Sound good!
Avatar 9:07pm JakeGould:

Going deep on the Spandau Ballet.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm efd:

greetings gentlemen!

@Uncle Michael, no habla sie Deutsch!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm Gaylord Fields:

@efd @Uncle Michael: I can facilitate translation between the two of you. I speak jive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm Uncle Michael:

Sorry, I'm busy changing into my Spandau Ballet concert wardrobe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Sprachen TZAG.
  9:13pm Stevel:

Pretty sure my Spandau has seen its last ballet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Greetings, efd and funksters. It'll be freezing real good soon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm Uncle Michael:

Eventually the spandex blows aut.
Avatar 9:14pm YesthatMattHall:

I never realized how much Spandau Ballet sounds like the middle ground between Talking Heads and Wall of Voodoo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15pm Gaylord Fields:

@Uncle Michael: That's right! You're a member of "True Gold," Shawnee County's second most popular Spandau Ballet tribute band?
  9:15pm quietlyartistic:

First time listeners out here in Tucson, AZ. LOVING THIS!!!
  9:16pm V Priceless:

abowie! Evenin' efd and all!
Avatar 9:17pm YesthatMattHall:

Howdy Tucson! I wrote a novel about you once.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17pm efd:

Welcome, quietlyartistic! Happy to have you here, glad you're enjoying the show so far. Plenty of time for things to head south, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17pm efd:

and welcome all other listeners, commenters, and lurkers as well!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:19pm Uncle Michael:

SECOND MOST?! Et tu, Gaylord?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20pm Uncle Michael:

I it just me, or is "Heathen" getting belated love?
Avatar 9:22pm YesthatMattHall:

Always loved Heathen. Just now it really connected in my mind with Blackstar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24pm efd:

I know I for one am guilty of evaluating pretty much all post-'82ish Bowie releases through the prism of what came before, and not really giving his '90s/00s outpuch of a chance. Revisiting has been enlightening.
  9:24pm V Priceless:

'Heathan' is a fab record from start to finish, in my humble. Hard to believe it's 14 years old already.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm Uncle Michael:

Me too, to a T, EFD.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm Uncle Michael:

Should I go see Gladys Knight? Does she still bring the goods?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm Gaylord Fields:

@Uncle Michael: That means you never actually saw Tecumseh's "Journeys to Diamond"! Okay, so their lead singer is only 5'3" and is Vietnamese, but he sounds exactly like Tony Hadley!
  9:27pm V Priceless:

'hours...' Is very cool too. Strong writing in the classic 'vintage' DB style
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm Uncle Michael:

Screw it. I'm starting a Dead or Alive cover band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm Gaylord Fields:

Hope you have a good (or maybe not so good) plastic surgeon on call.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm Uncle Michael:

I'm just going to tease my hair and call it good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm Ken From Hyde Park:

"I speak jive." Great moments in movie history. youtu.be...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm Figgsrock:

EFD--I just watched that Spandau doc on Saturday after putting it in my queue on your recommendation. Really great. Btw, what's a good place to start if I only know their two Top 40 hits?
  9:38pm greyhoos:

Overlooked Bowie moments in movie (non)history...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm Uncle Michael:

You get music...and you get Gaylord and me doing comment improv comedy.

What's not to love?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm efd:

@Figgsrock, I love their first full-length, Journeys To Glody.
Avatar 9:42pm YesthatMattHall:

Personally I think all those old professionals are very much worth seeing. Remember whatever Oscars it was where Shirley Bassey ripped "Goldfinger" into shreds and left it shivering in the corner? They know how to do that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm Figgsrock:

@EFD cool, I shall check it out tomorrow!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm Folsom:

I'm liking this Market East song, heard it on Pat Byrne's show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm Gaylord Fields:

@Uncle Michael: The Aristocrats!
Avatar 9:53pm Loretta:

Evan, thanks so much for playing 'teenage lust & the lustettes'...... can't wait to hear it again ~ will catch it tomorrow. also, I'm enjoying hearing Bowie just about every week... can't get enough of him.
  9:55pm sugarwolf:

Darn it, I missed my favorite Spandau Ballet song!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55pm Uncle Michael:

You gotta commit to the bit, Gaylord.
  9:58pm Domenica:

"Look who's back in town again..." I assume they are referring to the BOYS (who are back in town).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm efd:

hey sugarwolf! I think that one's my favorite too. It'll be waiting in the archive!

@Loretta always good to see you here - my pleasure to play both of those artists you mentioned. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm Figgsrock:

EFD hitting the post with the legal ID. How radio of you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

They say nobody loves a tourist - but I love the Tourists...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm efd:

@Figgsrock ha, thanks for noticing!
  10:05pm sugarwolf:

Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet on WFMU in the same month, December isn't a complete horror!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm Figgsrock:

@EFD I so loved hitting posts with the legal ID back in the day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm Uncle Michael:

A-RIS-ta says they love it, but the kids can't dance...to IT.
Avatar 10:18pm Domenica:

Yeah, The Tuns song is definitely about the titular Boys.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm Scraps:

I loved the Tourists single "In My Mind (There's Sorrow)"

Though I someone wondered where else but my mind. So I sometimes sang In My Craw There's Sorrow. Etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21pm efd:

I don't know that one, Scraps - will have to check it out. (and hello!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm melinda:

hi folks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm Uncle Michael:

Rose of England was such a great and underrated album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm melinda:

I like the Rose of England, new to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm Scraps:

@efd it's on Reality Effect (which I don't have)
Avatar 10:32pm Domenica:

Hi Melinda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm efd:

@Scraps oh duh, well that will make it easy for me! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm melinda:

hi Domenica!
  10:40pm johnk77:

great show efd
the rose of england sounded great
rip bobby irwin
of the cowboy outfit
he passed away in 2015
great live drummer
and a great human being
to have a drink or two with;<
Avatar 10:41pm Domenica:

That I'm A Freak, Baby comp looks SO GOOD. Are the tracks largely solidly good? I know psych is a tricky genre. So much of it is mediocre in my experience.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm Uncle Michael:

'night all...great stuff tonight, EFD
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm efd:

@Domenica I haven't listened to all of it yet, but it looks pretty solid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm Stevel:

Dark Blue sounds better every time I hear them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm brendanswfmuaccount:

Ha, I was thinking "this sounds like the dude from Clockcleaner" and then looked it up. I'll have to check this out. Good stuff.
Avatar 10:51pm northguineahills:

The seams, not to be confused w/ seam.
  10:59pm hendrix wolfbat:

Hey Evan! Happiest holidays to you! Is Jack Collins guest Djing with you tonight? Just tuned in..
Avatar 11:01pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

The immediacy of this show makes me feel as if I am listening in the next room.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm efd:

@hendrix Jack (Cooper, not Collins) was going to be here, but he ran into scheduling issues so sadly he had to cancel.
  11:03pm hendrix wolfbat:

Aw well you're always smashing EFD
  11:06pm Ignore Function:

Great show!
  11:07pm hendrix wolfbat:

Love ultimate painting..hope alls well with Jack Cooper wherever he is
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10pm Scraps:

One Night was a 11-track LP in Europe. Far as I can tell, no US release.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm efd:

good to know, thanks Scraps
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15pm efd:

11 tracks on this LP as well so presumably the same ones
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm Scraps:

discogs says 1987, RYM has 1989, and now the reissue apparently says 1988. Well!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm efd:

well to be honest I made up 1988 based on the note in the reissue that it was recorded in Nov-Dec 1987, but maybe it was in the can for a year
Avatar 11:18pm northguineahills:

Thanks for the groovy tunes as always, efd!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19pm efd:

happy to provide them, ngh!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19pm chris_in_space:

Came in late tonight. This set is cooookin'! Good to be here, @efd and Funkamaniacs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm Scraps:

usually RYM is slightly better at getting the dates right than Discogs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm Scraps:

I remember very very early MTV video for the Members song "Working Girl" that I liked, but Members songs on compilations are always earlier, more punky songs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm Scraps:

oh i like this is the ice age.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm chris_in_space:

Martha and the Muffins! NIICE. This was one of the first records I ever bought. What a moody record.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29pm Scraps:

I like all four albums, up to Danseparc. yeah, moody new wave
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm chris_in_space:

@Scraps dry as Toronto in 1981
  11:42pm herb.nyc:

I knew about the non-appearance of Ultimate Painting via the social media site "fake news efd". Word was that their Bowery Ballroom show was vg, ditto EZTV.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm efd:

@herb, you are on top of the news and ahead of the times.
