I always imagine Irwin playing the drums on this.
Hello, Irwin, and Chusidites.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm psysci:

i dont think i heard that mmw album. have been out of the loop with them, used to go to their shows back when they did Tonic
  3:24pm berbo:

Will there be crumpets? I can't wait to find out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Irwin:

Thanks to rrg for this version of Caravan.
  3:35pm Brendan:

Any musicians have feel for what time signature Caravan was in? That one had a nice lilt to it.
Avatar 3:39pm Undead83:

Great show \o/

Radiator still in E. Orange too, so it must be cold on Montgomery St.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm Carmichael:

Heya Irwin, I met a guy in a bar last night that has your Key of Z books and raved about them. He was shocked that I knew all of the artists he was mentioning. I was shocked, too. Small world, especially out here in broken dam land.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Irwin:

Carm: Thanks for conveying. There's actually only one Key of Z book, never got around to volume 2. You wanna tackle it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Carmichael:

Hmmm ... <thinking>
  3:59pm Listener Robert:

Say...do you ever ID the Rockland Co. xltr as "W220[letter][letter]"?

Tom Cochrane & Red Rider
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm rsj:

this is the best one, if it s the one I think it is
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm Irwin:

Oh, this is an incredible episode.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm rsj:

yes, that's the one. the mentor of swagart is a well known comedian, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm Irwin:

It's David Cross.
Avatar 4:15pm βrian:

That guitar riff: like the sway of a rail car.
Avatar 4:17pm Nick S.:

Do Jews eat bagels?
Avatar 4:19pm ottovonbqe:

who is this guy with "twice the information"?
Avatar 4:20pm ottovonbqe:

Yes, Jews eat bagels. But not cinnamon raisin I heard.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:20pm Tommy in Neversink:

What's a bagel
  4:22pm Brendan:

He a
Avatar 4:23pm βrian:

Can you hold on? I need to pause for effect.
Avatar 4:23pm ottovonbqe:

Ha, Joe is such a pimp.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm Irwin:

It isn't an "Everything" bagel if it doesn't contain bacon, and if it contains bacon, it ain't a bagel.
  4:24pm Brendan:

Joe needs to stop interrupting him by answering his rhetorical questions. And he needs to stop asking them. Still its funny.
Avatar 4:25pm βrian:

Yes, it's just bacon, really.
Avatar 4:26pm βrian:

I've wired that guitar riff into the pneumatic dampener of my office chair and am now enjoying the ride.
Avatar 4:28pm Nick S.:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm melinda:

I like this episode
  4:32pm blaumann:

Talk about a sick, ignorant mind
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm Tommy in Neversink:

Being from the south , I didn't have a bagel until I moved to NYC at age 23. I wasn't very impressed but the other NYC food offerings more than made up for that
  4:36pm Listener Robert:

It's W220EG. Some xltrs do identify by sign, when their primary station includes them in a list. I used to listen to W276AQ, Ft. Lee (I used to imagine their radiator as on the NJ-side tower of the GWB) when they were Jukebox Radio, and they were effectively the primary station, their legal primary being someplace in northern NJ with much less coverage than the xltr, and they did ID by their xltr call sign. But most just ID xltrs the same as you do, "...and in Rockland County on 91.9."
  4:40pm βrian:

This apartment is quite rheumy.
  4:46pm Demian:

I'm new to this station / app can someone explain the structure to me?

Is it a continual stream of spoken dialogue with music, is this a show, does it edit pre existing interviews?
  4:50pm sistwr:

i think this is just one 'song'. it's just really long
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm Irwin:

Demian: It's a show. It's Joe.
  4:52pm Listener Robert:

Baboons are the answer?
Avatar 4:52pm steve:

wait so there's no such thing as an everything bagel then?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Michael 98145:

nope - only you can make yourself one with everything
  4:55pm berbo:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Faith & Existentialism Theatre. Is it a touch racist? If Joe wasn't happy to show everyone including himself as foolish...& writing both parts w/ some identification anyhow...hm...
  4:59pm Dean:

Well, well. Plonsey is playing a local bar in town next month with Fred Frith.
Avatar 5:01pm βrian:

Well, that was fun. Thanks, Irwin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...so - double royalty payments this tune?...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm melinda:

dinka dinka a dink
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Said that DMT & NearDeath are related - if so, might not be as productive for Music as LSD were on this evidence...tho' succinct like DMT is quick maybe...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm Irwin:

RRN63: Legally, no, because they only recorded one composition. You can't copyright an arrangement of a copyrighted tune (altho the publisher of the copyrighted tune can claim it).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm Irwin:

This DC4C song is one of the better tunes about stalking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Interesting. I know you can't ©opywright song titles - but the lyrics...'kay.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Oh - it's the lyrics they pay for - not the chords & such. Got it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm Irwin:

The lyrics and melody were from "Very Good Year." The rhythm and instrumental arrangement were "White Rabbit." The credited composition is the former, not the latter.
  5:24pm jan:

Loving this Voyage!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Right. Cheers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm Irwin:

Violin and computer, Jan.
Avatar 5:35pm Parq:

Pretty much every Spoonful hit makes me smile -- hey, I'm only human -- but I especially love the "ooh la" roll-out on "Mystery".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- sounds like trying to go BrianWilson on it ? - not quite there & not the one they chose - tho' Parq is correct of course.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm melinda:

This is a great MF album.
  5:45pm Dennis Diken:

great show Irwin. the sound at the top of "Mystery" is a heavily-reverbed Marxophone. see John S play it on an Ed Sullivan Spoonul performance of the song on youtube. the outro vocals are a round of "the more I, more I, more I see, the more I see there is to see" against another round of "she's a mystery to me"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm Irwin:

Wow, thanks for the technical details, Dennis. It's a fascinating sound and adds so much to the arrangement.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm Irwin:

It, R.I.P.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Been trying to track a MF~Merritt tune - I'm pretty sure - I heard in a store: very plaintive w/ oboe - thot I saw the 'Bus' CD in the stack so on there? Hope it's good as I think when I find it...
Avatar 5:54pm Parq:

Oh wow, Motherrage! What a nostalgic moment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- neat-o.
Avatar 5:57pm Parq:

Gotta love the overdub on the last verse.

Great to have Mr. Diken available for input here.
