Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Cliff in Prague:

The chick from Wayne's World?!
Avatar 12:06pm MenfussMike:

is this seriously the babe from Waynes World? It kinda sounds like Carlton Melton
Avatar 12:06pm Chris M.:

yeah after her band covered Ballroom Blitz this was their follow up single
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm Stanley:

Menfuss - you said it, Carlton Melton
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Dave in Vermont:

  12:07pm Chucktown Dan:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Cliff in Prague:

She's pretty good with that guitar huh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Greg from ZONE 5:

Let's not forget her dramatic turn in "Showdown in Little Tokyo"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Carmichael:

Hiya Chris, are you depping for Charlie? Or is this a hostile takeover?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Ken From Hyde Park:

No way!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Priscilla:

Carrere = actress, Carrera = guitarist
Avatar 12:10pm Chris M.:

@Priscilla: every time i've ever played or mentioned this band i have to explain this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Cliff in Prague:

It's fun to play stupid
Avatar 12:12pm Whooda:

Very cool DJ Imaginary Radio with Chris M.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Greg from ZONE 5:

Reminds me of my old band Kathy Ireland.
Avatar 12:14pm MenfussMike:

Avatar 12:14pm MenfussMike:

The Beau Dereks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Rich in Washington:

but for a fleeting moment, I imagined the actor Tia Carrera being this kickass guitarist. It was delightful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Greg from ZONE 5:

Avatar 12:15pm Chris M.:

@Greg from ZONE 5: "Kathy Ireland is a thoughtful blend of old school hip hop and modeling." - wikipedia
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Carmichael:

Did you play that Sinatra, Chris? Or was that stream slippage?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Greg from ZONE 5:

That almost caused me to choke on my apple.
  12:18pm Polyus:

Btw, Mike from Yob had emergency surgery for diverticulitis this week. Apparently out of the woods now, but he was in a bad way and could have died if he hadn't gone to the hospital when he did. Yeesh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm coelacanth∅:

this shit rules!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm SeanG:

ahhhh 2007
Avatar 12:19pm Chris M.:

@Carmichael: it wasn't me
@Polyus: hope he gets well soon
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm Carmichael:

Jesus, I'm on a different page than the stream .... Rookie mistake for a veteran ....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Aaron in Minneapolis:

Avatar 12:24pm Chris M.:

thank you, Aaron. geez
Avatar 12:25pm Whooda:

The factory Beats sound system in my laptop has completely proven what trashy junk Beats laptop sound system is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Gee, I forgot the cool part of 2007. Thanks for the reminder, Chris M.
  12:25pm chillin like a villain:

Tia Carrera:

Vs Tia Carrere:
Avatar 12:26pm Chris M.:

there was a ton of great music released in 2007 so stay tuned!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm Aaron in Minneapolis:

Ken in HP I have a question, do you do ANYTHING else besides listen to WFMU?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm crateslinger:

Everybody was smoking tons of weed in 2007
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Cliff in Prague:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Aaron in Minneapolis:

Not that theres anything wrong with that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm psysci:

when is tons of weed not being smoked
Avatar 12:32pm Undead83:

Great tunes over here
Avatar 12:32pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

KILL MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeee.........
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm crateslinger:

I don't know but they were smoking tons of it in 2007
  12:32pm Agent Peter:

It's like traveling in a giant time machine!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Greg from ZONE 5:

Avatar 12:34pm Cecile:

I love this song.
Avatar 12:35pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Huge fan of the early Six Organs stuff but this was a great one.
Avatar 12:36pm Cecile:

Porcupine Tree Fear of A Blank Planet
Avatar 12:36pm Cecile:

Avatar 12:37pm fred:

Hello Chris and all. 2007 is when I started at my current job. Not sure I like figuring this out
Avatar 12:37pm Cecile:

Grace Kelly by Mika.

You're OK, Fred. 1991 is when I started at mine.
  12:38pm Mark Williams:

I remember the impossibly silly negative review this SOA record received in Pitchfork at the time. It was essentially saying the direction Chasny was headed in with this was antithetical to the SOA mission. Apostasy, if you will. With fans like that..., etc.
Avatar 12:38pm fred:

@RTD: I'm going to see the Joke Lanz / Jonas Kocher duo tonight
Avatar 12:39pm Cecile:

Mark Williams, I didn't get it. It was a beautiful record.
Avatar 12:39pm Whooda:

Thanks for the short reality reprieve DJ Chris M. Now must leave and pretend it's not ten years after.
  12:39pm Mark Williams:

@Cecile. Couldn't agree more.
Avatar 12:39pm Chris M.:

it's almost like pitchfork has never known what they were talking about this whole time
  12:41pm Mark Williams:

@Chris - well, it was a particular reviewer who was a died-in-the-wool SOA fan of old. Didn't want Chasny making "songs" as such, if I'm remembering him correctly (or in essence).
Avatar 12:41pm V Priceless:

Hey! New rare streaming Upper Crust track just released: "I, Diarrhea Fiend"! Explosive! theuppercrust.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm Fox (Rā-chul):

Good morning everyone.
Avatar 12:42pm Cecile:

Which was dumb, because Chasny had great songs on there, and he did plenty more raga jams after.
Avatar 12:43pm Cecile:

Pig Destroyer! Phantom Limb!
Avatar 12:43pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Caught Six Organs & Kohoutek at a small venue outside DC around that time -- perfect bill.
Avatar 12:44pm fred:

I wish Afrirampo would tour over here and release a new record. I love this band
Avatar 12:47pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

OM! ... that was the other favorite show that year; Om/Grails/Jack Rose. Mind-effing-blowing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Fox (Rā-chul):

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Cliff in Prague:

I think I saw Mono with World's End Girlfriend and Grails around that time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm Cliff in Prague:

And I even posted about it on Livejournal
Avatar 12:57pm Cecile:

I have to listen to that!
Avatar 1:04pm Cecile:

I like this Astarte.
Avatar 1:05pm Chris M.:

Apr 27: 1977
May 25: 1967 maybe
Jun 29: 1957 not likely
Avatar 1:07pm Cecile:

I will have a ton for 1987 if you want my input.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Cliff in Prague:

There were so many thrash metal classics that came out in '57 though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm tallbuildings:

Avatar 1:08pm Chris M.:

@Cecile: i've got it covered but thanks
Avatar 1:09pm Cecile:

there was some great r'n'b and jazz in '57
Avatar 1:09pm Cecile:

you know I'm just going to list a bunch of records in the comments anyway, so this was an offer of a preemptive strike.
Avatar 1:10pm Cecile:

Avatar 1:10pm Cecile:

every time I play this disc, I gotta play air double kick drums.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Cliff in Prague:

I loved all the free jazz on the '66 show last year
Avatar 1:11pm Chris M.:

thanks Cliff!
  1:20pm Polyus:

Here is a band I just don't hear enough on the Fun 91.
Avatar 1:23pm Cecile:

what if Nick Cave and Cher had a baby and decided to reunite the Scientists? That's what this sounds like - awesome
  1:25pm Brendan:

Jumpin in the stream late . I'll catch up though by paddling faster . I hear banjos .
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Hey Chris and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Patrick:

Damn Chris, this show is a cathartic trip down memory lane for me. loving it! thank you!
  1:33pm skintunes:

some nasty glitch. That's what I needed after lunch yeah bud
Avatar 1:39pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

  1:40pm Brendan:

What the funk
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm psysci:

haha nice. i love this track. vibert is lush
  1:57pm Brendan:

If i had it to do over, I'd go back to 2007. I'd rearrange the furniture. Especially that sofa. I've always regretted that move.
  1:59pm adam:

what was on behind the DJ talk prior to gucci? thanks
Avatar 1:59pm Chris M.:

@Brendan: it's like they always say in those DeBeers commercials: "Sofas Are Forever"
Avatar 1:59pm Cecile:

I should have gone back to school then instead of waiting 5 more years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Bronwyn Bishop:

oh god i remember the bird flu nonsense
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Bronwyn Bishop:

it was being referred to as the avian flu and somehow my friend and i got it into our heads that it was called the "asian chicken flu"
Avatar 2:02pm Chris M.:

@Bronwyn Bishop: sounds delicious
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm crateslinger:

I should have shorted the housing market.
  2:05pm ?:

@ Chris True that, brother. A friend told me I could just move the sofa now, but maybe that would upset a decade of feng shui. I'll let it ride.
  2:07pm Greg:

2007 the year i graduated high school, bringin me back
Avatar 2:07pm Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm Bronwyn Bishop:

it was 7th grade for me. this sounds like the music the other kids listened to but i didn't because i wasn't cool and listened to show tunes and the monks all the time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm Bronwyn Bishop:

the monkees, not the monks. i wish i was cool enough to have listened to the monks in 7th grade.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm Cliff in Prague:

If I Had A Time Machine, I would've told my lazy grad school ass to finish up and get out before 2009, cuz the job market's gonna suck so bad that year
  2:13pm Cooh John:

Rachel Nagy....rrrrroooorrr
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Ike:

Yeah, I was about to say, a 7th grader listening to the Monks would be one bad-ass 7th grader. I was probably listening to nothing cooler than Young MC in 7th grade.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Cliff in Prague:

Shakespeares Sister & MC Hammer were the big hits when I was in 7th grade
Avatar 2:16pm Cecile:

Young MC is cool. I was listening to crappy ice skating music because I lived at the rink in 7-8th grade
Avatar 2:17pm Cecile:

I might have listened to my 3 Dog Night and mom's Carpenters 8 tracks, but I think I was spiraling into depression at that time.
  2:18pm Polyus:

forgot about Todd.
  2:20pm Brendan:

I was in Grade 7 for a number of years so my tastes ran the spectrum from Hanson to free improv post modernist jazz
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Sebastian:

Great show Chris, thank you!
  2:21pm Onion:

Tejas! Bam!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm Cliff in Prague:

Brendan was that scary 15-year-old with an entourage always hanging out in the back of 7th grade homeroom
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm Andrew Waterloo:

Probably Metallica, Rush, Faith No More, Iron Maiden, hair metal.
Avatar 2:24pm Cecile:

I am so fucking old.
Avatar 2:26pm Cecile:

I met the excellent Italian greyhound two times. Someone told me he had passed. I am sad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Sebastian:

Shellac, oh man, this is 10 years old?
  2:26pm Brendan:

@cliff 'was' ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Cliff in Prague:

In 7th grade my substitute math teacher, who was from Ireland, gave me a taped copy of U2's Achtung Baby. She was awesome.
Avatar 2:28pm βrian:

Well, you can't stay 15 forever.

Though the Bloviator in Chief is making a good go of it ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm Cliff in Prague:

Brendan dude can I bum a smoke off you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm psysci:

This song should be called, "my facebook feed"
  2:34pm Brendan:

Stay way from me kid . The surgeon general has determined that I'm bad for your future.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Andrew Waterloo:

  2:38pm skintune:

drop Deeeeeeeee.... .
  2:41pm Brendan:

@Cecile only 20 mins left . Guess we wont be hearing Anesthetize from FOABP. Dangit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Scraps:

i like the shows that are organizized by date. Makes my organizized brain happy, and my historazized brain also.
Avatar 2:52pm Cecile:

oh, well, Brendan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Ike:

Avatar 2:55pm Undead83:

Great show \o/
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Cliff in Prague:

Thank you Chris & all former and current 7th graders
  2:59pm Brendan:

@M , thanks for the trip back to 007
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm Ike:

Ha ha ha ha ha, poor Fabio. Though it would've been funnier if you'd said Clay Pidge was going to play something absurdly highfalutin. Or just something good, but that's probably way too far-fetched. ;P
