Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, all. I had a hunch that I had clicky-starred that Magazine track. Turns out is was the album version and not the 7".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23pm efd:

Magazine should always be clicky-starred!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm Ken From Hyde Park:

RIP Overend and also Butch Trucks of the Allman Brothers Band.
  9:29pm Larry:

This set is so reminding me of the 70s: rock's best era. Good stuff--thank you so much, Evan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm SJ Taper:

Gil Ray from Game Theory just passed away also.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm efd:

on it, sadly. :(
  9:58pm chuckles teh clown:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01pm efd:

i'm gonna pass on that, chuckles... time to move on to the living after this last game theory song. But anyone who wants to hear it can do so via the handy url that you provided!
Avatar 10:02pm coelacanth:

...and Harry Mathews, the author. (of whom i know nothing)...rest in peace, y'all.

Hi all
  10:12pm Stevel:

God I love that Deep Blue voice, and the entire package!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm efd:

me too, Steve! Hi Melinda!
  10:22pm melinda:

Family scraps is a great name
  10:22pm V Priceless:

Hey efd and gang!
  10:23pm Stevel:

Lots of great music out there. Reassuring, to me, at least.
  10:24pm Stevel:

Speaking of... waaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh. Liminianas.

Mercy! (No mercy. )
  10:30pm dano59:

@efd i love the comment but is tat 1/1/80 release verifiable? Or a Discogs default?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm efd:

@dano59, it's printed on the LP jacket
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm Figgsrock:

This Douglas Holmquist makes me want to watch Knight Rider all of sudden.
  10:37pm Stevel:

Figgsrock: Yes!

Can Gap Dream be far behind?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm efd:

definitely has that '80s TV show theme vibe! And I mean that as a compliment!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm Figgsrock:

So do I. That show hasn't held up, but that theme sure has.
Avatar 10:48pm geezerette:

Scratching that itch. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm Stevel:

Its a mover. Gave up controlling my shoulders. Gonna freak the dogs out when I start to move around. We'll see how it goes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm Uncle Michael:

everybody be dancin'
Avatar 10:53pm Erella:

I love it when you play the Hidden Cameras! They are so great live!
Avatar 10:54pm Hoboken Jack:

Not that i am Bongos obsessed, but each time the Bros. Johnson said "Be yourself," I heard "Beat Hotel."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm efd:

Jack, I think you might need to just admit that you're maybe a teeny bit Bongos-obsessed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58pm Uncle Michael:

I really am.
  11:00pm Figgsrock:

I'm pretty sure I just woke up my downstairs neighbor laughing to "I really should know my Johnsons."
Avatar 11:02pm Hoboken Jack:

First step is admitting I have a problem. BTW, discogs.com indeed lists Louis Johnson playing bass on Thriller.
  11:02pm Marc15:

I follow you on Twitter
Avatar 11:04pm Hoboken Jack:

Please don't tell Richard Barone how much i love "The Bedazzler."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm efd:

thank you, Marc.

And thank you, Figgsrock.
  11:04pm Figgsrock:

And EFD, I have this Stag single on my to order list after hearing it last week. What a killer song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm efd:

I've got the cure for what ails you coming up, Jack.
  11:05pm Steve:

What year is this tune from ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm efd:

  11:07pm Steve:

No way ! It sounds like it's from the 70's !
Avatar 11:07pm Hoboken Jack:

HA!!! thanks EFD
  11:08pm Steve:

Love this Bongos' version of River To River !
Avatar 11:08pm Hoboken Jack:

co-written by George Usher, of course
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10pm Uncle Michael:

I take my leave...thank you, Evan.
  11:10pm Stevel:

Lots of cool stuff with retro hooks, etc., tonight.
Avatar 11:12pm geezerette:

hooton tennis club!!! :D

  11:13pm Stevel:

Now I'm moving.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm Uncle Michael:

take me, I'm yours
  11:17pm Steve:

Theatre of Hate have a fab late 70's/early 80's vibe going for them on 'Westworld' !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm Scraps:

I'm sorry I missed the Game Theory / Loud Family set. "Regenisraen" is my favorite Game Theory song.
  11:18pm Steve:

Was Scott Miller in Game Theory?
  11:19pm Stevel:

UM: Any day of the week, baby.

What a great show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19pm Scraps:

Oh yes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm efd:

@Steve, he was indeed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm Scraps:

I mean, yes Scott Miller formed Loud Family after Game Theory. Their first album, Plants and Birds and Rocks and Things, was my favorite pop/rock album of 1993, and one of my three or four fav albums of the decade.
  11:25pm Steve:

Thanks EFD and Scaps. I remember Game Theory more than Loud Family. I thought it was the better band of the two.
  11:28pm quietlyartistic:

Bass players always get forgotten
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29pm Scraps:

Scott Miller remained an awesome songwriter; there are great songs on every Loud Family album, until his retirement and (damnit) death.
  11:29pm Stevel:

Crazy Horse-like vibe on the Escovedo tune. That's a good thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31pm efd:

@Steve, I'm pretty much in that same boat - somehow never caught up with the Loud Family when they were active and only went back and started listening when Scott Miller died. If you like Game Theory you'll like Loud Family too, I think.
  11:33pm Steve:

Never understood why Scott Miller took his own life at 53 ? Very sad. Thanks EFD. I'll have to check out Loud Family since we think the same on Game Theory.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34pm efd:

I got tricked by the fact that Scott McCaughey is playing bass on that Escovedo album! I forgot that Kurt Bloch is on guitar in that Minus 5 configuration.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35pm Scraps:

I don't know why he killed himself, but he was very open on the internet, and he was disappointed in his lack of success. He openly retired because of that.
  11:37pm Steve:

I bet that did it, Scraps
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39pm Scraps:

@Steve, I reiterate my enthusiasm for Plants and Birds and Rocks and Things. It's really great, and I would think any fan of Game Theory should give it a try.
  11:39pm Steve:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40pm efd:

I'll second Scraps' recommendation, for whatever that's worth.
  11:43pm Steve:

Thanks, EFD. You have good taste in music, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44pm Scraps:

He was awfully nice, too. I saw them several times. And he's a penetrating song critic. He had a weekly feature, also, called Ask Scott (I think), and he answered a great wide swath of topics, from pop songs to philosophy. He was awesome. Sigh...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45pm chris_in_space:

This current set is especially siiiick.
  11:46pm Steve:

What a waste of life in his taking his own. The World was better with Scott in it than without especially in light of what all you said that did and was as a person.
Avatar 11:47pm Doug Werewolf:

Good evening.
Avatar 11:50pm Hoboken Jack:

Eh, you hit the wrong button. SO WHAT
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm efd:

hallo Doug
Avatar 11:51pm Joe B:

looks like a great show. The Man is blocking from listening at work but in case you didn't mention it, Gil Ray was at FMU in 2000 playing drums for the Loud Family on Irene's show. pre-archives, unfortunately.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Enjoyed the last set. See you next time, efd.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54pm efd:

Playing a private rimshot in the studio just for you, Jack.

Joe, I think you or someone else mentioned that the Loud Family played here after Scott Miller died... such a shame it's not archived!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54pm efd:

...mentioned after Scott Miller died that the Loud Family had played here, to be clear.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58pm Scraps:

Thank you, efd!
