Avatar 8:15pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:18pm Gaylord Fields:

Happy day two of Hanukkah @Jake Gould! Today I saw a menorah made out of bacon strips!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19pm Gaylord Fields:

@sugarwolf: No pie went into this cakehole! (But a small sliver of cake did!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19pm Gaylord Fields:

@Chop Scott: Happy holidays to you and yours! I'm happy you're here to spend time with us!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20pm Gaylord Fields:

@Fox (Rā-chul): Merry Christmas, my friend!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20pm Gaylord Fields:

@Webhamster Henry: The world needs more radio plays.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:21pm Gaylord Fields:

@Ken From Hyde Park: Keili's time in Japan has rendered her immune to megadosing wasabi.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22pm Gaylord Fields:

@Revolution Rabbit Nov63: Happy to clear the path with the WFMU machete.
Avatar 8:23pm Fox (Rā-chul):

If ANYONE EVER needs a voice actor for a radio play, CALL ME!!!!!

I wish WFMU had a show just for radio-plays.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:24pm Gaylord Fields:

@elsickdude: duck diesel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:24pm Uncle Michael:

That is a really terrific idea.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:24pm Gaylord Fields:

@Fox (Rā-chul): You have what it takes! Let's write one someday!
Avatar 8:24pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

'I read the news today oh boy'...Songwriting is more of a different thing than diddling an instrument than I think most realize...
@Fox: HeartyWhite is pretty close to it! amEdeo could riff pretty damn far too...
Avatar 8:29pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Clay Pigeon's original stuff is kinda brilliant too...even Musical...
Avatar 8:29pm geezerette:

WFMU Playhouse is a great idea, whoever said that.
Only if they're good like this though.
Avatar 8:29pm Fox (Rā-chul):

No, I mean, a show that plays pre-existing radio plays. Like Suspense, or Strange Tales, or The Man in Black!
Avatar 8:30pm cosmic matrix:

Love radio plays too and wanna do 'em. Special effects are fun. Hahaha whatabout Unshackled??
Avatar 8:31pm Fox (Rā-chul):

There's modern stuff too, like the amazingness of Big Finish Productions.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:32pm Chop Scott:

This is great Gaylord--I thank you!
  8:32pm sugarwolf:

Oh man, I just found out about George Michael. So sad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:33pm Gaylord Fields:

@cosmic matrix: I used to really enjoy Unshackled, even though I'm a heathen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:33pm Gaylord Fields:

@sugarwolf: I just broke the news to Therese without knowing I was breaking it to her.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm Gaylord Fields:

@Chop Scott: It's really good, isn't it? I'm glad you're enjoying it.
Avatar 8:34pm Linda Lee:

just tuned in. so happy to hear a story tonight. Thanks Gaylord!! & Merry Christmas to you!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36pm Gaylord Fields:

@Linda Lee: Glad I could share this with you! Merry Christmas and happy other holidays to you!
Avatar 8:36pm geezerette:

@Fox, yeah, ones that exist already. Older OR newer, either way.

Nice holiday wind down Gaylord.
Avatar 8:36pm Linda Lee:

thank you!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38pm Gaylord Fields:

@geezerette: Happy holidays!
Avatar 8:38pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I think there are 'Old Time' streams that do it...BBC4Extra has had '7th Dimension' SciFi I've picked up on sometimes. DJ Stashu here had 'Switchboard Infinity' - serialized SciFi.
Topical about Artists living cheaply - in dangerous conditions? I just got an eviction notice a day before the landlord's Xmas card - so sing my song already...
  8:38pm P-90:

A Merry, Merry Christmas to all. And special thanks for the holiday treats, DJ Gaylord!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:39pm Gaylord Fields:

I'll post complete credits later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:39pm Gaylord Fields:

@P-90: Merry Christmas, and it's my pleasure!
Avatar 8:40pm Linda Lee:

good lord Rev. really?
  8:41pm sugarwolf:

I think the Vassar College radio station used to have a show that played old radio plays and serials.

Looking online, it looks like they still do!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42pm Gaylord Fields:

@sugarwolf: Thank you for that info!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:43pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@sugarwolf - Yes, I was going to mention that WVKR still does that at 6PM or something on Sundays. Their polka show overlaps with Stashu, too.
Avatar 8:44pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@LindaLee: Yeah - but it's not super imminent, as the law goes.
Avatar 8:45pm geezerette:

Thanks Gaylord,you too. :)
Avatar 8:45pm Linda Lee:

right, no. you have time. not a pleasant thing regardless.
Avatar 8:47pm Linda Lee:

i've been there too, but without the legal protection of a lease agreement.
Avatar 8:50pm Michael Shelley:

Merry Christmas Gaylord & all!
Avatar 8:52pm glenn:

howdy. merry christmas, and happy all other religious, pagan and non religious holidays.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52pm Gaylord Fields:

@Michael Shelley: Merry Christmas to you and yours, and thanks for hipping me to this radio play!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53pm Uncle Michael:

nice product placement
Avatar 8:53pm cosmic matrix:

This is so good, Merry Christmas Happy Chanukkah! Yaaah Gaylord! ....Unshackled...yup.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54pm Gaylord Fields:

@glenn: Last week's Winter Soul-stice was for the pagans, but this show is a bit more ecumenical.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54pm Gaylord Fields:

@cosmic matrix: Hats off to Mr. Stamey for creating this!
Avatar 8:54pm glenn:

it's a good one, as sure as god's got sandals.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:55pm Gaylord Fields:

@Uncle Michael: You mean for Disney, right?
Avatar 8:55pm Linda Lee:

missed the Soul-stice show! shame on me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56pm Gaylord Fields:

@Linda Lee: It's waiting for you, if you do that archive thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56pm Uncle Michael:

Garrard and KLH
Avatar 8:57pm Linda Lee:

oh my of course!! :-D definitely checking it out very soon!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58pm Gaylord Fields:

@Uncle Michael: That's the way of 21st century broadcasting. I'll expect my new speakers to arrive in the mail shortly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58pm Uncle Michael:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59pm Gaylord Fields:

Pay to play is the way!
Avatar 9:00pm Linda Lee:

i'm running my analogue stereo system with old KLH speakers. probably early 70s vintage. they're just excellent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:00pm Uncle Michael:

Man, I'm working cheap.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:02pm Chop Scott:

KLH was created by audio designer Henry Kloss, brilliant man.
  9:07pm wendy del formaggio:

I just got home and am tuned in. Happy Hanukkah
Avatar 9:09pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Still waiting to stop being fascinated (if not fixated) by the 1960s & all their changes. This was when I was born - w/ the arrival of The Beatles.
Such rich appealing voices in this production - it really has a texture.
Avatar 9:15pm Linda Lee:

born mid 1960 here & have some very vivid early memories of art, music, style, color. fantastic.
Avatar 9:17pm Linda Lee:

beautiful memories of nyc then also.
Avatar 9:17pm geezerette:

Film would be good too, I think.
Avatar 9:20pm Linda Lee:

i have Manhattan Towers right here on 78 rpm!
Avatar 9:21pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

The PBS American Experience episode about 1964 comes to mind: before that they could pretend it was still the 50s, but not after...I haven't seen Madmen - & Lynch's 'Mullholland Drive' is about showbiz (albeit creepily)...Who's seen 'God Give Me Strength' about Songwriters? 'Shivers'' title track here is stunning...feel like I just saw a film.
Avatar 9:22pm Linda Lee:

Mad Men is all about the style. the look. very clean, very precise. aside of the visuals it could be any time at all.
Avatar 9:24pm Linda Lee:

the clothes & furnishings are the stars of the series.
Avatar 9:24pm geezerette:

Que caliente!
Avatar 9:25pm Linda Lee:

can't wait to hear what they do with Jagger's vocal style
Avatar 9:25pm Linda Lee:

Los Shakers sound like the Dave Clark Five!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm melinda:

@Rabbit: are you thinking of Grace of My Heart? film loosely based on Carole King.
  9:27pm JakeGould:

The real question: Who is sexier? The Ringo Starr of Uruguay or the Charlie Watts of Uruguay?
Avatar 9:27pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Right! They're great.
Yeah Thx melinda.
Nicely programmed GF: 1964 & The Beatles have now arrived...
Avatar 9:28pm Linda Lee:

i'm sure it's El Charlie, Jake.
Avatar 9:31pm Linda Lee:

just checked their photos. Los Mockers were sexier all around.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32pm Gaylord Fields:

@Linda Lee: We're about the same age. I was born the summer of 1960, and being a curious child living through that era has definitely shaped my cultural worldview.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32pm Uncle Michael:

Someone asked the Ringo of Uruguay if he was a Shaker or a Mocker and he said he was a Shocker.
Avatar 9:33pm Linda Lee:

oh my! i'm summer too! July 13. yes, absolutely.
Avatar 9:33pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...'Chubby Checker' was an astute reference - because the Twist was the thing: the most overtly free sexual movement white people had made in 1,000s of years...
UM for the win...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm Gaylord Fields:

I always thought that Los Shakers looked like four Ringos! (And I say that as a compliment.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35pm Gaylord Fields:

Shut down this thread; Uncle Michael wins the kewpie doll!
Avatar 9:35pm Linda Lee:

Los Quatro Ringos :_D
Avatar 9:37pm Linda Lee:

singer's behind the beat on the Paint It Black Cover. otherwise very good!
Avatar 9:38pm geezerette:

ha, love the accent! Faint but there. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm Chop Scott:

This is clearly a toss up--they both sound great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm Tome:

yaa Sopes Y Gorditas !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm Tome:

& a Happy Happy Christmas to you Gaylord and one and All !
  9:40pm JakeGould:

That would be a pretty sweet pickup line, “You know, I’m the Ringo Starr of Uruguay…”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm Gaylord Fields:

@Tome: ¡Feliz Navidad!
Avatar 9:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- a South American reinterpreting a Londoner reinterpreting an African-American...it's a beautiful world.
Avatar 9:41pm Linda Lee:

Happy Christmas Tome!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm Chop Scott:

I do could lean towards Los Mockers for name alone.
Avatar 9:42pm Linda Lee:

had that thought myself Rev. :-)
Avatar 9:45pm Linda Lee:

can we close the circle? :-D
Avatar 9:46pm glenn:

apropos of nothing, the world's oldest bell foundry is closing down.www.theglobeandmail.com...
Avatar 9:46pm geezerette:

necesitamos ambos. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm Tome:

cada noche ! ya
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51pm Chop Scott:

Los Shakers have the energy to win!
Avatar 9:51pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

They are great bands! Great originals in the styles too! The Beatle melodies-composing-arranging & singing is not easy to emulate - nor the Stones' drive & ensemble rhythmic unity - & swagger. Compares favorably to a lot of U.S. Garage Rawk - in terms of proficiency anyhow...tho' these were apparently top acts there?
As for the actual articles: Keef once said the Beatles & Stones would actually stagger their releases to not compete in the market - & it almost seems like that - like that complicates measuring their progress against each other...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm Gaylord Fields:

@geezerette: ¡Corecto!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm Uncle Michael:

I'm not voting till I hear from the Gerry and the Pacemakers of Uruguay.
  9:53pm Mr C:

Merry Xmas Gaylord..
Avatar 9:53pm glenn:

i vote for los honeycombs.
Avatar 9:54pm geezerette:

Mockers guy does a pretty fair Jagger.

jaja!, gracias Gaylord!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55pm Gaylord Fields:

@Mr C: Merry Xmas to you!
Avatar 9:55pm geezerette:

How do you do the upside down exclamation?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55pm Gaylord Fields:

@geezerette: ¡Ay, por nada!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I give Los Shakers more points for having a better web site. www.losshakers.com.br... www.losmockers.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58pm Uncle Michael:

Roberto es muerto.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59pm Uncle Michael:

Thank you Gaylord.
  9:59pm sugarwolf:

Thank you, Gaylord!!!!
