I'm going to have to remember "Misplaced in Time" -- great piece. I love how it goes back & forth between major & minor, & gives the impression of changing measure too, though it doesn't.
Avatar 3:24pm Monica:

got a light, zopa? thx, michael... listener robert, pretty sure it's based on this song playing now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm Jeff Golick:

i played hockey for years. i've broken many things.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm People Like Us:

I broke my leg, arm, collar bone and pelvis all in one go
Avatar 3:40pm Chris from DC:

That is awful. Broke my foot a few years ago on the day of a very rare earthquake in DC. Six months of dealing with it.
Avatar 3:40pm Nick S.:

I broke my left femur, right collar bone, nose, right big toe, little toes many times.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm Dominick:

Yeah, I broke my collarbone back in 8th grade. Fell off my bike into a curb. How's the wrist mending?
Avatar 3:41pm Jeff:

Lovin' this show from three entire floors away.
Avatar 3:41pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

No broken bones here, but Mrs. Druid did get a compound fracture of the femur at the dog park a while back: OUR OWN dog broke her leg by running around & not paying attention. .... Side note: boxers have hard heads.
Avatar 3:42pm CDToaster:

Oh my, yes, I know your pain. One thing you didn't mention was whether it was your MAIN wrist or not? If you're right handed, and it was your right wrist, I know very well your suffering. The good news is you'll heal.
(mta) Tony
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm sphere:

I have gout in my right foot. When it flares up, it is very very painful.
Avatar 3:43pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

To this day, anytime she even whispers 'ouch,' that dog is IMMEDIATELY PRESENT and attentive with laser-beam focus.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm doctorjazz:

I've done a number on myself on my bike, think I'm a great mountain biker, but fractured my left elbow once and my pinky a few times
Avatar 3:43pm Parq:

Fell down a lot in 2015. Fractured a wrist bone in October of that year. Had three broken bones by the time I was 16, starting with a broken collar bone falling off a fence at age 6.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm annie:

no breakage, but a serious sprain under my right shoulder blade, trying to avoid a collision with a kitchen.counter. stiff all around the shoulder joint.. blech
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Ken From Hyde Park:

My sister fell off her horse last weekend and broke her foot; now healing with a plate and about ten screws. A basketball bounced off a finger once and chipped off a piece of my knucklebone.
@glenn - How many teeth are you missing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Michael 98145:

yikes, wishing you well, DJ M
  3:45pm Los Angeles:

Oh no! Feel better. I only have suffered a broken heart. And that sucked.
Avatar 3:45pm Monica:

hey there, los angeles, CB Uno, UM, chris from DC, Nick S., thx jeff, Rev. Turnip Druid, CD Toaster. damn y'all broke way more than me!!!
  3:45pm CB2:

Torn bone off ankle running track. Taught me to avoid all sports with a passion.
Avatar 3:46pm glenn:

only a couple. my brother has a full plate though, courtesy of a high stick.
Avatar 3:46pm SheWolf:

Dislocated my knee at 18, had ACL surgery. Bunion surgery a few years ago and a couple of screws in there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm melinda:

I had a minor fracture of a bone in my foot many years ago which kept me from being able to drive or walk long distances for some weeks. It doesn't take much to throw a wrench in your normal routine and activities. Also, I broke the metatarsal bone just by getting out of bed! Put weight on a foot that was asleep.
Avatar 3:47pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Moral to the dog story: he could have easily have broken someone else's leg instead... and in that neighborhood, most of the other dog-owners were probably lawyers of some kind. So there's a very faint bright side (?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm annie:

both my anlkles were broken on purpose when i was seven to force fusing of the bones. odd thing?? they are the strongest bones in my body now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm Michael 98145:

what doesn't break you makes your stronger? no, wait. what doesn't kill you makes you tired.
Avatar 3:49pm Listening Out There:

Why didn't anybody tell me Monica was on...
  3:50pm zopa:

Listening Out There... Monica is on!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm Jeff Golick:

I broke a rib earlier this year, most likely due to aggressive coughing, brought on by the flu (or something), brought on (in my mind, at least) by 1/20/2017.

Feel better soon, Sheila, Monica, and all ailing!
Avatar 3:50pm Parq:

Also, broke the shit out the olecranon in my right elbow in 2008. Ended up in Bellevue (and I've already heard all of them) for almost a week on that one. Pro tip to authors with writer's block: get injured and get the ambulance driver to take you to Bellevue. You'll have enough characters right in your room with you to supply you with inspiration for months.
Avatar 3:51pm Monica:

CB Dos!... hi, listening out there!... let's all go break a bone together after the show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm northguineahills:

*Drowning in a fog of thought*, wait, I hear Laetitia Sadier!
Avatar 3:52pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

NGH: just went through the exact same process.
Avatar 3:52pm CDToaster:

...so did you break your main wrist or your "other" wrist?
I hope the doc said it won't affect the carpal tunnel.
I guess I'm the only one who broke their skin off (as in burned it off).
(mta) Tony
Avatar 3:53pm glenn:

busted ribs are the worst, no ifs, ands or buts.
  3:54pm Los Angeles:

I knew someone who fell 6 stories from a manhattan window and survived. He shattered everything
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Rob Kopp:

Hope he had a good insurance
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm annie:

oh geez glenn, each time i cough or move my arm in any sudden manner.. shooting pain; this must be what it's like to hurt a rib.
Avatar 3:55pm CDToaster:

@annie: OMG are you serious!??? Wow, did that happen here in America or are you from another country? And I don't mean to ask your age, but WHEN was this done, in the '40's? Would ANY doctor do that to any child today? Wow, what an amazing story, annie. THANKS for sharing!

Never broke a bone. Regularly knock, gouge and scrape myself, though. Last week a sawzall fell off a mantel down on me when I was crouched low on the floor. Wasn't running and I wasn't stabbed by the blade end. Quite a punch. Once I established I wasn't really hurt, I wanted a PROUD bruise for the record. Got a fair one. Here, look...

cdtoaster, i was born with club feet, 1953, and, after the "adjustments", they opened up both feet to fuse the joints. surprisingly i was up and walking with those full-casted legs within days. nothing stops me.. the amount of pain and suffering i witnessed in the clinic in brooklyn was enough to cure me of any minor complaints..most of my life..

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm annie:

what was scary was having been left there with my parents walking away.. hospital conditions and practices were primitive!! i had hallucinations during the surgeries. stupid nurse told me the ether would smell like flowers... you can bet your bottom dollar i fought like hell for the second round.
Avatar 4:03pm CDToaster:

What a wonderful attitude you've developed over the years with all your experience. I'm so thrilled to learn your fortunate outcome. With all the suffering out there, we''ve got much to be thankful for. Again, thanks so much for sharing your personal experience. We're about the same age.

  4:11pm Laura L:

Hi Monica, nice to hear you on the air amid broken bones--hope you got a bandage like the one the dame in the photo has on her business wrist.
Avatar 4:11pm CDToaster:

@Monica: you really don't know how lucky you are to have NOT broken your "dominant" (THAT'S the word I was searching for!) side. Yeah, I broke all the skin off my dominant hand over 40 years ago. I've been blessed with good health so I've fully recovered and you can barely see the scar. I think the vast majority of folks have broken their fifth metatarsal and aren't even saying so because it's so common, right listeners? Well, at least the guys know what I mean.

Avatar 4:21pm still b/p:

Don't know how bones weren't broken in youth. At Easter family gathering a couple weeks ago, the story was recounted of how, in a moment of age 15 wicked smartness and Darwin Award audition, I used my sneakered forefoot to give the front bike wheel wingnut a little tightening check while zooming downhill. Toe in spokes, ass over teakettle and over bicycle, HARD decent-velocity landing slide. Bloody scrapes and SORE forefoot.

ok i want to throw my hat into the ring here. when i was 18 months old i was doing a ballerina dance and i broke my head on a radiator. literally broke my fucking head and was bleeding everywhere. so then they took me to the hospital and i had to get staples, and everyone was constantly spelling b-l-o-o-d so as not to scare me, but they said it so often i managed to figure out what it meant so i started screaming "NO B-L-O-O-D!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm Wendy del Formaggio:

They always send you home with an allotted # of percs. I have no idea how people take those. I didn't need any. The Dr. followed up with phone calls telling me to take them to get "ahead of the pain" I had no pain. He still insisted. I took half of one- had an out of body experience & then went to sleep.

OOO! Another injury story that still affects me to this day! When I was 12, I slammed my left index finger in a car door and injured the tip so badly that it's permanently deformed and I still have chronic pain in it. It hurts right now, as a matter of fact, after 10 YEARS! Typing's a bitch. I had to have the blood drained from it with a needle, and to this day that's the worst pain I've ever felt.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43pm Wendy del Formaggio:

@Parq: I just had a minor medical procedure yesterday morning (a blood draw, which is an ordeal for me requiring downers and lidocaine) and I'm *still* coming down from the big dose of Xanax they gave me. There's my contribution! I've also had Vicodin prescribed for stuff, and boy, I don't know how the fictional Dr. House functions on that stuff. It's a whopper!

So: I was insured, went to U of Wash Medical Center, which was great, even the food was good. One-day hospital stay (27 hrs or so) and suffered way too many trips to radiology for X-rays and CT scans to pad the bill ($18K+ all told). I was insured. But still!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm Jeff Golick:

Worst pain? I've had three separate retinal detachments. To reattach, it's a needle in the eye, followed by some kind of supercold cryo freezing stick that cauterizes the spot where the retina came loose. I preferred being knocked out and operated on, which happened the very first time (as it was an emergency situation).

Luckily, I was wearing work boots so all I got was a major bruise, much swelling and a break in some tarsal bone. So always wear sturdy shoes and a helmet while on a motorcycle. Never really listened to Nas before -- based on that, he's not bad for a mainstream rapper at all. Is the rest of his stuff that decent? I usually don't dig the mainstream -- too much materialism & misogyny -- but that was almost reminiscent of more underground sounds like Blackalicious or Killer Mike, or Billy Jam type sounds.
