BEAVO:

Morning Mark. Great start.
  3:10am
Mark R:

Welcome, Beavo. Figured "The Bells" would get everyone's eyes open.
Avatar 3:19am
Scraps:

That was awesome!
  3:23am
Mark R:

Welcome, Scraps! Glad you enjoyed it.
  3:53am
Ronny G from Yorktown:

Sadly I have to go to bed but I'm loving the set so far. Thanks for fighting the early morning fight
  3:54am
Ronny G from Yorktown:

Have a great day mark!
  3:55am
Mark R:

Thanks, Ronny! Sleep tight! Don't let the bedbugs bite (as my dad used to say)!
Avatar 3:58am
Scraps:

My dad & mom did, too. Wonder how old your dad is/was. My parents are 75.
  3:58am
Ronny G from Yorktown:

Hahaha! Mine too! Thank you very much. Much appreciated haha
  4:01am
Mark R:

Dad passed away in 1997 at the age of 74. Hard to believe it's been that long. As you can tell, I still think about him a lot--all the funny stuff he used to say.
Avatar 4:02am
Scraps:

Oh, that's great, both a great Mingus tune and great player.
Avatar 4:02am
Scraps:

Salute to your Dad.
  4:04am
Mark R:

The whole group is great--Geri Allen (from Detroit, I always have to mention when they're from Detroit) on piano, Rick Rozie on bass, Pheeroan Ak Laff on drums, Steve Turre and Robin Eubanks on trombones. Yes, two trombones!
Avatar 4:05am
Scraps:

Wow, that is a great band.
  4:06am
Ronny G from Yorktown:

I second the salute to your father! He produced a great man! And his still very much alive in your mind!
  4:06am
Ronny G from Yorktown:

And this group is incredibly talented. Nothing out there like this rn! It's got pizzazz
  4:07am
Ronny G from Yorktown:

Ok I'm going to bed for real now. Goodnight circle and all in it
  4:09am
Mark R:

Thank you for your kind words, Ronny. Maybe you can leave the radio on at low volume as you drift away, to stimulate some weirdo FMU dreams.
Avatar 4:10am
Scraps:

Have you heard Flute Force Four, four flautists that recorded one album? Two of them were James Newton and Henry Threadgill
  4:11am
Mark R:

I have not, Scraps, I'll have to look for that one. The group name is a sobriety test, I can tell you that!
Avatar 4:13am
Scraps:

1997, Black Saint. It's really good. Well, I think so.
  4:14am
Mark R:

Black Saint was a great label. I'd almost buy any album blind if it was on that label. You can't go wrong.
Avatar 4:16am
Scraps:

And, yes, the sobriety test: the album's title is Flutistry. :-)

And I agree about Black Saint (and Soul Note)
Avatar 4:19am
Scraps:

Oh yeah, "Superstar" AND Rita Coolidge!
Avatar 4:21am
Scraps:

Okay, lie down now, listening. Cheers.
  4:23am
Mark R:

Cheers, Scraps.
Avatar 4:31am
Scraps:

Superstar was written by Bramlett and Leon Russell. :-)
  4:32am
BK, Oslo:

The Sound! Yeah. An all time favorite of mine.
  4:32am
Mark R:

Glad we could rock it for you, BK! Welcome!
  4:36am
Mark R:

The girls, they love to see you shoot!
Avatar 4:39am
Scraps:

I always think of The Sound for a friend who lent two of their early albums to me, and they were still in my possession when he was shot and killed in a mugging. He was so sweet. Memories are tied with... weird things
  4:41am
Mark R:

How awful, Scraps. And yes, memories can be very weird sometimes.
Avatar 4:41am
Scraps:

Call Me Up is an awesome song. And Songs of the Free is an underrated album, mostly because the first two Gang of Four albums were so great
Avatar 4:43am
Scraps:

Um, also I Love A Man in a Uniform, too. Gee.
Avatar 4:48am
Scraps:

Did I say that I'm going to lie down? Yes....

Oh man, Messiaen! Wow.

A wonderfully fine thing, this Ammons/Chambers. Thank you, Mark.

Glad you're enjoying, Sem.
