I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

hi Rev
  12:52pm Lyle:

Monâjât Yultchieva, hadn't heard that name in a while. I remember sharing a stage with him circa '77 when he was playing 2nd Xylophone for Starbuck. He was such a peppy player, always rushing the tempo a little bit, but at the same time pushing his bandmates forward into uncharted waters. I distinctly recall that he had each tone-bar on his xylophone painted in contrasting day-glo colors. He also used thick wooden forks as opposed to yarn mallets, which gave his playing a crisp, staccato efficiency. I was playing trombone for Foghat at that time, which gave me limited stage exposure. I was mainly called upon to play an extended solo during Slow Ride and to accent specific moments of Foghats music where a little trombone pulsation could add the extra zing they needed to push them over the top. I never sawMonâjât much after that. I miss him sometimes.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Steppenwolf:

Foghat was such generic 70s band , I didn't like or dis like them ..they were just there
Avatar 1:00pm Chris from DC:

They were much less generic when they added the oud player though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Clïff in Prägůe:

Their genericity is why All Roads Lead to Foghat
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Clïff in Prägůe:

It's like being at the bottom of a gravity well
  1:02pm Lyle:

That oud player was quirky. I remember him! We drank a few bottles of Lancer's Rose together one night and must have smoked a couple packs of Vantages. Great guy! Forget his name.
Avatar 1:03pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

whoa. This Torât bar Musâ thing is stunning.
Avatar 1:03pm themutante:

Is this the transition point? This sounds like Gaelic music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm sphere:

Avatar 1:11pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Qawwali material always sounds like it needs to go on without a break for several hours. No idea how it's done traditionally, only heard records, but THIS HERE could go for a day & I'd be FINE widdat.

#noban #nowall I use Nusrat "allah-hoo" for my iphone alarm sound. great wakeup music. i wanted to change it to my ringtone, but iTunes, grrr, iPhone, grrr, doesn't allow. not that anyone ever calls me, but if they did it would be good to hear it ringing out in public.

Avatar 1:32pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

occasionally the brain sneaks behind the voices & focuses on the reedy monotone, & then schnizzit goes FOOF. Clicky.
  1:35pm Mark:

In this political climate, there is probably no more "rebelious" music than what you're playing today. I would love to see it become the new rock 'n' roll for today's youth.

lovely show, Bryce -- THANK YOU!
@ Rev. Turnip Druid @ 1:11 -- i agree! (and, my cats are not snoring but thoroughly digging it in their feline meditative, purring manner)
@ stefica -- MUST check that out! i would love to have Allah Hoo as my ring tone too -- and i would totally call you, esp. when you are in a public place
(i am recalling a World Music Institute event years ago: the Qawwali ensemble performing went into "Allah Hoo" and the crowd -- already in this fantastic blissed out *frenzy* -- went nuts! dancing, singing/chanting along -- PURE JOY!)
Avatar 1:48pm Whooda:

Recent NPR report that reggae and soft rock are comforting to kennelled dogs, while heavy metal (and probably Country music) are bad. DUH! I bet they didn't even try this 'screaming cats' Turkish stuff..

Funny thing about that music-&-pets thing... Old Man Gomez doesn't like obvious harsh noise & such, but is a huge fan of certain metal: Motörhead & Absu, he clearly LOVES. I've repeated the experiment numerous times. It's hilarious.

@Stranded Mahwah? Are you sure that smoke isn't from all the refineries in Rawhal and not your car? Seriously, if it's not making knocking sounds, it's probably a valve seal....smoke but not serious damage or worry. Those can be replaced without removing the head.
