A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Thanks for the reports everybody. The pledge page is working but there is some bug with the paypal option that we're trying to identify and fix. Guido, if you can email me any specifics on what you experienced, that would be great.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31am @sugarwolf@:

why is it always lousy weather during your shows? an excuse to stay in and listen, I guess
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35am Lewis:

attention to detail! also I am listening in the studio today so the clicking of the needle practically had me dashing for my own turntable... ;-)

Ahhh the taproom! My band used to practice there and steal their amps for our shows. They stopped serving alcohol unfortunately...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38am SSS:

Sure, that will do it Lindsay, key punch.
  9:38am JakeGould:

God Lindsay sounds like a complete tool right here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39am sphere:

It's interesting how everyone had the same stagey manner of public speaking at one time.
Avatar 9:40am Roberto:

Nope sorry, Ken already played this yesterday. Next! :P

I like the way the idea of computerizing the police would make things better.

Hi, all. How's come it's snowing out today? Global warming supposed to bring an eternal summer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51am @sugarwolf@:

@KenfromHP: eternal summer was last week!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55am sphere:

push it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55am Parq:

Ken, is it snowing where you are? I knew they were getting snow north of the Capitol region but I didn't think it had made its way that far south.
Avatar 9:55am βrian:

I want that textile artist's name to be Sisal.
Avatar 9:55am bobdoesthings:

the background whispering sounds like they're saying "ahhh this is bullshit"
Avatar 9:57am Trouble:

this is my last show of the month of push-it-to-make-money-october, off air fundraising stylee. as you can see by the percentage marker at the top of your page, my pledges do truly need to be pushed up to the inspired level. how about it super peeps? have you pledged a little $$$ to WFMU this month? obrigado, merci, tak!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58am Ken From Hyde Park:

Yep, light snow for the last hour or so. Imagine walking around inside a snow globe IRL.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58am listener james from westwood:

We got fine hail this morning in northern Bergen County. Exciting if you love hail like I do, but alarming if you look at the calendar. Still, it was right around this time of year when the FMU Record Fair was blizzarded out in ~2011, so.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01am Webhamster Henry:

Snowing here in Kingston, NY too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05am @sugarwolf@:

I only just found out recently that Florence Henderson had an affair with John Lindsay
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05am maestroso:

@listener james
I remember that record fair well. All trains and buses were canceled, so I was stuck overnight in NYC. Got to see Prince Rama though...
Avatar 10:06am bobdoesthings:

bobby darin cover just as good.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20am Ken From Hyde Park:

Madame Butterfly, where you been at these last thirty years?
  10:24am Joe McG:

I'm jealous of your Mission of Burma 7"!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26am Passaic River Blues:

I think Trouble is winning singles going steady.
Avatar 10:26am Trouble:

@ joemcG: of how played out it is?
Avatar 10:26am coelacanth:

'didn't know this was released as a single. it seems there were better options from that album - from a commercially successful viewpoint.
Avatar 10:27am Trouble:

thanks passaic: although i'd like to win the most $ raised for wfmu race, even though there isn't one...
Avatar 10:29am Sem Chumbo:

Excellent cover.
Avatar 10:31am Trouble:

haven't heard a bad cover of lineman: brilliant song, has everything a song needs
Avatar 10:33am coelacanth:

@Jeezy: The day before I realize I am sick I want to drink and eat crap. Then I am sick. Just saying.
Avatar 10:51am Trouble:

thanks tadpoles: labels switched and i am cuing 3 things at once
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52am Passaic River Blues:

@tmoyo: I live in Newark, NJ, and there are about two literary events a year worth getting excited about. The Newark Public Library does its best though: about three years ago Kara Walker and Nell Irvin Painter had a discussion that was epic.
Swag For Life Member 10:54am tadpoles:

No problem Trouble.. We Love You worked.
  10:56am JakeGould:

Is there a compilation of singers attempting to get someone to not do something?
  10:59am Brendan:

Wasn't Rhode Island Red Foghorn Leghorn 's cousin from the big city?
Avatar 11:01am Trouble:

good chicken joke there, brendan!
Avatar 11:02am Trouble:

@tmoyo to me, being in yokohama doesn't sound like being "stuck". sounds like somewhere i would like to be...
  11:03am Brendan:

Wiki says he was Foghorn's erstwhile 'college chum' and now rival.
  11:05am JakeGould:

@Brendan: I say I say I say there's something wrong with that boy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am JP from KC:

Morning, everyone. Singles Going Steady is perhaps one of the best ideas in the history of ideas.

On a related note, I'm pretty sure I've reached the point where WFMU has ruined me for all other radio stations, which is especially problematic for me as someone who unfortunately works in corporate "radio."

Any ideas on what else guy could do with a broadcasting degree... besides broadcasting?
  11:06am Stephanie:

I'm loving today's literary allusions *thumbs up!* enjoy Zadie Smith tonight, Trouble!
  11:07am βrian:

@JP: Planting wheat, maybe? A different take on broadcasting, to be sure.
Avatar 11:11am Trouble:

have you read 'miss gomez and the brethren' by william trevor? fabulous pet shop features prominently
Avatar 11:11am Trouble:

@ jakegould: make that comp jake! sounds super!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12am Mister Dobalina:

YaY! I love this track!!
  11:13am kevlicki:

I was told the east end of English towns were always working class because of the direction of the wind. Rich people lived west of the factories whose plumes of whatever were blown eastward.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am JP from KC:

@Brian: I was going to try to make a joke about "broadcasting stones in glass houses," but it wasn't very good, anyway, and I feel like the moment has passed...
  11:13am Brendan:

The red, the blue hen and the pheasant are the only three non native state birds. And five southern states have the northern mockingbird as their state bird. Sorry - on a wiki wild goose chase. Or a rabbit hole.
  11:15am Brendan:

@kev i've noticed that of US towns as well
  11:16am JakeGould:

@Trouble: Thanks! Will do my best to make that playlist happen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am Mick:

Pirate Jenny!
  11:23am Peter in Seattle:

From Three Penny Opera?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am Parq:

I've heard so many different English-language versions of Pirate Jenny, but this is the first time I've ever heard a cover of the original German.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am Lewis:

ahh Hildegarde!
Avatar 11:24am βrian:

Aren't the european 7-inches supposed to be in metric units?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am Lewis:

@Brian - so what, 20cm?...
Avatar 11:26am βrian:

17.78 cm, by my conversion ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26am Lewis:

yeah I was doing it rough in my head looking for a nice clean number - on further pondering I had come up with 18cm...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am Parq:

Somehow, I think that a double entendre (single entendre, as Dorothy P used to say) blues song called My Big 24.5 CM wouldn't have been memorable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am crateslinger:

wow. this one was in the back of my brain. I know all the words.
Avatar 11:31am Roberto:

Whenever I was home sick during elementary school, "Ebony Eyes" seemed to always be playing on the radio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am timurf:

just couldn't resist playing the follow up hit, could you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33am Parq:

Actually, it's probably not his eyes he wants to hold her close to.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am Goyim in the AM:

@Lewis & ßrian: People say "7 Zoll" over here for 45 rpm singles. Speakers and bitchin' rims for your hooptie also get the non-metric treatment.
