@djsheilab @Billy Jam: approval from my peers! The most important thing in this cold-hearted radio biz!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm adampsyche:

holler mungo jerry and andy animal from roxbury, ny!
Avatar 3:26pm Jeezy:

I'm a little surprised and disappointed to not hear the MONO verion of Hold Me Tight, Todd. :-/
George Martin would agree!
Avatar 3:27pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I say - for 1963 - these guitar & drum sounds chug along fairly Metallically...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Gaylord Fields:

Todd, I'm not too proud. I'll take that dedication anyway.
Avatar 3:30pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

WTB recorded on two tracks anyhow - vocals & instruments!
  3:31pm JakeGould:

Hey! “Almost Ready Records” is a new thing… At least as far as it being store is concerned, right? www.facebook.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm common:

todd, all
Avatar 3:34pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

@JakeGould: store is new, label has been around for a bit...they have a bunch of cool releases.
  3:34pm JakeGould:

FWIW, if anyone wants to take this idea please do: There is technically a “53rd and 3rd” in Brooklyn. The intersection exists under the BQE in Brooklyn. All things being equal, someone should open up a record store or venue right there. One block away from the R train. Just an idea!
  3:36pm Hoboken Jack:

In honor of today, I'd like to be Mungo Jack.

I'm glad he's a rocker too
Avatar 3:45pm Billy Jam:

@Gaylord LOL - at common, revrabbit, sheilaB, jakeGould + other FMU listeners wot up! @Todd meant to say to u when u mentioned u would be doing interview with Mungo Jerry if they/he/Ray Dorset ever got flack from critics, in later more recent PC years, over lyrics in their ubiquitous hit - such as the endorsement of drinking and driving or that one about "if her daddy's rich take her out for a meal. if her daddy's poor just do what you feel"
Avatar 3:47pm Marc Francis:

DAMN. Another cracker!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm Gaylord Fields:

@Billy Jam: Good question! And I'm sure he'll have a good reply that will put things in their proper perspective.
Avatar 3:48pm Mailman Tom:

Mungo Jerry played the Fillmore East. Could you ask him about it, please?
Avatar 3:49pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

If you'd told me 'Hipshake' was one of the good early Seger tracks, I'da believed it.
Avatar 3:51pm Billy Jam:

damn Todd - had forgotten that it was Mungo Jerry who did some of these 70's rock hit singles classics that I 've long loved like "Alright Alright Alright" - just looked Mungo Jerry up online and was reminded that they did "Long Legged Woman Dressed In Black" too - Loving this show so much =- and looking forward to interview
Avatar 3:52pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

Thanks Billy! Glad everyone is digging the tunes...underrated performer!
  3:53pm Claudialily:

Wooooo!!! This is making me wanna dance in the snow on the roof!!!
Avatar 3:53pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

@Claudialily: DON'T DO IT!!!
Avatar 3:56pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...& how did Brits get so downhome - like Funky 70s Skiffle? Makes me think of SlyStone almost - w/ the Pop element...answers shortly!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Gaylord Fields:

You can call him Ray...or you can call him Mungo...or you can call him Jerry...
