Evening, everyone :)
  8:08pm bunyan:

Da, da, we are starting with some fine music for the New Soviet Man! (A piece I imagine the General Secretary didn't care for and would before long be in a position to "weigh in" upon...)

good evening, Bethany and everyone!

Is this the part where we discover our neighbors are robots?

Hi RedKayak!

Grading student papers at the moment -play something soothing, lol.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20pm redkayak:

Howdy @jake!
  8:21pm bunyan:

I dunno: some of the passages put me in mind of some of the answers I get from students...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23pm redkayak:

@bunyan -- indeed :)
  8:23pm French person:

Hey, your french was alright, don't worry !

...Somehow making great background music for checking out the reveals today for what the 50th Anniversary edition of Sgt. Pepper's gonna be...
Avatar 8:24pm Bethany Ryker:

Thanks, French Person....if only I believed you :)

Music to Grade Papers By? This could be it....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I'm just getting lost in this nice pinano music. Thanks, Bethany!
  8:43pm French person:

I'm serious, your pronunciation was nice and, I don't know...I enjoy all those pieces even though I'm not a classical buff...
I feel a bit silly to do this now that it's a bit too late but...anyway...here is the proof... : Je suis content que vous passiez de la musique française sur WFMU parce que je pensais que nous n'étions pas trop bon comparés aux Allemands avec Can, Faust, Alva Noto, etc, et la Grande-Bretagne, et le Japon...
Damn, it took me a time to reply and feel a bit stupid, maybe I'm going to sleep soon, but don't worry, the guy who complained on e-mail was maybe a bit uptight IMO, and at worst everything is on the website... Don't worry !
  8:44pm French person:

a long time*
Avatar 8:45pm Bethany Ryker:

Ok, I believe you :) Are you in France? It really is bedtime if so, but I'm so happy you tuned into the show!
  8:45pm bunyan:

Hmm, the bits I had a chance to skim through on Warlock/Heseltine put me in mind of Carlo Gesualdo, who had a similarly brief and evidently tumultuous life three centuries earlier...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46pm Philthy woman:

Hi Bethany, tune into your show as often as I can and enjoy it much though I don't often comment, often cookin or otherwise involved but tonight is tops! For me at least- really enjoying every bit. Thank you!
  8:48pm JakeGould:

It’s 2:48 AM in France.
  8:50pm French person:

Yes, I'm in Grenoble :) (but I prefer Lyon who is ~100 miles away to be honest, it has a better music scene, even though the people who organize concerts in Grenoble are nice too, especially when it comes to the avant-garde scene with this place called the '102')
It's 2:45 AM here, but anyway, I was happy to talk to a WFMU DJ, thank you for your great freeform radio !
Avatar 8:54pm Bethany Ryker:

Glad we got to play some French composers - I'd never heard of Maurice Ohana until a short while ago. Makes me think of how many overlooked composers are out there, just a short distance away in this digital age.
Avatar 8:55pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Yes - great episode. Said it before & now again: feel so fortunate to have you select & present this for us!
  8:56pm Rynac:

Great show, especially the Purcell. . ..
Avatar 8:57pm Bethany Ryker:

Thanks, Rev Rabbit, Philthy Woman - always nice to hear that these compositions attract curious ears. Bunyan -good call on the Warlock/Heseltine comparison to Gesualdo!
  8:58pm listening out there:

Am diggin' tonight's show......
  10:14am Tom McGee:

Loving Tombeau de Messiaen, thanks!
