Howdy Jeff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03am Aitch:

When I hear Therese on before you, sounds like Colleen from EVR?
  12:03am Erik in Michigan:

Happy to be live with the avant ghetto dwellers tonight (at least for a bit). Thanks for the music, Jeff!
  12:06am bbb:

Hi Jeff and everyone! Just popped in to say hello. Will be listening but not able to comment. Off to a great start...
Avatar 12:11am Jennifer_PNW:

Evening, y'all
Avatar 12:12am Hagbard Celine:

howdy all
Avatar 12:20am Jeff Conklin:

Morning, everybody.
  12:22am Erik in Michigan:

Nice jam here
Avatar 12:30am herb.nyc:

v cool songs; I've never heard any of them before. Thx for playing them, Jeff.
Avatar 12:34am Jeff Conklin:

@herb.nyc: That's why they pay me the big bucks ;) Thanks for checking in.
  12:34am Erik in Michigan:

Avatar 12:39am Jennifer_PNW:

Good one
  12:40am Jay Wolf:

What album is this from?
  12:42am Erik in Michigan:

I believe this is from a live recording - no official release
Avatar 12:42am Jeff Conklin:

@Jay: This is a live version from '73. Technically never laid down in the studio, first appeared on Europe 72
Avatar 12:45am herb.nyc:

re big Bucks, I've already sent in my pre-marathon pledge. wfmu can now raise all the djs' salaries (except for those capitalist 6-9am m-f djs)
Avatar 12:48am Hagbard Celine:

sounds like this would have been a great dead show to see
  12:50am evita:

I don't even dig the Dead, but this sounds pretty sweet.
Avatar 12:54am Jeff Conklin:

@evita: Well you do now
  12:58am evita:

@Jeff My mother will be so pleased.
Avatar 1:06am Jeff Conklin:

That's what this show is all about really
  1:07am sufferwords:

thanks for backing up my weed high in stormy L.A. - the long hair shit from the 70's was toasty
  1:08am gordond:

Always love hearing some new stuff to support
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23am Guido from Cologne:

Hello Jeff!
Enjoying during breakfast.
  1:25am ?:

Hey everyone :-)
  1:26am Ocean:

Hey again. Just learning this comment board :-)
Avatar 1:28am Hagbard Celine:

been wondering how this ash & herb sounds- need to grab this one too
Avatar 1:33am Jeff Conklin:

Hey Guido, Ocean

@Hagbard: Yeah it's cool! Looks like only 99 copies made: mvandee.blogspot.com...
  1:34am Brent.:

Never did a song sound more like its title. (Trippin' Together.)
Avatar 1:35am Jennifer_PNW:

How's the rest of this comp?
Avatar 1:37am Jeff Conklin:

What up, Brent

@Jen: The highs are really high, the lows are abyssmal. The former outnumbers the latter fortunately
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38am pacific standard simon:

Hooray, I don't have to work during your show this week!
Avatar 1:44am ocean:

This is awesome
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44am pacific standard simon:

I''ve been playing a lot of Dead boots lately. Downloaded some faves before the band shut off downloading at the Internet Archive. My personal cut-off is around '74.
Avatar 1:50am Jeff Conklin:

@Pacific: Nice! I came into 500 tapes from a taper/trader a couple weeks back. I used to be a 69-74 snob but I've gotten way more into 80s and 90s the last few years. Acquired taste
Avatar 1:50am Jennifer_PNW:

@simon: when did the band shut down downloading at the Internet Archive?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50am pacific standard simon:

Probably the same cut-off for a lot of stuff, including John McLaughlin and Amon Duul II. :-)
Avatar 1:53am Jeff Conklin:

You can no longer (easily) download soundboard recordings from the Archive. Audience recordings are still allowable to be downloaded.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53am pacific standard simon:

@Jennifer_PNW - Gee, I don't remember exactly. Must have been more than five but less than ten years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55am pacific standard simon:

Ah yes, I was never a big fan of audience recordings...
Avatar 1:56am Jennifer_PNW:

@Simon: That's not very Dead-like
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57am Fox (Rā-chul):

Halloo. I've been listening since the Grateful Dead, but I had a cat on my lap so I couldn't pop online and say hello unti now.

Avatar 1:59am Jennifer_PNW:

@Fox: Welcome. I'm usually in the same predicament.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00am pacific standard simon:

@Jennifer_PNW - Depends. The audience recordings got very good in later years, but were terrible in the early years, and I still am pretty much a "69-74 snob", as Jeff puts it.
2:03am dave from outside Ryley Walker:

Another ridiculously great show here, Jeff. And thanks for the Fall 73 Dead, NICE to hear. You're so right about Weir.
Btw, plenty of soundboards still out there for the downloading guys, you just gotta look around.
Avatar 2:04am Jennifer_PNW:

@Simon : Me too. I'm warming up though. Jeff recommended a show the other day, 3/28/86 (set II), that made me reconsider my snobbery.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04am pacific standard simon:

"Winchester Cathedraaal, you're bringing me dooown..."
Avatar 2:11am Jeff Conklin:

@dave: Hey, man! Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15am pacific standard simon:

My all-time favorite Dead show is the benefit they did for Ken Kesey's brother's dairy farm. '73 or '74, I forget. I grew up listening to Dead live shows on KSAN San Francisco.
Avatar 2:17am Jeff Conklin:

That's 8/27/72
Avatar 2:19am Jennifer_PNW:

Picked up a copy of that show from my library, the video was fantastic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22am ! I X Key !:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26am pacific standard simon:

Ah, right you are. My memory is crap.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28am pacific standard simon:

Never did care for "Black Throated Wind". or Donna Jean, though.
Avatar 2:29am Jennifer_PNW:

@Simon: I also have a hard time with Donna
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32am pacific standard simon:

Post-Skip Spence Moby Grape is a thing I've been getting into lately.
  2:35am Juan:

i look forward to this show so much every weekend, late Sunday nights used to be more of a musical bummer on the radio, but now they are special. The only bummer is that three hours fly by too fast when you're having fun.
  2:37am TheNinthChild:

Moby Grape! So Fucking great Jeff, Thanks!
2:46am dave from outside Ryley Walker:

@simon & @jennifer: I'll put up with Donna to get Keith. I love how 77-79 just disappeared in the snob/not snob distinction. Nothing much there, true
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49am pacific standard simon:

"put up with" is pretty much my attitude, too.
  2:58am dave:

Really crazy great show Jeff, thanks again
Avatar 2:59am ocean:

Beautiful playlist @Jeff. Thanks to @Jennifer for introducing me to this show. Glad to be a new llistener.
  2:38pm Sunset Diver:

My favorite version of "He's Gone"!
