Howdy Jake and Scraps! Hope you brought your appetits
Avatar 7:17pm coelacanth:

greetings Jesse and everyone
Avatar 7:18pm Jesse K:

Hi hi coelacanth!
Avatar 7:24pm Mayuko:

That yellow thing in the picture does look appetizing. Looks like herring roe. Are these all real edible thing??
Avatar 7:28pm Jesse K:

Yeah, these are all photos of food from Mugaritz restaurant in Spain
Avatar 7:30pm coelacanth:

i thought it looked like a 1/2 pickle spear with a thick glaze over it, with ...
Avatar 7:31pm coelacanth:

a rutabaga mush or something?
Avatar 7:32pm coelacanth:

the top image is mysterious to me.
Avatar 7:34pm Mayuko:

the top one looks like a fancy shaved ice to me. with very little amount of syrup.
Avatar 7:36pm coelacanth:

...so, do you think that's a piece of herring and the paste is the roe?
Avatar 7:41pm coelacanth:

it would be hilarious if they actually served that thorn-entangled stuff in that presentation! i might be a little pissed off though if i was a hemophiliac and they served me that.
Avatar 7:42pm Mayuko:

@coelacanth the two small ones that look like tiny beads look very much herring roe, the color is the same too, the bigger thing on the left doesn't look like anything to me :0 But possibly a piece of cooked herring with some yellow color sauce???
Avatar 7:45pm Mayuko:

I have a feeling this is they way they present! I'd be VERY confused if I ever have a chance to visit that restaurant, but thanks to Jesse we're all prepared now.
Avatar 7:46pm Mayuko:

(I meant "the way they *serve*")
Avatar 7:47pm Jesse K:

Yeah, I've never been there but would be surprised if they don't serve it like this? It's like if a sculptor designed foods or something, I can't image how they taste in any way from the photos
Avatar 7:51pm coelacanth:

my guess is that many of these things are pretty expensive and they are one bite - and some may taste terrible even; but they've built a reputation from the fantastic presentation and certain delicacies, and much hype.
...if i found myself with $100,000,000.00 i'd go there though! (and i'd bring all of you)
Avatar 7:57pm coelacanth:

Jesse do you know if these images are all of deserts or all different courses?
Avatar 7:58pm Jesse K:

Here's an about page: www.mugaritz.com...
Dinner is fixed menu and takes 3 hours. Price is 204 euros not including drinks.
I think they're all over the place, some definitely look more entre but maybe they aren't so strict with defining those things?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm melinda:

hi folks!
Avatar 8:02pm Jesse K:

Howdy Melinda! We were just guessing the flavor of some food foams over here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06pm melinda:

I'm afraid to guess.
Avatar 8:09pm coelacanth:

okay. after reading that i change my criteria! i need-not have one hundred million bucks to indulge in mugaritz...maybe 500,000!
it's not a meal it's an event; and i'd love to experience it, at least once.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10pm melinda:

I love the Caretaker.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42pm Scraps:

Matanatanatanatanatanananananata...... rrrrrrrrroberts!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49pm Scraps:

Some of the bubbly-foamy food is disgusting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51pm Uncle Michael:

I had Papa Murphy's pizza for dinner. You can get disgusting for ten buckss.
Avatar 8:53pm Jesse K:

Hey Uncle Michael! Was is foamy by any chance?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54pm Uncle Michael:

Not yet.
Avatar 8:57pm coelacanth:

...the foam is interactive then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59pm melinda:

That image for Untitled N.1 sort of looks like a Snickers w/gas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:01pm Uncle Michael:

Here's the weirdest thing I've eaten recently:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:02pm Uncle Michael:

The ice cream remains fully contained even when completely thawed.
Avatar 9:02pm coelacanth:

Scraps, the foam is just whipped juice or chocolate milk or something; but some of the other things are seriously horrible! - and some are not food at all.
... i think the staff at mugaritz spends a lot of time laughing when they create these things and imagine the patrons trying to "ooh" & "ahhh" and pretend everything's delicious!
...it's pure genius!
Avatar 9:03pm coelacanth:

melinda hahaha!
Avatar 9:05pm coelacanth:

mmm, mochi ice cream!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06pm melinda:

I would like fully thawed mochi ice cream. My teeth are extremely sensitive to cold.
Avatar 9:10pm coelacanth:

i'm not into ice cream but maybe 1-2X/year, but occasionally i'll have a mochi ice cream desert bestowed upon me and i will not not eat that, ever! -and it's better thawed a little.
Avatar 9:13pm Mayuko:

Those mochi ice cream look gooooooood (& hello, Uncle Michael!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm Uncle Michael:

Hello Mayuko. I tried pistachio and mango. They were good.
Avatar 9:17pm coelacanth:

Jesse i'm really digging the program this evening.... less dancey-techno-y, more soundy-listen-y.
...just my preference. it's always good though.
Avatar 9:21pm Jesse K:

thanks coelacanth! I can't guarantee what's in store but glad the ride so far has been a good one!
Avatar 9:25pm coelacanth:

i used to make mochi pizza by slicing the mochi into 2 very thin sheets and baking it with cheese and sauce on top. t'was truly delicious.
and my gf c.1991 made mochi "fritters" by grating it and frying it.
...usually i just bake it till it's crispy outside then stuff it with almond butter, peanut butter or tuna salad.
Avatar 9:57pm Mayuko:

Thanks Jesse!
Avatar 9:59pm coelacanth:

Stellar Jesse - Thanks!

ciao comrades
