Tortellini Day. Interesting. In Argentina, the 29th of every month is Dia de Ñoquis (Day of the Gnocchi) . The story is that the 29th was just before payday and money being tight there's only potatoes and flour around. I guess in February its especially rough.

I keep a large plastic coffee container on my kitchen counter, I spray painted it a nice green. I cook a lot, so I throw the veggie scraps, tea bags and coffee grounds into the containerr and every few days I empty this little container into the big compost bin in our yard where it will age for a year or so. We've already used last years compost in our soil this weekend- since the weather was so warm we rototilled.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52am braveness23:

Mrs 23 and I compost like crazy. She's an organic farmer so she is kind of an authority on composting. We keep chickens so our compost is nuts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53am melinda:

@dale: I do compost meat scraps, since it is allowed by the service I use. I guess their operation is large enough they can compost meat and bones properly, but I don't put them in my yard pile.

@lloyd: From SoftMachine to Jimi isn't far - now I wanna know which trax have TheCake!...
A LeeHazelwood song 'RunBoyRun' - wish TheClash had done it!...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35am dale:

what was his one hit - 'good morning?' one with the video that looks like an uncle remus movie.
  11:35am Listener Alexandra:

Al Jarreau's "Take Five" is pretty classic. And top of the morning to you, Joe!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:36am Ken From Hyde Park:

I know "We're in This Love Together" from Al Jarreau.
  11:36am Dean:

"Thinkin' About It, Too," the opening track on All Fly Home, is sublime pop/jazz. The entire double-live album is great. Maybe "We Got By," which closes it. His covers on All Fly Home are lovely, too.
Avatar 11:37am BEAVO:

His version of Spain by Chick Corea is great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Not too weird for Lee - more typical FolkDepressive. Love his stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am dale:

ruh roh - 90.1 signal just had a mometary brain fart
  11:37am Dean:

...although one of those covers is a Kenny Loggins hit.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:39am Brian in UK:

Is there any Will Rogers material on record?
  11:39am cheri:

@rrn63 maybe you could still go to amazon.com and order the cake cd.
Avatar 🎸 11:39am pantz:

Thanks for the Palace, Joe. Will Oldham is from my hometown.
  11:39am Listener Robert:

I noticed too, Dale. Off for less than a minute, then slowly brought power back up. I'm guessing that's some automated fx, and that now it's running on emergency something-or-other,

Wooohooo, it's Bongo Joe McGasko on the wheels of steel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

EZ WebSearch not helping learn which Jimi trax they're on...oh well...

Better steal from some other fund to make sure WMFU's up at the beginning of the marathon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am dale:

power was out where i am when i woke up. lot's of slippery roads and icing up here.
Avatar 11:42am MenfussMike:

Diggin this Boondoggle but it sounds like it might be the gem in a turd of an album. Anyone heard the whole album?
Avatar 11:42am Joe McG:

@Menfuss: I have, Mike, and I think it's all pretty good!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:42am Wendy del Formaggio:

Hi Joe! I don't have anything interesting to say other than "Hi!" and "I'm glad I can tune in for a teensy bit."

Hope Drumpf's FCC lackey doesn't end NetNeutrality & toss the whole online enterprise...
  11:43am Listener Robert:

I didn't think about that, Dale. Yesterday my fear had been of losing juice here. but all that happened was some icy branches, not heavy enough to make a hole, bouncing off the roof last night. So yeah, hoping it's as you say, external to WMFU.
  11:44am Brendan:

The Smooth Jazz /Soft Office Rock era scared me from ever getting close to Al's music. Was afraid it would be a gateway drug so I kept it at arms length. Well actually thats not true. I think it was the gag reflux.
  11:45am Listener Robert:

END net neutrality, Rabbit? To my knowledge that hasn't been FCC policy anyway, just the threat of it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am dale:

i had the poster of tanya wearing the tight red spakly jumpsuit. it was a music magazine insert. she was smoking. what she smoked we'd have to ask glen campbell.
  11:46am Listener Robert:

Like, I think a majority of commissioners were for it, but an injunction was gotten against it.

Well, okay, thanks, Joe! My new show, "Choose Your Own Adventure," will begin on March 1 and will air every Wednesday from 3-5pm on 91.5FM WOOL Black Sheep Radio in Bellows Falls, VT. You can stream it at blacksheepradio.org. I'd love to have y'all stop by!
  11:48am Dean:

I hear you, @Brendan. I had the same problem, but constant exposure at a record store job in the late '70s helped me learn to enjoy it selectively. And nobody would dispute that Al Jarreau's voice and delivery were distinctive, like him or not.
Avatar 11:49am Joe McG:

I saw some Al Jarreau in our Basement Library last week, but alas, I don't have time enough to run down and get it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am melinda:

Michael Hurley, yay
  11:51am Listener Robert:

Yay, Cheesy Wendy! Best Wishes on it. Maybe some time I'll get on NewtRadio.

  11:52am Dean:

@Joe McG.: That Lou Bond did the trick!

That's why you need library staff on hand, along with those big-ass pneumatic delivery tubes.
