Hi, Mark. Thanks for putting this together. I'm probably going to fade out and rest pretty soon. Like you pointed out, lots of giants of the industry are going to be checking out in the upcoming years. No way around it.

greetings Mark Ken and whomever else may be running in circles

Greetings Ken and Coel!

Hello from UK. Just hanging out til I head off to work in about 20 minutes. Enjoying the Prince tribute. Never really listened to a lot of his stuff; although I did have Sign of the Times LP on heavy rotation back when it came out.
  Mon. 1/9/17 3:29am Mark R:

Sign o' the Times I thought was a somewhat overlooked album--really liked it (unfortunately not going to have time for it tonight, though!)

Good Morning, Mark R.
  Mon. 1/9/17 3:57am Mark R:

Morning, Joeray!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 1/9/17 4:01am joeray:

I was listening that morning to Therese and Circle Time!
  Mon. 1/9/17 4:09am Mark R:

It was a sad night, but I liked how it felt like a real community, too.
  Mon. 1/9/17 4:16am etm567:

So, and now how much money do you want from me? I cannot eat as it is, so I should surely pay you ...
  Mon. 1/9/17 4:17am Spot:

You're doing a great mix. I'm just hoping Rudy Van Gelder's name is at least mentioned. Not recognized as a musician, he engineered tons of classic jazz albums right there in New Jersey—Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Art Blakey, Sonny Rollins... just for starters. In my book, that counts big, big time. Keep it up, man!
  Mon. 1/9/17 4:17am Mark R:

I don't know, like $100. Get yourself some swag.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 1/9/17 4:59am Guido from Cologne:

Good morning Mark and belated happy new year wishes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 1/9/17 5:06am Guido from Cologne:

I actually bought "Revolver" a second time for thew mono version because I love the album so much but used to hate the block-stereo.

The mono breathes more.
I for instancecan hear, they put some extra room-sound on the voices. This plasticity gets completely lost in the rough stere.
So the mono appears "deeper", to my surprise.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 1/9/17 5:07am joeray:

Strawberry Fields Forever may have been the most creative work that George Martin did for the Beatles. By 1968 when mono was getting phased out, the mono recordings get weird including "The Beatles" (white album) in mono.
  Mon. 1/9/17 5:08am Mark R:

I think the White Album is where you should switch over to stereo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 1/9/17 5:09am joeray:

Yes, I agree!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 1/9/17 5:47am fred:

Thanks for playing this Pauline Oliveros track. The title is great and the music is even better
  Mon. 1/9/17 5:48am Mark R:

Yeah, I'm actually really digging it this a.m. I think WFMU has warped me forever!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 1/9/17 5:53am fred:

Despite all the popular tracks you played today, I think you just proved to Ken that you wouldn't be a good fit for a 6am show every day.
  Mon. 1/9/17 5:54am Mark R:

Ha! Oh well...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 1/9/17 5:55am northguineahills:

Nice stuff, Mark!
  Mon. 1/9/17 5:55am Mark R:

Glad you're enjoying it, northguineahills.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 1/9/17 5:57am Guido from Cologne:

I'm wondering if Pauline Oliveros actually did overdubs by de-activating the erase-head.
Looks logical to me.
from which year is this piece?
