whole concerts per day, but some of the selections in between make me ask "was that really the version someone wanted to play?" like the whole thing is just on shuffle. It could use a little guidance.
Avatar 12:26am Jeff Conklin:

My experience with the GD channel is very limited. Mostly if I rent a car that has satellite
  12:31am sfolk16:

@JeffConklin....HA!!! The obligatory 'Casey Jones' on repeat rental car special!!!!
  12:31am KP:

Speaking of GD, I drove up from NoVa today listening to Grayfolded. It's awesome but I forgot about Cease Tone Beam and such
  12:45am Mario:

This Agitation Free's live is superb
  12:52am sfolk16:

WOW! Agitation Free live! beautiful!
Avatar 12:57am Jeff Conklin:

There's a live CD that came out in the 90s that's essential
  1:01am sfolk16:

Yeah? discogs calls now....!
Avatar 1:03am terribilia:

Avatar 1:03am goose-morgan:

That was amazing
  1:07am Dean:

Epitaph, Guru Guru, Kraan, Jane, early Grobschnitt, Yatha Sidhra, Release Music Orchestra...but yeah, AF were solid.
Avatar 1:09am StatlerPat:

Great 1 AM vibes tonight.
  1:10am sfolk16:

been diggin' that Highway LP as well!
Avatar 1:12am Jeff Conklin:

@Dean: I stand by my top two ;)
  1:13am Dean:

Wait...I didn't catch the second one...
Avatar 1:14am Jeff Conklin:

1. Popol Vuh 2. Agitation Free
Avatar 1:14am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

as a Men's RIght Activist I am upset that this shitty dude dies in this song...
Avatar 1:15am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

(not really) it's good to see a dumb man die in a murder ballad
  1:16am Dean:

Ah, right, PV. Hard to argue. I inclined toward Cosmic Jokers, though, and of course ART. Past tense, 'cuz I sold all that stuff decades ago, not very smartly.
Avatar 1:16am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

Avatar 1:17am StatlerPat:

The murder ballad needs to make a comeback
  1:19am Dean:

And weirdly I most miss the Epitaph. They were, in a way, the (Workingman's) Dead of Krautrock.
Avatar 1:19am Jeff Conklin:

Actually saw a copy of "Outside the Law" today in the bins of a shop i visited. A little too poppy for me
  1:21am Dean:

Well, shoot. Coulda been mine. My pop filter is a bit tattered. Can't stomach ABBA, love Alessi Bros.
  1:25am sfolk16:

'Fresh Air'...the best cut off that Epitaph LP for my money....?
Avatar 1:25am Jeff Conklin:

Oh, by the way, I made a FB page for the show. I'll be posting relevant music/news on it. Throw it a "like" if you're on there: www.facebook.com...
  1:30am sfolk16:

this new C. Johnson is really nice...........
Avatar 1:30am terribilia:

i found this old french guy on youtube who does a lot of really nice bert jansch and john renbourn covers. been meaning to post him on here for a while: www.youtube.com...
Avatar 1:31am slugluv1313:

yes, gorgeous! ("Eye on the Sparrow")
Avatar 1:40am Jeff Conklin:

I hate when I look for a Dylan tune on YouTube and only find covers
  1:41am sfolk16:

Popol Vuh and Agitation free in one night...what an awesome experience!!!
  1:41am Matt W:

Great sweep of tunes here, Jeff. A gentle wake-up call...
Avatar 1:43am Jeff Conklin:

1. Garcia
2. Fahey
3. Fichelscher
  1:44am sfolk16:

  1:45am sfolk16:

I mean, actually "NO"....!!!!!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01am Ken From Hyde Park:

  2:16am sfolk16:

E. Fin....Nice Tune!
  2:18am sfolk16:

! Look at your game girl" HA! ..........
  2:20am Dean:

Buddy of mine who ran a record store in the '90s had a copy of the Manson album.
  2:23am Jeff Conklin:

Now anyone can own it. Freshly reissued by ESP-Disk
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28am David D:

Enjoying the show - best from Leipzig!
  2:40am Mike tp:

Purple tune reminds me of PESRLS BEFORE SWINE a bit.!
  2:42am Dean:

Wow. Taussig and Ochs are playing up the street from where I live a couple miles in a record store at the end of the month.
Avatar 2:47am Jeff Conklin:

@Dean: Saw Taussig last year. Amazing. Hit that show!
  2:47am Dean:

Or so it seems. Announcement reads, "Starting at 2PM Tompkins Square presents folk guitarists Harry Taussig & Max Ochs. They were both featured on a (now vintage) sampler LP, 'Contemporary Guitar - Spring '67', along side John Fahey, Robbie Basho, and Bukka White."
  2:48am Dean:

It's free and, anyway, I'm at the store many weekends to shop.
  2:51am Dean:

They're also appearing nearby in town at a cozy little venue. This'll be fun.
Avatar 2:51am Jeff Conklin:

@Dean: Where's this?
  2:53am Dean:

Berkeley's new Back Room (the cozy venue) and El Cerritos' Down Home Records (the free show)
  2:54am Dean:

Down Home doesn't show the event on its website. Went out in email a couple days ago.
  2:54am Dean:

Back Room has a nominal fee.
Avatar 2:57am Jeff Conklin:

Very cool.

Thanks for hanging, everyone. Have a great week and see you back here down the road
