The Failure of Giant Men
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm Bronwyn Bishop:

hellooooo fabio and fabiettes
  3:12pm Brendan:

This track so reminds me of Quadrophenia, with the synths , drone, and Moon like drumming
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm JP from KC:

ooooh... digging this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm Carmichael:

Whole lotta Pinhas goin' on ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm JtotheK:

hi fabio, good afternoon everyone.
Avatar 3:18pm V Priceless:

Hey Fabio and all! On the topic of failure...the failure of Lou Reed to make it to 75 today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm YETI BOB:

love this Richard Pinhas track!
Avatar 3:20pm Cheri Pi:

This song made me realize what death was when I was 5.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Bronwyn Bishop:

I wrote a movie set in 1972 and listened to the hot 100 list of 1972 like 5000000 times while writing it and now this song is etched into my brain. speaking of which, i gotta revise that thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Take a walk on the failing side.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm YETI BOB:

cognitive dissonance
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm JP from KC:

Happy Birthday, Karen Carpenter! It's also Lou Reed's birthday today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

a.k.a.: Geezus was a Carpenter.
Avatar 3:23pm northguineahills:

Oh joy, it's Gate!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm JP from KC:

Oops. Didn't see V Priceless beat me to the Lou Reed mention. Also Jon Bon Jovi. He's like 55 today, I think
Avatar 3:24pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

@Cheri: for me that was Skeeter Davis' "end of the world" -- eerie stuff.
Avatar 3:25pm Cheri Pi:

Indeed @REV, that 5 yr old looking into the void feeling still hasn't gone away
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm Michael 98145:

Also the birthday of Kurt Julian Weill and Theodor Seuss Geisel.
  3:28pm Dean:

Speaking of birthdays, Sunday will be Mark E Smith's 60th. One week later, the 60th anniversary of the publication of The Cat in the Hat.

These are all related.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm Ken From Hyde Park:

One of my sisters' birthday today as well. Failure to being enough cake.
Avatar 3:30pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

...sometimes the Skeeter gazes back into YOU.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

2nd March ♓Pisceans: KurtWeill, Dr. Seuss, LouReed, KarenCarpenter
...too much...
  3:34pm Dean:

Probably it's some guy named Al Pombino's birthday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm braveness23:

B23 here!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm braveness23:

Hello @CP
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm braveness23:

I'm planning to increase my swag for life contribution. Mostly because I think I've grown by a shirt size and that might tank WMFU with the additional cost of fabric
Avatar 3:39pm Polyus:

I am none of those things.
Avatar 3:40pm Cheri Pi:

Heya B23!
Avatar 3:40pm Cheri Pi:

I have a couple of WoofMoo shirts for S23
  3:40pm Animator:

What are people doing? Having loads of fun?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm cklequ:

Increasing mine too, B23.
And they've FINALLY reprinted the Eat Flaming Death shirt.
Swag for life pays off.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm Michael 98145:

trying not to fail too heavily
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm braveness23:

@CP, S23 LOVES the WFMU shirts. I think we have a budding weirdo on our hands
  3:49pm Dean:

Tune playing now has a riff and flow that resembles Patti Smith's "Gone Again."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Bronwyn Bishop:

YES, I want that eat flaming death shirt again. It's the first FMU shirt I ever owned and I lost it. I used to have 7 FMU shirts and now I have two...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm JP from KC:

i also plan to increase my S4L this year, but how do I do that, exactly?
Avatar 3:57pm Chris from DC:

Liking this Kiritchenko thing a lot.
Avatar 3:59pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Someone selling a "vintage" FMU shirt on eBay for $32... I don't think it's that "vintage" .. just a couple of years ago, no? www.ebay.com...
Avatar 3:59pm Polyus:

I too have resolved to up my Swag pledge. Since Trump is going to make us all rich.
Avatar 4:01pm Chris from DC:

Yeah, Rev got that one. It was pretty recent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm Bronwyn Bishop:

have i mentioned that i fucking love the velvet underground

i know we all do, but i just felt like saying it
Avatar 4:02pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Jeezus. First WFMU shirt? I think it was a Choking on Cufflinks design with the Bibendum character & some levitating smiley mouths. 2007-ish?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm cklequ:

Rev. Turnip Druid - I think you can still buy that one directly from WFMU for half the price. I've been checking ebay on a regular basis for out of print WFMU shirts. I've found a couple of classics. But i refuse to pay more than what a t-shirt is worth.
Avatar 4:03pm V Priceless:

love Eno's version of this too
Avatar 4:03pm MenfussMike:

Velvets have been in my Top 10 for a longggggg time. I was in a bar in Key West when I found out Lou left us. The bar's box played Pale Blue Eyes
Avatar 4:05pm rascal yammers:

It's a Lou Reed kind of day... www.newyorker.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm Stanley:

If anyone wants to part with their 'Making the end times, happy times' tee, I'm prepared to pay top dollar for it.
  4:09pm Listener142985:

Hey, c'mon! Some of us were alive in 1969.
  4:10pm nic:

they had a trailer on the beach near me_planted 2 palm trees_lucy & desi_the palms are still here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm JP from KC:

I literally JUST saw the blurb on the homepage about Swag 4 Life renewal emails. Seriously... That's just how my day is going.
Avatar 4:10pm Jeff:

A few weeks back, Charlie Lewis was reading on air from Desi Arnaz's autobiography, titled: ...wait for it... "A Book".
  4:12pm Lou:

don't talk to me about work
  4:12pm eye in the sky:

Also Desi has a RFK assassination connection. Sirhan worked at a horse breeding op for Desi and the Beverly hillbilly guy - what? Buddy Ebsen. That story is wicked occult.
  4:12pm Tony:

I still have my first WFMU T-shirt, from around '95. It's the one that is dark blue with a pink design. I will probably have to throw it out soon though since it is falling apart.
Avatar 4:13pm Jeff:

For remaining classic shirts before stock is gone, check out:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm Bronwyn Bishop:

i love touch of evil
Avatar 4:14pm Chris from DC:

The Third Man all the way
  4:17pm Tony:

Wow, someone made a quilt of WFMU T-shirts! The one I was referring to is in the bottom left corner: https://flic.kr/p/95rSf4
  4:17pm Brendan:

I second the Third Man
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm Tome:

I think "A Clockwork Orange" ,,, and "Last Tango in Paris " at time was also rated *X* ( which is like ~ PG13 today,, almost .. )
Avatar 4:22pm Fabio:

Not to be too annoying here, but I have to point out that The Third Man was not directed by Welles, but Carol Reed. Though Welles pretty much stole the show and chewed up every scene he is in...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm foofs:

This is a great birthday dedication tune.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm Carmichael:

First shirt was the Escuche! shirt.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm alan from sacto:

Oh and I third the the Third Man, Carol Reed notwithstanding. Zither take me away.
  4:30pm Brendan:

Thanks for the info. Always thought it was Orson , given the long camera shots in the square, the shadows, the cat and mouse escape. Powerful scenes.
Avatar 4:30pm Chris from DC:

Yes the music for that one is amazing.
Avatar 4:31pm Chris from DC:

And Fabio, yes I was thinking of it in terms of scene stealing. Quite right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm dgg:

If failure fails in a forest, and everyone fails to hear it, is it still a failure?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...ooo - nodded off...which the true Music heads know - can be a high compliment...
Avatar 4:39pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm chris:

great tunes, mr. failure! grazie, Fabio!

  5:15pm Honolulu pat:

Fabio should tell everyone that ufos are real
  5:20pm Fredericks:

Pretty sure I have this recording from a Negativland offshoot. It was used in the U2 Casey Kasem piece, I believe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm common:

what's up, fabio and all?
  5:23pm melinda:

Nice sounds.
  5:30pm pat:

fabio went to woodstock
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm dgg:

failure through strength
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...you mean you weren't wunna them nekkid toddlers tinkering w/ the drumset in that photo?...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm dgg:

failure through public admissions of sincere belief in things which are commonly the subject of derision
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm common:

yes we do. but i will miss your banter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm Linda Lee:

they're still talkin about the woodstock festival up here. original site is an entertainment complex with museum.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm dgg:

ooh fab and clay together for a full show should be really great actually
Avatar 5:38pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Maurizio Abate pre-clickie'd for convenience...
Avatar 5:41pm geezerette:

this is giving me an ice cream headache.
  5:42pm pat:

fabio probably went to EDC las vegas then
