So, if you "shake what mama gave ya'," would it really "knock your socks off"? Asking for a friend.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28am Amanda:

Geils will make 'em smile! Hi Nate!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31am Ken From Hyde Park:

EFD kicked off his show with an entire set of J. Geils last night. A totally triumphant tribute, it was.

OMG!!! It's almost out! Thanks for the reminder, Ken HP.
Avatar 9:41am Parq:

Hi gang. This Palmer always makes me think of the Broadway dance piece "Contact", where it was used for a number in the second act.
Avatar 9:42am Chris Crash:

AMANDA!!! Your show is *samurai sword swinging noise* simply irresistible
  9:43am P-90:

Cool segue!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46am Artie Haywire:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46am Amanda:

P-90, thanks! Chris, I believe that noise is called "schwing" and I'm now realizing that Palmer's song is probably where Mike Myers got that word from...
  9:48am sugarwolf:

Hello, slow morning at work today
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49am Ken From Hyde Park:

@Amanda - Most welcome. I'm part of MAS (Monkee Alert System).

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59am Amanda:

@UM, you have to get this comp! You would love it.
Avatar 10:05am Chris Crash:

Huey Lewisian pop!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am JtotheK:

@Amanda - does Fine Young Cannibals "she drives me crazy" qualify as megalomaniac pop? hi everyone.
  10:07am P-90:

does "Venus" by Bananarama count?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07am Nate K.:

"Get Outta My Dreams, Get into My Car" by Billy Ocean
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08am JtotheK:

Billy Ocean -- seconded!
Avatar 10:09am Parq:

The whole What Up Dog album from whence "Dinosaur" sprung is one of my favorites. And Jto beat me to "Drives Me".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09am JtotheK:

UB40 "Red Red Wine" ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09am Amanda:

I am loving all these suggestions--you all are spot on!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10am Little Danny:

Good morning Amanda, good morning all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10am JtotheK:

hiya Danny!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11am Nate K.:

How does Eagles solo material figure into this genre? "The H is O," "All She Wants to Do Is Dance"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13am JtotheK:

and Don Henley 'Dirty Laundry' ...
  10:13am Rich in NC:

you are my sunshine-------follow the bouncing ball with mitch miller and my grandma
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13am Amanda:

@Nate, glad you asked. Just because someone IS a megalomaniac doesn't automatically qualify them as a megalomaniac-pop artist. I'd say "All She Wants to Do Is Dance" is close.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am Nate K.:

OK, good to know. How about "King of Wishful Thinking" by Go West? Or am I drifting off base?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am Amanda:

But Don Henley and Lou Gramm, etc. solo songs of that era often fall into another category I like to call "divorce rock."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am Little Danny:

one of the great rock 'n' roll couples, these two
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am Nate K.:

That this conversation is currently being soundtracked by the MC5 and Dead Moon is appropriately freeform.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17am Nate K.:

"Midnight Blue" is a great song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17am Amanda:

King of Wishful Thinking (which I love btw) feels like an excellent late-arriving exemplar. Don't worry, we will all figure this out together.
Avatar 10:18am KP:

I saw the MC5 as an opening act. I'd like to say i forgot who the headliner was but it was Boz Scaggs
Avatar 10:22am Parq:

"Four of Us" -- such a great album. As a kid, I bought it and "Real Live" together. Played the shit out of them.
Avatar 10:29am KP:

A Who song and two Moons.
Avatar 10:32am KP:

Eagles defined Yacht Rock. Speaking of which i recenty saw a marquee for the Yacht Rock All-Stars and shuddered.
Avatar 10:33am Chris Crash:

Jug band manager!
Avatar 10:34am Parq:

KP, me too.
Avatar 10:36am Chris Crash:

Are you going to go see Shonen Knife play in brooklyn at the end of the month??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38am Amanda:

@Chris - I just might!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39am listener james from westwood:

Avatar 10:39am Chris Crash:

Between seeing them soon and seeing The Marked Men last week, April was full of dream shows I never imagined I'd see!
Avatar 10:51am SpamPrince:

My only beef with Columbo is it’s never a ‘mystery’- they give away how it’s done in first sequence and the rest is about Falk giving the rich arrogant criminals their comeuppance- which is enjoyable. I have been watching Hunter lately on the Heroes & Icons channel so not really one to throw stones-
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am Amanda:

@SpamPrince- Heroes & Icons, nice! I contend that the "mystery" in Columbo is HOW he will figure it out.
  11:00am P-90:

Yes, the "gimmick" is that the audience knows "whodunnits" and the fun is watching Columbo torture the killer who thinks he's so smart as he breaks down the case. I've become quite a Heroes & Icons fan lately. And the Decades Network "Kung Fu" weekend binge was a blast!
Avatar 11:01am SpamPrince:

True - & it’s all the more needling coming from the unwashed gruff little schmuck they underestimated. It’s really about income inequality – Great show Amanda! - Josh
  11:04am P-90:

Groovy! A Mickey "fave"!
Avatar 11:06am KP:

And I caught Dolenz recently at 54 Below. Second time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am Amanda:

I recently started watching the '90s-era Columbo revival episodes... of course they aren't as good, but enough time has gone by that they have significant camp value and Falk is amazing at any age.

@KP, so jealous! I have to do that sometime, I have had it recommended to me several times.
Avatar 11:09am SpamPrince:

Holy Grail - (not seen yet) en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar 11:10am KP:

Have seen him twice there. It's a great venue and he responds to the setting
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10am listener james from westwood:

No mistaking Merritt!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11am Amanda:

@James - You know, I thought I was totally over him but I surprised myself by how psyched I am about this release.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am listener james from westwood:

Delightful Kenton!
Avatar 11:20am Chris Crash:

It's been years since I've been on a date with a....what do you call em......woman

"That's what happens when you don't hail to the chimp!"
Avatar 11:23am Chris Crash:

I relate to this episode, being a fellow Joe Pukepail
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am listener james from westwood:

Almost choked to death on the animation of Homer leaping out of Moe's car, then rolling back into it. On par w/ Homer being thrown out of the burning house, then bouncing back in, in "Homer the Heretic."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am listener james from westwood:

"I'm gonna buy you a steak the size of a toilet seat!"
Avatar 11:27am northguineahills:

"Hey sweetie, are you going to get the corpses?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am Paulie B:

"You look pretty clean."
Avatar 11:34am Chris Crash:

This part involved physical harm to Hans Moleman, which I'm always a fan of
Avatar 11:36am Chris Crash:

Oh god, my favorite part is when Barney comes out the second time actually with Homer & Moe, and he still has more beer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am Ken From Hyde Park:

"Yes, Moe, I'm going to find corpses." Hoo boy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am Stevel:

Avatar 11:59am Chris Crash:

OOOOh, fade out show ender with Arthurs Theme...power move
Avatar 11:59am northguineahills:

Thanks Amanda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm Amanda:

Thank you so so much for listening, everyone!!! I don't always get to call each person out by name but I see the comments later. I have so enjoyed doing this for you 2day.
