A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Finally remembered to tune in on Thursday :)
  9:06am kooky Pete:

Finally... It IS Thursday.
  9:08am Mark R:

I've just recently started appreciating this era of Miles. I resisted it for many years, and now I just can't get enough of it. This is why I pledge to WFMU--you're the ones who turned me on to this in the first place!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08am Ken From Hyde Park:

This is the calm before the storm (Hurricane Matthew). I hope the station doesn't 'get drowned by it. Also, hi everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09am annie:

so, what's with all the miles? it's good.
  9:09am famous original italianicewolf:

Hello!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11am MD:

Good Morning all My Modern Friends...Living in This Modern World..After Trouble's show...Turn off the machines....you will feel so much happier...XOXO!
  9:12am famous original italianicewolf:

We have stores in Miami and Orlando so I am concerned about them. My manager thinks it's going to be nothing because nothing happened when Irene and Sandy hit us OOOOOOKKAAAAY
Avatar 9:12am Trouble:

good morning! i willfully placed myself in the heatfull studio B this am for the pleasure of Helado Negro performing live here this morning! today's artwork is by Judy Ledgerwood
  9:14am Mark R:

Annie I know, first Scott and now Trouble. Truthfully, though, I find it hard to get through a show without playing at least one Miles track myself.
  9:18am kevlicki:

Good morning trouble and the modern world. Another great week, got to have a fancy dinner and see James Blake on Monday. Haven't been a huge fan of his, but went with friends and was BlOWN away wth the show. Great sound good visual show.
Now, to feed the goats and harvest more raspberries
  9:21am specksnyder:

Morning Trouble, Friends. Beautiful fall day here in Nippertown. Hope it's beautiful where you live, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25am annie:

i'm sure i can bear it up, though, Mark
  9:25am famous original italianicewolf:

@kevlicki: goats!!!!!!! :):)
Avatar 9:26am Trouble:

whoa! kevlicki, i am not serving myself well by working too hard and not paying attention to live gigs. i adore him! does that mean he has a new record? yipppeeee
  9:27am melinda:

Good morning all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28am Stevel:

Good morning melinda!
Avatar 9:28am Sem Chumbo:

Good morning, Trouble. Lovely first half hour. Along for the whole ride, grant writing with the music in my ears.
  9:28am Mark R:

Yes, Annie, we'll just have to deal with an excess of excellence.
  9:35am Mark R:

This Allah-Las album is really great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36am sphere:

hi trouble, hi everybody.
Avatar 9:39am sugano:

switching to thursdays has completely altered my chemical and seasonal balances
  9:41am Mark R:

I thought the Miles movie was very good, too. Reviews were mixed, I know it wasn't factual, but it seems one of those cases where the truth is more important than the facts, and that film felt very truthful.
  9:43am Santos L Halper:

Agree w/ mr. Trouble on the miles flick, lots of fun. Enjoying the show as we flee before the winds of Matthew...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43am annie:

...and i'm splitting in half an hour. care package to the offspring and his sweetie in LA, and lunch at the pub.
  9:45am kevlicki:

Trouble,
His recent album was released a couple months ago.
Totally amazing performance

  10:11am egould310:

Waking up to a beautiful raga. That's the way to start the day. Good morning all from Long Beach, CA.
Avatar 10:13am chromaphone:

This raga is making me feel like going back to sleep. Oh wait... it's starting to liven up :)
Avatar 10:19am Sem Chumbo:

Waxing poetic in this grant writing, Ravi's inspiring the words. Thx, Trouble.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20am fleep:

Blissy rise into what passes for consciousness, thanks T.
Avatar 10:23am herb.nyc:

hi, just tuned in. COINCIDENCE - that was theme of IN REAL LIFE program yest, wfmu. and ravi s is playing, and i emailed e.f.davies yesterday that earlier this wk, wnyu's new afternoon show played a ravi song. and a 2nd coincidence: i posted a 99 Records thing on efd's chatboard, and as i'm typing, he plays 999! word!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26am common:

morning trouble and all.
  10:27am Mark R:

This new Ravi album is amazing. I believe this was specifically a morning raga, so it's perfect that you're playing it now.
  10:29am Mark R:

I'll remind my fellow listeners that there is no other station in the world that's going to play Miles Davis, the Allah-Las and Ravi Shankar on the same show, and that's what we support during the silent fundraiser. Shhhhh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34am Adrian in London:

Hello Trouble, hello the Troubled ones. Just being doing some life things and what great tracks I've missed! Will catch up in the archive later.
Avatar 10:35am Trouble:

thanks for pinch hitting mark r. we are just opening up a month long fundraiser, where we solicit $$ in secret, you know, the government need not know, :) it's a low key asking for dollars to get us thru the year until our next major fundsmash. you can see the t shirts and all we have to offer at out web page...
Avatar 10:36am Trouble:

ello adrian, and many more late comers, all welcome.
  10:38am blee:

Un dos tres, fantastico!
Avatar 10:47am Ilya from Saratov:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am coelacanth:

hello Trouble, and Troubled
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10am Adrian in London:

Ooh, Jones is doing an in-store show here in London tomorrow
Avatar 11:11am Trouble:

is she british? that must be why i love her...
  11:13am Slim:

turn it up...
Avatar 11:20am βrian:

Trouble, some of us are hoping you might hold forth a bit on Donald's "genius" before the show's end.
Avatar 11:24am βrian:

A little gust of fresh air and sanity, as it were ...
  11:37am Listener142985:

Brian, are you trying to stir up Trouble? She was upbraided twice last week, might be nice to take a break from angry listeners.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am Adrian in London:

@Trouble I don't know but maybe; she's been doing stuff on BBC1Xtra, apparently.
Avatar 11:39am βrian:

Nah, I just enjoy the occasional sanity checks. There were some great ones in 2012, as I recall.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am coelacanth:

142985 - that's what the opposition is counting on.
  11:43am Listener142985:

coelacanth: not trying to squelch debate, just did not want another a favorite DJ subjected to more sniffer attacks, which came from both sides last week.
  11:44am Mark R:

No need to speak out against him, he's doing a fine job of shooting himself in the foot. What really counts are the down-ballot elections. There's no point in having a progressive president and an obstructionist congress again. Although it's slightly better than a president who would sign all their lunatic bills into law.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am Michael 98145:

we expected this century to turn out better ...
Avatar 11:46am βrian:

In WI the state government has been messing with the ID process, giving out false information, etc., in the hopes of stonewalling court-ordered access to free IDs for voting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47am coelacanth:

142985, no,i know. i just had to stick my point in there.
  11:48am Mark R:

WFMU is a prime example of things we got right in this century--no government, no corporations, just a bunch of kooks doing what we want, paying our own bills, without outside interference. Pledge, you commie freaks.
  11:48am Listener142985:

totally cool, as is a coelacanth. has anyone caught one lately?
  11:49am Mark R:

Scott Walker's a dick.
  11:50am Keet:

What was that album mentioned... from the 80's but like current electronic music ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am coelacanth:

haha! so was John Cage, but i'm sure thankful he did what he did.
  11:51am famous original italianicewolf:

Gov. Scott walker is a disgrace to the good name of Scott walker!!
  11:51am Listener142985:

Mark R, totally second your motion to pledge--losing fmu would be a big blow for many of us.
  11:52am Dean:

Er, WFMU is not a product of "no government." FCC, for instance? We take for granted the infrastructure and coordination afforded by government--which is by, for, and of us, anyway. But yeah, pledge, you commie freaks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52am coelacanth:

oh, that scott walker! never mind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52am Michael 98145:

agreed
Avatar 11:52am βrian:

The local version only sings when a Koch bro has his hand deeply inserted.
  11:53am Dean:

Jackson Browne 5?
Avatar 11:54am βrian:

@Dean: you mean, I didn't build that myself?
  11:54am Dean:

@βrian: You didn't even build *that comment* yourself!
Avatar 11:54am ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

Just starting my morning and tuning in. Will be listening on ye olde archives. Hello and goodbye!
  11:56am Listening Out There:

What ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ said... :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am Priscilla:

I thought Pence looked like a creepy cyborg
Avatar 11:58am βrian:

I think I'm going to sneak off to see what Charlie has up his sleeve:
wfmu.org...
  11:58am Dean:

Play an hour of Traffic.
  11:59am Passaic River Blues:

@Keet: The album referenced was Angel Rada's "Upadesa".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am Michael 98145:

thank you, Trouble
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm Priscilla:

Thanks Trouble
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm coelacanth:

Thanks Trouble

tchau peeps
  12:00pm Passaic River Blues:

BIG UPS, TROUBLE!
  12:02pm Mark R:

Dean your point is well-taken. However, FMU is not an NPR station, except following FCC guidelines and using the public airwaves, the taxpayers don't fund us and no one can tell us what to do.
  12:04pm Keet:

Mucho thanks Passaic River Blues !
