  7:15pm Leo:

Puh leeze
  7:16pm Old Dave:

I am sorry, Stand By Me has nothing I can recall as significant.
But you are making fun of the film, fine.
Easier to be cynical!
  7:16pm James f:

I don't know if the Bechtel test applies to a movies about 12 year old boys on an adventure
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm Greg from ZONE 5:

Oh, this movie could not fail the Bechdel Test harder…
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm Aaron in Minneapolis:

Its like MST3000!
  7:17pm prezno:

Hey Ken . We need to talk .
  7:18pm Old Dave:

Yah, Aaron, but we can't see the film.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm common:

corey feldman in friday the 13th part 4 is great. as is crispin glover. good stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm Aaron in Minneapolis:

You can see it anytime, its not obscure
  7:19pm sugarwolf:

I never saw Stand By Me, but I read the Mad magazine parody.
  7:20pm Listener Robert:

I'm a FOAF of Jerry O'Connell. My friend David Lindelof one day told me his son, Damon (who I was also friendly with via David) had become friends at NYU with someone who'd been a child movie actor, and proceeded to show me this video. Jerry was unfortunately one of Damon's poker buddies that I didn't get to meet.
  7:20pm Exile:

I'm with you on that Prezno.
  7:21pm Old Dave:

I will now turn this shit off and watch MST3000 reruns.
Much better.
Avatar 7:21pm Jeff:

Yo mama so fat -

When she sits around the house, SHE SITS AROUND THE HOUSE.
  7:22pm Exile:

Rifftrax too Old Dave.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22pm Greg from ZONE 5:

My favorite Yo Mama joke of all time, courtesy of George Wallace:

"Yo Mama so ugly, she could make an onion cry"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24pm Greg from ZONE 5:

His dad WAS a jerk, but he was also Marshall Bell of Twins and Total Recall fame.
  7:25pm Exile:

The Bedchel test doesn't apply to Stand By Me. It's if two women talk about something that isn't a guy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bechdel_test
  7:25pm herb.nyc:

Coincidence- I read nov 21 New Yorker today, and this is p59- yr mama's a whore, I shot back "so what? Yr nose is flat." By Mary Karr.
  7:26pm Listener Robert:

Damon & Jerry stayed friends as their respective show-biz careers developed, & sometimes they crossed paths, as on "Crossing Jordan". I wonder whether Jerry played along w solving the mystery of "Lost" as I figured Damon's other friends would've. It's years after it concluded its run, & I'm still nailing down details of its hidden plot.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm Aaron in Minneapolis:

Greg, way off topic here, but were you the one that made the buttons for Why Oh Why a few years ago?
  7:26pm Marc15:

"Two for flinching"
  7:27pm herb.nyc:

This experiment is, is, well...
  7:27pm Marc15:

"Stand By Me" is a story written by Stephen King
  7:29pm james:

mighty mouse can bring it. he'd kick your ass for comparing him to a 4 year old!!!
Avatar 7:29pm Emily:

@Exile I know! You're totally right about the Bedchel test! I realized it right after I said it. DOH! My mouth is faster than my brain.
Avatar 7:33pm Jeff:

This is brilliant!
  7:34pm Listener Robert:

Superman could have a grudge vs. Mighty Mouse for ripping him off. Mighty Mouse's original name was Super Mouse, & would've kept that name had Coo-Coo Comics not brought out their own Super Mouse.
  7:35pm Listener Robert:

At least that's how Leonard Maltin told it.
Avatar 7:35pm kimzilla and Emily:

Thanks Jeff!
  7:36pm Hypertoast:

This is hilarious.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37pm Aaron in Minneapolis:

Next do the Star Wars Holiday Special
  7:38pm Listener Robert:

Method acting is cheating.
Avatar 7:38pm Emily:

@Listener Robert hahaha
  7:38pm Hypertoast:

I second the Star Wars Holiday special request
  7:41pm James f:

Avatar 7:42pm Jeff:

Does anyone remember laughter?
  7:42pm Exile:

OOOh tell us more @James F if you can
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm Aaron in Minneapolis:

Dandy james, how are you coping being in the world of trump?
  7:44pm carol d:

I had no friends when I was 12.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, folks. Non-WFMU programming alert: Charlie Brown's Christmas is on ABC TV at the top of the hour
Avatar 7:45pm Jeff:

Hey, is it Kim who's captioning the playlist pictures? Wil Wheaton only has one "l" in his first name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm Greg from ZONE 5:

That's me, Aaron! Hope you have some and that you are wearing them with pride.
  7:46pm carol d:

Now at 55, my closest friends are from college.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm Aaron in Minneapolis:

Ken, its the Thanksgiving one, not the Christmas peanuts special
Avatar 7:46pm kimzilla:

@Jeff, now he will never call in!
Avatar 7:47pm Jeff:

Sure he will - you fixed it!
Avatar 7:48pm Jeff:

(Sure he wil?)
  7:48pm Listener Robert:

I guess my coming-of-age movie was "The President's Analyst". So you can tell how screwed up I am.
Avatar 7:48pm sweeks:

Actually, Stand By Me really hits home for me. Kinda represents my childhood. Man, I loved being a 12 year old boy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm Aaron in Minneapolis:

A league of their own?
Avatar 7:49pm Jeff:

Summer of '42?
  7:50pm Richard:

A Coming of Age movie for girls? Might this guy suggest "Kiki's Delivery Service"?
Avatar 7:51pm kimzilla:

@Richard, I love that movie!
Avatar 7:52pm Jeff:

Yeah, Porky's always sounded so DUM that I was never interested enough to watch it even though there are apparently boobies.
  7:53pm James f:

  7:54pm James:

Greg are you scared of leeches BECAUSE of the movie?
Avatar 7:54pm Jeff:

A leaf with teef? Ewww.
  7:55pm james:

@aaron... girding my loins for the next four years. yay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm Greg from ZONE 5:

@James: Yeah, pretty sure that's where it started.
  7:58pm james:

@greg it was Gilligan's island that made this totally suburban kid vigilant of quicksand!
Avatar 7:58pm Jeff:

Quicksand could be ANYWHERE!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm Greg from ZONE 5:

I didn't get to talk about my theory that if River Phoenix had lived Johnny Depp wouldn't have a career!
  7:58pm Richard:

Thank you WFMU!!!
  7:58pm Listener Robert:

I think a lot of people are going to be pleasantly surprised by Trump.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Oh, duh....Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving is on TV now. I has distracted earlier. Hoo boy.
