Gershwin Bros./Murderer's Row live on WFMU

Live performance by The Gershwin Brothers (Lane Steinberg and Dave Foster) with Murderers' Row (Mike Fornatale, Rembert Block, Lizzie Edwards and Erica Smith)
As Lane Steinberg describes their fateful meeting, "Dave Foster and I first met in 2015 when we did the Beach Boys' 'Wild Honey' album with Murderers' Row, a musical collective we're a part of. We started bouncing around song ideas and found we had a good collaborative relationship. Our pal and colleague, Erica Smith, dubbed us the Gershwin Brothers and the name stuck. Steinberg has several underappreciated albums to his credit, the most recent being another pop gem, 8X8's"Infloresence." Foster is a longtime member of Bubble, and contributes sweet Beatlesque guitar riffs to many friends' collaborations. The Gershwin Brothers were joined by members of Murderers' Row to premiere some of the songs that will be on an upcoming album.

  9:17pm Andrew:

Twenty years ago or so I was given a tape of Kurt Rosenwinkel and told he was going to become good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18pm Irene Trudel:

Andrew, I had Kurt on my show years ago when he was a member of Once Blue. I've been a fan ever since.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20pm Summer and Michael:

XTC sing about wages, which reminds me that I need to do my taxes. Peter sings about the war, which makes me think of Washington DC. Happy Tuesday!
Avatar 9:32pm herb.nyc:

Gershwin? Near my apartment is an Eldridge St bldg w/plaque to honor a previous resident, 1 of THE Gershwin brothers.
  9:32pm Bruce S.:

Hi Irene- Comforting and exciting to hear you- Know it will be a good night of music- Thanks
  9:34pm Andrew:

Irene, seems like you had Kurt on your show around or a bit before the time I was given the tape, and somewhat before I had learned about your show. I guess the archives don't go back quite that far.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm Irene Trudel:

Yes, that seems about right Andrew. I do have a tape of them but I don't know if we had started archives then.
  9:47pm spodiodi:

Thanks Irene, The Gershwin Brothers, and Murderer's Row. It all sounds really good.
  9:52pm herb.nyc:

  11:12pm Peter K.:

I could have sworn you ended that set with a version of "Femme Fatale," but you didn't back-announce it. Did I hallucinate it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm Scraps:

Love "Love on a Farmboy's Wages". Haven't heard that Holsapple song, but the name is great! And "You Get What You Deserve" is one of my two or three best Big Star faves. Cheers!
  11:18pm Andrew:

Haven't seen Van commenting for some time. Wanted to note that his favorite Samantha Fish that he so wanted to hear on WFMU is going to be a guest on the show next Monday noon to three, according to the recent Blast of Hot Air.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm Scraps:

And The Microscopic Septet!! So good whenver they have a new one
  11:58pm Andrew:

Nice ending segment to a nice show.
  7:09am anon:

And so the stalking continues... "xo" as if that meant that the many years of emotional abuse never happened. Apologies for interjecting this here, but everyone must be told that this person can't rewrite history and cover up what they did in the past, unless others allow it to happen by ignoring what they know to be true.
Avatar 5:28am Sean in Bristol UK:

Great show, Irene, thank you
