Avatar 12:09pm Chris M.:

@Bronwyn Bishop: the o has to have two letters after it that's the trick
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm Bronwyn Bishop:

the ord river has you covered: en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar 12:12pm KellTX:

Ugh, I suck at pop quizzes.
Avatar 12:13pm Chris M.:

@Bronwyn Bishop: thanks but that is a proper noun and i am trying to cheat at scrabble here. i don't think there is a word after all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm tmoyo:

Yay! William Eggleston photo!
  12:14pm Marcel M:

  12:15pm zopa:

@chris M: are acronyms allowed?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Barney Grubbs:

@Chris M.: a "dorn" is apparently a type of british ray or skate
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Mick:

"nord" would work, but that's French. Maybe it's a word in English too?
  12:16pm zopa:

orn: Verb

(third-person singular simple present orns, present participle orning, simple past and past participle orned)

(obsolete) To ornament; to adorn.
Avatar 12:16pm MenfussMike:

Charlie Hull once let me listen in on a rather loaded William Eggleston phone conversation at the Lamplighter Lounge in midtown Memphis around 2002.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Mick:

Oh, or "norn" - creature from Norse mythology
Avatar 12:20pm Chris M.:

thanks for the suggestions everyone but i couldn't play those words. no more scrabble i have to dj now.
Avatar 12:24pm Jeff:

So wait - Jute Gyte sounds like a Scandinavian name and the vocals include a great Tasmanian Devil impression, but the whole band is some guy from Missouri?
Avatar 12:26pm KellTX:

I just spit out my coffee! Thanks @Jeff! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Just saw Artificial Brain with Pyrrhon in DC this past weekend - fantastic show.
Avatar 1:02pm Whooda:

This does sound different but I was expecting something that sounded different.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Fox (Rā-chul):

Differently different?
Avatar 1:09pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

i have arrived at this critical moment.
Avatar 1:09pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

any riff with more than one note has too many notes.
(almost) not kidding.
Avatar 1:12pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

also...... CLICKQUEK.

Avatar 1:17pm Polyus:

The U.K. kicks the U.S.'s butt so badly in the head music field right now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, folks. I see by the calendar it's May the Fourth of 2017. Cool, huh?
  1:24pm Veronica:

I don't get it
Avatar 1:24pm Whooda:

That's so true @KenFHP.Our one and only chance to celebrate this special, once in a lifetime, day.
Avatar 1:24pm Wild Neil:

PEACE all. 5/4/2017. Ok. Head music? Like neb-psychedelia, Polyus? Brian Jonestown Massacre or do you mean like Virus and Dengue Fever? Or other?
Avatar 1:25pm Wild Neil:

NEO psychedelia. oops.
Avatar 1:25pm Chris from DC:

I'm going to celebrate by attempting to remain upright at my desk. No guarantees.
Avatar 1:25pm themutante:

The beautiful dulcet tones of Eugene S Robinson.
Avatar 1:31pm Polyus:

@Neil - a more broad way of saying psychedelic, I guess. But a lot of British bands right now making great music blending psych with noise rock, drone, groove, all sorts of elements. Whereas most American psych bands I hear are still doing rote recreations of West Coast 60s stuff or, yeah, warmed-over BJM.
  1:31pm Blinda:

My older brother gave me a tape of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars when I was 13
  1:31pm Blinda:

Thus began a lifetime of putting David Bowie posters on my ceiling
Avatar 1:34pm Whooda:

Oklahoma- two weeks in 8th grade English classroom circa 1973 diverted to studing Bowie's Ziggy Stardust Spiders from Mars album, mimeographed lyrics and all. Imagine trying to make sense of that! The teacher was fired and the second teacher was severely reprimanded for their initiative.
Avatar 1:36pm MenfussMike:

ugly custard hahahaha. play Ultimate Spinach next.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm Michael 98145:

Count to 10 backwards... you won't feel a thing.
Avatar 2:23pm markr:

I saw the Gun Club at this tiny little restaurant/bar where I worked in the early 80 in East Lansing, Michigan
Avatar 2:24pm markr:

The owner owned the record store upstairs and he started booking bands he liked, and the Gun Club were amazing. I had never heard of them before.
Avatar 2:25pm markr:

So there's a new Gun Club record?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm Michael 98145:

[ this is like the best record store ever .. ]
Avatar 2:32pm Chris M.:

@Michael 98145: wow thanks
Avatar 2:39pm northguineahills:

Can't get enough of this Alice Coltrane release....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm JP from KC:

Howdy, Y'all. Polyus, if you're still around the comments, I just sent you a direct message request. I've been a bit enamored with that neo-psychedelic style you spoke of earlier, as of late, and I was hoping you might be able to give me a short list of some U.K. bands to delve into.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Bronwyn Bishop:

fuck. bye bye obamacare
Avatar 2:42pm Chris from DC:

Oh no.
  2:42pm zopa:

still has to go through senate, then reconciliation, then the house again. a lot could still happen.
Avatar 2:43pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

alice very much in wonderland.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm WO Town Wick:

markr--I spent a few college years in East Lansing in late 80's--what was the place you saw Gun Club?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm Michael 98145:

( whoa )
  2:44pm Andal:

It's fun to have your possibility of seeing age 30 put up to a vote.
Avatar 2:45pm markr:

It was called Bunches Cafe and they had music there from about '80-'83-ish? They were right next to the Bagel Fragel and the Peanut Barrel (the Peanut Barrel's still there!) I saw Eugene Chadbourne there, too. Also R.E.M. played there but I missed it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm Mick:

Thanks for the great music Chris M.
Avatar 2:46pm markr:

They weren't doing music by the late 80s, the guy sold the place and went back to just selling records, and he's still there too, the store is called Flat Black & Circular.
Avatar 2:48pm markr:

Anyone who loses a congressional race to one of these bastards deserves to lose. It's not too often you get to say about your opponent, "He killed thousands of people."
Avatar 2:49pm Polyus:

@JP - oops, didn't see it. Actually, a lot of the bands I am thinking of can be heard on this fine station - Gnod, Hey Colossus, Cosmic Dead, Blown Out, Haikai No Ku. I have even been digging that Moonlandingz record, which is a bit more all over the place.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm chris:

loved (still loving) the show today, Chris M. thanks, man.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm Michael 98145:

great, great; thank you again DJ Chris M
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm WO Town Wick:

Thanks--markr-- I guess I missed Bunches but remember FBC fondly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm tmoyo:

Yay! Doug Sahm!
Avatar 2:58pm Chris M.:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm WO Town Wick:
